We made a reservation using Open Table because we were downtown at a museum and had a big group. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess was distracted and stressed and almost dismissed us telling us she was dealing with another situation. Evidently, there had been a bar crawl and we were immediately told they were out of tacos and tequila. This was not why our group had come. We waited half an hour to be seated. She even told us that she didn’t know why we were able to make a reservation because their system had been shut down. She never once thanked us for being there or apologized for her unfriendly behavior. We were seated by the food and beverage manager who was kind and friendly and finally apologized for the wait. The food was good. We ordered the chili, kale salad and chicken fried ribeye. However, those who ordered the chicken and dumplings were surprised to see when it came out that it is a broth based soup with chicken and veggies. It’s good but more explanation should have been given because that is not chicken and dumplings. We also asked for ice for our waters which took forever. The server was very kind and did a good job with a big group. Another server or perhaps manager was apologetic for the time it took to seat us as we were leaving. Overall, this is probably not a place we’ll be returning too. They don’t seem to have everything together.
I Plan on going back at least once a month! Great Place indeed!
Absolutely terrible food. Nobody in the restaurant and now I know why. Our party of 16 all said the food was terrible. Do not eat here. Even the Old Fashion was terrible. Not a single item, even French fries, was bad.
Unfortunate. That’s how I would describe my experience. The staff was friendly. The food, however, was extremely mediocre...at best. My hashbrowns were stuck together and rubbery as if they had been microwaved. They brought out “fresh” hashbrowns that were undercooked. They offered to try again, which I politely declined. The manager, Barry, came over shortly thereafter and asked if everything was okay because he heard that we “weren’t happy.” I told him everything was fine, but explained the hashbrown situation. He asked if he could get us anything, which we declined. He insisted, so I asked for a cinnamon roll and asked that it be hot in a kitschy sort of way, teasing with him. That’s when things went left...he told me that he was 62 years old and knew how to do his job. He stated that he was trying to do what he could to make sure that when we left we would want to return. He went on to say that if we’re still not satisfied, we could leave a bad review, he doesn’t care because he knows what he’s doing and he does it well and walked away. There was actually more he said, but I can’t remember it all. My friends and I sat there uncomfortably stunned. I generally don’t leave reviews, but he asked for this one. I had zero intention of returning before this “talking to” from the manager, but assure you that said chances are less than zero, if that’s possible. It’s unfortunate because the restaurant is beautiful and has such great potential. Oh, and the cinnamon roll was dried out and hard. Unfortunate. The fruit was good and very fresh.
Overall, good food and service. We had a few issues but nothing that would keep me from returning or recommending it to others.
Hour and 20 minutes and only received appetizers. One of which was too salty to eat, but they charged us for it anyway.
We got our food to go (it was also not exactly what we ordered to top it all off).
We came in for the winter classic! I made a reservation for breakfast before the game, our service mike was great, got us in and out although they seemed a little under staffed!
We weren't sure if there was a big staff turnover when we were there, but the service was definitely off. To be fair, it was New Year's Eve and they had a prix fix menu. We sat at our table for 30 minutes (no exaggeration) before our waiter talked to us. Fortunately the hostess had poured water for us. She told us it was her first day of working there. Once our waiter came by, he was attentive and helpful. The food was probably not as good as their usual fare. We will try it another time when it's not a holiday.
I went here on NYE with my boyfriend and a couple friends. The Pre Fixe menu was $45 a person, which I had, and it wasn’t worth it. It was a three course salad, entree and dessert. It was a very plain and small portion. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, and I split a good bottle of wine with the table...but everything else was marginal. Service was poor, when the restaurant wasn’t packed, and it took someone about 20 minutes to take any drink orders. I wouldn’t go back.
Food was good but a bit pricy for serving size. Felt that price point for NYE was high based on portion size. Service was terrible. Had servers stand over me as I finished my plate to take my dish on multiple occasions. I felt rushed as did everybody in our party of 4. Multiple times we told server no to picking up our plate with food still on it. Would have comeback because food was good but service will prevent me from returning.
Greeted by amazing staff. Came here for NYE and the menu did not disappoint. The chef is more than accommodating, even with a set menu. He came to our table and made the experience just that much more personable. I would recommend this place as a must visit to anyone in the Dallas core.
Food was bland. We got our salads before we ever talked to waitress. It’s was a fixed corse meal. Would have liked to start with a drink. They rushed every course. Had to ask for the wine that was supposed to come with main course. Was half way done with steak before got my wine.
Christmas night, but they were out of most menu choices...
It was Christmas Day. Arrived on time for our reservation and was told it would be a 30 minute wait because they overbooked. After 30 minutes we were seated and watched everyone around us get served before us. It was another hour before our food arrived. It was a prefix meal and when we went to order desert, we were told there was no more. So disappointing.
The food was below average, some things being overdone while others came out cold. There gnats that nagged us throughout the meal.
Christmas Eve prix rice dinner selection was lovely. A rich pureed root vegetable soup set the tone, fragrant with spice
The stuffed roast pork loin was beautifully presented along side a moist sage stuffing and a heavenly sweet potato mash with a hint of pur maple syrup. My partner's arugula & spinach salad with candied walnuts, cranberries and mandarins was gorgeous. Both the bread pudding and the peppermint bark chocolate lava cake were sweet endings worth every calorie.
Service was a bit chaotic, being Christmas Eve, but we will definitely return.
