Our restaurant is located in the heart of Santa Ynez. We boast amazing outdoor seating with great views and because it is often a little chilly in the evening, we have heaters. We are also dog and cat friendly.
We know re-adjusting to dining out is a strange experience for everyone and we are all slowly returning. For now, we will be suspending lunch service.

Nice experience on food and people and service. However it was a small space with kitchen next to it, and we could smell cooking.

We were a bit underwhelmed by the food and our server failed to mention the specials before we ordered. We subsequently overheard another server tell a neighboring table and we would have been interested. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Perhaps we just hit an off night.
We haven't been to Ellie's since Covid and we were delighted to see that they are not only surviving but thriving! There were three of us dining and we were all quite satisfied with our meals: Eastern Crab Cakes, Chicken Pot Pie, and Mixed Greens with Bacon and Date Salad. Our service was great, the food was outstanding, and the ambiance was lovely. We had our dog with us and we sat outside on their lovely warm patio. The waitstaff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. They even brought a bowl of water for our dog. We will definitely return and add Ellie's to our short local rotation list.

Ellie’s is a beautiful rustic restaurant with delicious food and great service. The chicken pot pie and brined pork chop were both done to perfection. Can’t wait to visit again!

This was our second time to Elle's and both times, it was fantastic. The menu changes regularly, so check out the website for updates, but everything we have had has been perfection.
This time, we got the beef tartare, which was unusual; we haven't had anything like that before. We think it was the parmesan! Then, we had the duck sausage pot pie, which was off the charts savory and delicious. I had the spicy crab cake (not TOO spicy) with vegetables, which came with this creamy, bacon sauce. It was detectible. I could put that sauce on everything! (The chef, Jay, was kind enough to make me more!)
Joy (the owner) and Jay come to the tables and check on how your meal is going and chat with you. It honestly feels like you are at friends' house for dinner; everyone is so warm and welcoming.
For two people to go out for great service, a bottle of sparkling, have two appetizers, two entrees, plus dessert for well-under $200 is unheard of, but that was exactly our experience. This place is definitely a hidden gem of the SYV.
Am excellent wine list, with many local notables. I had the BLT salad followed by the steaks then finished with the rhubarb crisp for dessert. Was a random choice but turned out to be a great find. The staff/owners are very friendly and happy to provide advice if needed. Would definitely go back!
Joy and Jay, owner and chef, were wonderful. The food was excellent - thoughtful and not pretentious. The flavors on the plate were delicious and well prepared. The staff was personable, kind, generous, and enjoyable to interact with. Great wines, including bubbly wines for pre-dinner. A classic California meal without the fuss and the right portions. A truly enjoyable experience and date :-)
Farm to table, chef owned restaurant.
Started with steak tartar, w capers and lettuce, very tasty. Then had the warm apple salad w blue Roquefort cheese, walnuts and a warm honey dressing…most tasty. Followed by 8 oz filet au poivre, sauce was wonderful w green peppercorns, on top of sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked perfectly! Finished the meal with the rhubarb crisp topped w a scoop of vanilla ice cream, just the right balance of sweet and sour. All in all, loved the dinner.

Incredible all around! My mom and I were visiting from San Diego and we are coming back again tomorrow. The best crab cakes and salmon we’ve ever had… wonderful service and ambiance. Love that twin brother and sister (Veteran too) own the restaurant and took the time to ensure that we were enjoying everything. Can’t sing praises high enough for Ellie’s Tap and Vine!
I can't say enough positive things about Ellie's Tap & Vine. We were driving from LA, and our day was delayed a bit and they were able to accommodate a change to our reservation quickly and easily. When we got there, I parked down the hill in the lot (because our GPS showed to go back there) but I'd recommend parking in the lot nearest to the main street. They had a lot of outdoor seating with heaters, and their indoor seating was well-spaced and very cozy. They were playing awesome, recognizable-but-easy-to-eat-to music and when we arrived, we were promptly greeted by our server as well as the owner. Though we were told (verbally and on the menu) that they were short staffed, we didn't feel that at all. Our server was hustling, but we certainly didn't feel rushed at all. The owner, Joy, and her brother, Jay, were working hard alongside our server to make sure their guests felt appreciated, which we very much did. Everyone was lending a hand for cleaning up, and answering questions, and we were even followed up with during the meal to check in. And the meal - oh man. It was so good. When we sat down, we were informed that the menu changes very regularly but there were a few things that were always on it. We ended up ordering the warm apple salad as well as the olive tapenade - both of which were perfect to share as appetizers. My girlfriend got the filet, and Jay came out and asked how she would want it prepared, and he was able to butterfly it and cook it exactly as she wanted. The mashed potatoes that came with it were fluffy and delicious. I got the chicken cacciatore - which I've never tried before - and it was wonderful. So much chicken and stew, and the polenta was perfect. We rounded out the meal with the bread pudding, which was honestly some of the best I've had. The wines were top notch and appropriately priced, and they even had dessert wines, which is a favorite. Again, I can't recommend this place enough. They're doing things right. Thank you so much!

I absolutely adore this restaurant! The food was to die for, the chef was incredible. The staff are all fantastic, very attentive and sweet. They play soft music with dim lighting for a nice relaxing ambience.

Our challenge was trying to decide which items to order. They all sounded great. The service was incredibly friendly and a visit by the chef was an added bonus. The wine list was extensive. We chose one of our Santa Ynez Valley favorites.
The location is a couple miles outside the tourist hustle and bustle of Solvang. We highly recommend making the short drive to support a small local restaurant.

Great find in Santa Ynez. Fantastic food and wine. Very friendly staff attentive to our dining pace, which is easygoing, not rushed. The owner/chef stopped by our table near the end of our meal and was curious about our visit to the area and provided great suggestions on wineries and other locations to visit on our current trip and future visits to the area. This is the type of smaller, high quality restaurant with such personal investment in hospitality that I love to spend time and savor a meal.
Ellie’s has become our favorite place to dine on the Central Coast. We love the fresh, seasonal dishes, the ambience, and friendly staff. Each week, Joy offers a different variety of delicious starters, main courses, and desserts., and the wine selection is fabulous! My only complaint is that Ellie’s isn’t open more days of the week.
Wonderful dinner and service at Ellies. Crab cakes, duck and deserts were excellent. Would not hesitate coming here again. Very impressed with wine list and wines by the glass.

Ellie’s is where I bring all my guest when they come into town! They are ALWAYS amazed that this quality of restaurant is here in OUR little valley! Ellie’s always has a versatile and ever changing menu, the ambience is gorgeous but relaxed and comfortable. Another reason I love Ellie’s is We never feel rushed! We can take our time savoring our food and wine. (The wine list is stellar) Owner & Chef Joy actually comes out to our table and chats a moment! Where else does that happen? My guests ALWAYS love that!
NOTE ** I had the Ahi appetizer.... immediately ordered ANOTHER ONE!! PERFECTION! We also had the spicy crab cake and halibut!! Hands down, my favorite restaurant!!
We have dined here several times since she opened. Usually quite good. Last night was OUTSTANDING!! Knocked it out of the park. Baby Back Ribs were some of the best we have ever had. The Au Poivre Filet was excellent. Wine by the glass selection is one of the best in the Valley- not the usual suspects.
