Drinks were ok. Food was also ok. The service could of been a little bit better in my opinion, felt as if I was waiting a little longer then usually
Their rooftop is always booked for private parties and they would give a table in a small corner which does not have a view at all. Limited food options and expensive drinks.
I would recommend only under the circumstances of know what you’re getting into. It’s an extremely beautiful venue and view is amazing but I do feel some of food items are a little over priced for the portion you receive. Drinks are pricey too $18-20 per drink but they are good and strong. Service was a little slow for it not being busy & I found a hair in my food, which they quickly remedied which is good. It’s definitely a bucket list place & Instagram worthy for photos and such but I’m not certain I go again.
Looks different from the pictures I did make a reservation 3 day before and when I arrived they said I have to wait 30 more minutes
I booked a table at Elsie Rooftop almost a month before the reserved date. A friend from Italy was visiting and I wanted to show him the unique NYC rooftop experience that locals enjoy. Elsie and/or Open Table allowed me to book a table for a Sunday evening, but when I arrived prior to my reservation, Elsie was closed. I am disappointed that Open Table allowed me to book a reservation when the restaurant was closed, and that Elsie did not call me to change the reservation knowing that they would be closed.
It was closed despite our reservation this was a disappointment as it was a very hot day to be walking there for no reason
The food was phenomenal!
My group had an amazing time, and it was a perfect night to be outside. We will be back!
Good food and drinks, make sure you're dressed nicely. Service could be a tad faster but the servers are nice.
There was an event that ran into our reservation. We were seated 15 min late and people from the event kept putting their empty cocktails on our table. The beauty of the rooftop, deliciousness of the food, and good attitude from the servers saved the experience.
Beautiful place for appetizers and a view!
We made reservations and when we arrived they said they had a private event. Went back 3 times and they said they had private events. Really then why are they on open accepting reservations?!!!! When u are are a trip and make reservations you shouldn’t have to change your plans last minute as you stand in the street!!!!
The food and drinks were great. The ambience was also lovely. I was however disappointed in the service by our waitress. She seemed to exude zero interest in her job . She was Luke warm and pretty detached. I would have enjoyed my stay much better with better customer service. At least act like you want to be here. Overall I’d come back but probably wouldn’t want her waiting on me again.
Don’t bother making a reservation. The host didn’t even know what Open Table was or that I even had a reservation for 8 people.
She said she’d speak to her manager about getting a table together but never came back to seat me. I had to find my own seating for 8 people.
Service was nonexistent. They charge $2 for a glass of water.... just don’t waste your time. One of the worst bar experiences I’ve ever had.
they sat us all the way to the back outside which is not bad but it was really hot and Fans were not enough.
There was some type of event going on and the service was a little slow. I don’t know if there was a direct correlation between the two. The food was very good. It was very loud and noisy. Even outdoors on the patio was still loud. But inside you couldn’t hear anything. However, it was worth trying it out.
Don’t bother going here. At the table beside us, a tree fell onto the table and smashed all the glasses on it. These poor people had paid for bottle service too and the staff were not quick to clean up the mess. At the table to our other side, the waiter lost a mans credit card. We only had simple drinks (g&t) because the waiter said the specialty cocktails weren’t available. Really? It’s a Saturday and they wouldn’t make the cocktails on their menu. I’d understand if it was busy but the place was dead. Overall not worth it, service sucked and no cocktails! Beautiful venue but the experience was not good
Great food, ambiance & service
Trotz Reservierung keinen Tisch bekommen. Scheint System zu haben. Laut ist die Untertreibung des Jahrhunderts!! Man muss sich anschreien.
Horrible service will never come back. Food mediocre and over priced.
Very nice space. Bartenders and waitress were very professional, nice and answered any questions we had. I will be back!!
I don't typically leave negative reviews, but my experience at Elsie Rooftop was far from pleasant. Between the overpriced cocktails with hair in them, rude manager, and having to climb two flights of stairs to find a bathroom in the building, I have nothing positive to say. I expected much more from the website, but after reserving a table inside and being sat outside in a grungy corner, I was less than impressed. Definitely disappointed.