Perfect Christmas Eve dinner with a very attentive waiter with excellent service!
The service was so so so slow! We were one of three tables in the restaurant, could never find our server and it took forever to get anything. Will not be going back any time soon.
Food was pretty good. It was not busy, but the service was REALLY slow. I would give it another try.
It was terrible from the start. We got there and there was no one to welcome us and check us in. Then the hostess tired to sit us after we told her we needed to add 2 more people. This place was not full to start and she still sat us with 10 rather than 12. No communication at all. Our waiter was terrible! He would come ever so often we didn’t get refills on water. Only one bartender and she had told us she would be a while because she was behind. Food was ok. My food came with avocado that was black. My sister’s food went back for same reason. Overall bad experience and will not go back. Hostess was pretty rude. They gave us coupons for free app or dessert.....left them on counter when I walked out.
Went for Thanksgiving Dinner. Previously told on website that regular menu would be available as well as Thanksgiving fare. Not so. There were supposedly 2 options for Thanksgiving not counting the regular menu that wasn’t available, but when we ordered they brought us the family style option which none of us ordered. The food was horrible, cold, with no seasoning. The plates were small salad plates, we had to ask for dinner plates. They brought the food with no serving utensils, soup with no soup spoons, no bread of any kind. There were dirty dishes we had to send back, virtually no service from the wait staff, and then there was a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill. This was the first holiday after losing my brother and sister within a 7 month period. We needed to do something different and have fun, instead we were sadly disappointed.
Hi, We are so sorry that we let you down on Thanksgiving. We apologize for the service you received. We also apologize for any confusion with our Thanksgiving special vs. Friendsgiving menu. We have passed along your feedback so we can make improvements. We hope you will give us another chance in the future.
We had a reservation at 130. And from the description online we were looking forward to a good Thanksgiving lunch. There was only 1 waiter.running around doing everything. We sat for 20 minutes without being greeted by our server. He was clearly stressed and in the weeds. Other staff members were just sitting around on the dining side.. also we were not expecting to be crammed into the bar side. I think this place was just under staffed and should just be closed Thanksgiving. Very disappointed. Left without drinks or food and find somewhere else.
Our service was great but the food was not. They only had one option of champagne which was Andes and my chili had so much grease floating in it I could barely eat it. We missed their breakfast menu by 30 min and that was the meal we intended to eat there. We didn’t have many options because it was thanksgiving and we didn’t make a reservation early but I would not go back here under any circumstance. I’m sure it will go the way of most Dallas restaurants.
Very delicious ! Downtown isn’t always the best location , but this is a little gem !
Brunch with family for my wife’s birthday and was disappointed by overall experience. Felt like it was a soft opening...many items on menu were unavailable even though it was 12 on a Sunday. In the end, not a horrible experience, but given all of the brunch competition out there...probably not going back which is a shame given the whiskey selection.
Our dinner was amazing, but the service was extremely lacking. We were there for almost 3 hours, yet the place wasn't even busy! We had to repeatedly ask for water refills. At one point our waiter swung by and chuckled "hey guys.. it's been awhile!" as we waited 30 minutes for dessert - which were cold and tiny and totally not worth it.
Went during happy hour specifically for their sausage dog, beer, and whisky shot special for $12 that is advertised on their website. Unfortunately they don’t offer that anymore. We ordered the poutine and the wings. Wings were good but nothing special. The poutine was disappointing. Old fashioned was good and so was the peach tea. I am disappointed that their well whisky is Jim Beam. You claim to be at whisky bar, can’t you offer something better than that? Probably won’t be back. Not for happy hour anyway.
I hosted a brunch here on 10/27/19 for a group of friends and the service was excellent. They have a great brunch menu and the drinks were phenomenal as well. The only negative aspect is the location and finding parking due to construction, but the hostess was very descriptive in detailing how to get to the valet area.
Went with a group of 15 people on short notice and had a tremendous experience. Every dish was amazing!!!
Out of everything. Slow service.
Excellent service & food!!!!
This is a really cute place. I had the brioche french toast and it was really good. I loved how they left a pitcher of water on the table for us, just wished they served their water cold and not room temperature. The server may have been new, he wasn't very knowledgeable of the menu. I had 2 issues with this place. One was parking. The valet parking was behind the building and there were no signs of where valet was. It tooks us 20 minutes to get the car parked. Another issue was that we were celebrating a birthday and they didn't do anything special for the birthday celebrant. Definitely some areas to improve. But overall we had an ok time
Good food and great service. Whiskey flights were fun. We will be back.
Very good food, great drinks list.
Very nice place!! Their food was bomb during brunch. We actually came late and they still honored the brunch menu for us.
We loved our experience here! The service was great; we bonded with the Food Service Manager, Barry. Our group LOVED the Bloody Marys! They were served with bacon, olives, cucumber, and celery! So delicious. We are brunch there, and everyone’s plate was clean by the end. The interior decor is great and I would totally go back!
My family and I went here while we were visiting Dallas. It was absolutely delicious and a great atmosphere to take your time drinking, eating and mingling. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it
Slow to get the food out
Food was great, but service was extremely poor. A manager said they were very buay, but the whole place was only 50% full.
We tried this place during restaurant week and what a find!!! The food options were great and the prices were perfect for a downtown lunch ! Awesome atmosphere and our waiter Mike was just fabulous! Can't wait to go back!!
