   Loved the ambiance, our server was delightful and very knowledgable about the menu items. The food….very eclectic, creative and fresh. It’s not a meal, it’s an amazing experience of flavors and textures. Between the 3 of us we ordered six items. The fermented black bean agnolotti and the roasted chicken were our 2 favorite’s, but all choices were delicious. For dessert the rhubarb sorbet with beet meringue and dark chocolate mousse were both to die for!!!

   Last night's meal at Elske was one of the most outstanding, and enjoyable, we have had in Chicago in a long time. Judging from the patrons all around us, everyone in the room felt the same way. We asked ourselves: How can this already outstanding restaurant continue to improve? Since our last visit, the menu has been modified and expanded. The dishes are beautifully presented and look simple, yet the creativity and skill required to put together the ingredients is just astounding! Usually, 3 dishes is enough for the 2 of us. But last night we ordered 4 simply because we couldn't resist trying some of the new ones, especially some that are probably seasonal. Our server Hannah knew us from previous visits and had reviewed what dishes we had had in the past, so she was able to point out and explain the several new ones that we might enjoy. The white asparagus appetizer, soft shell crab, smoked arctic char, and Frikadellar (Meatballs) defy description but were simply delicious. Hannah represents everything someone could want in a server - polished, professional, knowledgeable, and clearly proud to be part of the restaurant's staff. We can't wait to return. We thought the chefs were at the top of their game, but clearly they continue to rise. Thank you to all the staff for a most enjoyable evening.

   Really lovely interesting food. No qualms with anything. The juice pairing was especially delightful and thoughtfully done.

   Food is as soooo good. Service was impeccable. Everyone knowledgeable and friendly. Great setting with view of the fireplace outside.

   An unfortunate experience at an otherwise well-reviewed restaurant. We were made to wait 30 minutes, being told upon arrival (5 minutes early) and after waiting 15 minutes that my table was paying and should be ready soon. Kind of defeats the purpose of making a reservation as well as having a 2 hour maximum dining rule on their website. They comped with some cheese and sardine. Which I guess was fine, but not what we were really looking for considering we wanted an appetite for the prefix menu. Regardless, the rest of the night was just very underwhelming. For a small space, it's really noisy. Probably because it's basically only hard surfaces in the entire venue and no curtains or sound-dampening decor. It made it really hard to have our own conversation let alone hear the servers explain the dishes and drinks we ordered. At least we had the menus to read. The entire prefix meal was very...not great. Much of the food was salty/oversalted where not expected. Lots of interesting odors from our drinks (especially the non-alcoholic accompaniment). A couple of off presentation dishes. And a couple of dishes we just didn't want to finish. There was one dish that seemed to match the expected quality, and it was the one where we requested a substitute for the main ingredient. Not sure if I can recommend this place, but hopefully others can have a different and better experience if they choose to go.

   Excellent food, excellent experience, little high on the noise level. Only issue was it was an exorbitantly long time before we received our second courses and dessert. Our waiter did apologize however .

   My first time at Elske and it did not disappoint. Creative menu, beyond interesting take on Nordic cuisine--just delicious!! Good wine list. The desserts were--can I say-- out of this world? The space itself is spare and lovely. My (very picky) dinning partners were equally impressed. Brava/o/x to Anna, David, and Team.

   Absolutely outstanding. Possibly one of the best meals I have ever had anywhere in the world. Confident and refined, but unfussy and at times playful, we ordered the tasting menu and were blown away. The all natural wine pairing was incredibly interesting and we, in addition, had the NA pairing which is under no circumstances to be missed. We also ordered an extra course which received its own perfect pairing, as well as samples of their in-house schnapps, all of which were immaculate. The design of the interior is also so welcoming and cool, the ambience was amazing. Can’t wait to return, many thanks to Hannah who took good care of us!

    Very much looked forward to dining at Elske. The restaurant is quaint, cozy, everything I love in a dining experience. Much of our food was not at temperature - either being too cold/lukewarm at best and in some cases burnt. The arctic char was very overcooked and yet cool. Overall for such a fantastic restaurant reputation there were a few too many misses to give it more than a 3-4 star review. I stuck with a 4 because I really wanted it to be better. One not food related comment I have to make is that when I went to the bathroom before the meal was served, I had inadvertently dropped my napkin. My dining partner said that the server noticed it, turned around, and didn’t bother to bring new one (or take it off the floor) and two bus boys walked passed the dropped napkin and didn’t bother to pick it up either. When I got back up the table, a different server had picked it up off the floor and folded it on my side of the table. I don’t care that much about germs, do I didn’t say anything. But that number of touch points (by 4 employees) to overlook simply replacing a napkin seems very careless. How hard would it have been to bring a fresh napkin when I got back? The drinks? They were 10/10.