We book the venue in January and it was to celebrate my 40th birthday. As I live in Sydney we wanted the night to be amazing and the research I had done Elise’s looked perfect. I had 8 friends who had flown in from the uk to help me celebrate. We had been in contact with the venue on day to confirm if smart shorts were accepted. On arrival to the venue we checked and and was shown to the lift it was all very exciting. Until we exited he lift and was told the whole venue was booked out for a private party. Seeing how upset we were the staff quickly made a table next to the staff room under a hoarding. This meant no view I asked to talk to the manager who explained there was nothing she could do and advise if we stay until 11pm she would give us a round of free shots. We tried to make the best of the night but had to leave at 830 due to our table being under a speaker and you could not hold a conversation.
The night was totally ruined there was also a girl celebrating her 30 birthday and she received the same treatment as my group. I would accept to see many bad reviews on google over the next few days for both sets of guests.
Overall, our group really enjoyed Elsie Rooftop; definitely expensive, but you're paying to be on a rooftop in Manhattan, so not unexpected. Others noted the reservation management issues, and we had the same (reservation for 8, four of us arrived early so they sat us at a location that was maybe ok for 6, with a promise to move us when the rest of our party arrived closer to our reservation time. When we asked, we were told there was no where else to move us). Having said that, we made it work and enjoyed the evening. Waitresses were great and food was quite good as well. Would definitely go back.
Generally love this bar but for some reason they were over booked and my reservation was not honored. Service was awful.
I made a reservation for 11 and confirmed it multiple times with the staff. When I arrived I was notified that the terrace had been bought out and my part for 11 would have to start at the very crowded bar "hope" a table opens up. There was no explanation for why I wasn't contacted to inform me my table wasn't ready and the staff was completely unsympathetic - not even a free drink for the inconvenience. I wouldn't go back or recommend this place to a friend -- there's plenty of other places in NYC to go that are way more buttoned up and respectful when it comes to accommodating guests and large parties. Pro Tip: don't go.
It was like a sauna, they only serve drinks and finger foods. We made several inquiries about dinner and no one ever mentioned they didnt serve dinner
On 4th of July i made reservation online,
after i called to confirm specifically if table will be available for me since it is busy day and a girl on a phone said yes it will be available. I planned to have a dinner with my mother and it took me 1 hour to get to that place and when i get there manager is telling me that there is no place to sit and we have to wait for a table , you could not even wait for a table it was packed and basically whoever runs to the table gets the table. I left the place and walked 15 minute with my mother to find a different place. Very disappointed
Beautiful setting, amazing service with great tasting appetizers. Perfect place to enjoy summer drinks
Despite reading Opentable reviews stating that Elsie Rooftop was a mess, I reserved a space for our company's happy hour. When we arrived, the venue was closed for a private event even though they allowed us to make a reservation! Thankfully they did let us come inside, but the space was PACKED with people from the other event and we had to squeeze into couches in the corner where it was too loud to even talk. Our server was accommodating, but it was a hot mess of a night. I will not make a reservation at this space again.
We had a family party of 10 here and had a great time. Food was better than expected —and generous size for “small plates”. Service was excellent, despite the fact that we didn’t all arrive at the same time so had to keep making separate orders. Nice views and not too crowded
They didn’t keep the reservation I made 3 weeks in advance. When I asked for an explanation the host was unprofessional. Would not recommend.
Young upbeat crowd.
beer $9, drinks $18, finger food $20
It's New York, baby ;)
Priscilla was over the the top. So helpful with setting up a business dinner for 20. Very impressed by Priscilla. She made it easy. We will be back!!
The views are beautiful. The rooftop has a chic feel to it and was well laid out. We went for drinks and appetizers around 7pm on a Friday and it was busy but not packed. The server was pleasant but not helpful or engaged. The bartenders were rude. I asked to substitute one spirit for another and was told their mixed drinks are pre-made. When I questioned this, I was then told the bartender basically didn't want to sub the spirit. The prices are high because of the atmosphere but the drinks, even with the spirits they suggested were not tasty. It was mediocre at best. There are better rooftop bars with just as beautiful views.
Limited menu and service due to event They should have told us when booking reservations unable to accommodate any special request. There are better roof tops to spend $300 bucks with lame food and service
The view was amazing and my friends had tons of room to stretch their legs at the corner booth. We felt really special. Thank you!
It is a quiet and cool place where you can go to chat with friends or just relax with the view.
