Located at the luxurious HALL Arts Hotel in the Dallas Arts District, the award-winning Ellie’s Restaurant & Lounge is inspired by dining traditions that harmoniously balance an art-filled, modern aesthetic with great food and genuine hospitality at every table.

    Went for a bday brunch, several servers completely ignored our tables existence. We mentioned that we had not been seen about or served and the staff replied “oh, sorry” and still didn’t come to take our orders… we left.

    My partner and I ordered Sparkling Water, Glass of Wine, Skewer’s App, Butternut Squash Soup, Salmon Plate and New York Strip with Mashed Potatoes finishing with a Cappuccino & the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Our opinion is based out of hunger. We had a long drive to check in at the hotel. The best part of our meal was the soup and the steak. The steak’s butter was high on sodium beware of that. As a whole the food was okay. The polenta that came with the Salmon wasn’t creamy for our enjoyment. It looked and tasted like boxed polenta. The whipped potatoes was also thick. I was assuming it was going to be creamer too. It was an okay experience but not to spend over $175. Some places are losing that delicious soul in food and charging so much for easy to do at home food. No offense to the cook, they do as they’re told but that gusto was blah. The service by Scott was incredible. Make sure to ask for him if you’re not in a hurry.

    This was our 2nd visit to Ellie’s, and we really enjoyed it. Everyone was happy with their dinners. Our server Scott was very attentive. The valet parking was a big benefit, especially since we were going to a show after dinner.

    One of my favorite brunch places but we decided to have lunch here on an our wedding anniversary on Friday. Unfortunately not sure what happened with the waiters. We had one initially and she had to leave, we were assigned another waitress, she was really nice and vibrant at first, we were talking about things to do downtown and she just walked away in the middle of our conversation and completely disappeared from attending to us. We saw her at the bar though so she was still working. We eventually had to call another waitress to help. This service was just all together very weird. Not sure I will be back.

    Wanted to enjoy it but the food was just ok. The beet salad could have been better and husband wasnt asked how he wanted his lamb cooked. Either way he noted that the lamb lacked in flavor. We enjoyed the cocktails. The ambience was spectacular. Just wish we enjoyed the food more. I would come with a friend for the cocktails or a quick lunch.

    I come here when I am going to the theater or symphony. Usually have a very good lunch. This past visit my food came out cold. I asked for my fries to be hot, didn't get until I was ready to leave. I will be back.

    excellent food the chef is creative and insightful. The service is horrible. Many of the staff standing around and gossiping with each other. Staff pays more attention to each other than the restaurant patrons.

    We were very excited when we first arrived. It’s a beautiful restaurant. We were told there would be jazz playing in an hour after our arrival so we decided to really pace our dinner so we could enjoy it. They ended up starting an hour late. That was a bummer. It was too quiet and a boring atmosphere. The Tiger Prawn appetizer was not enjoyable. It was 3 shrimp wrapped in a ridiculous amount of “pastry” a bunch of crispy hay like flavorless stuff. It just crumbles everywhere. Making it hard to eat or to put the jam smear on. There was a minimal amount of jam. Not worth the price for sure. I ordered the lamb chops. Medium rare. One was cooked medium rare/medium and the other was med/med well. Our waitress never checked on us so I ate the better of the two. The couscous was over cooked and flavorless. When our waitress finally came we were done with everything. I let her know the lamb was over cooked. She said she would take care of it and walked off with the plates. No explanation of what that meant. I was still hungry…there were only 2 very small chops. She brought the check out. Nothing noted for the issue. We mentioned it again and she removed the $43. The drinks were $21 a piece and weak. I would never return.

    Fabulous new find. Well cultivated menu, locally sourced, well paired with creative wine options. And all presented in a beautiful, airy space. Service is thoughtful and good...one mixup on wine order, but quickly corrected. Highly recommended and we will continue to enjoy in the future.

    Steak and lamb chops should cook one or two more minutes but taste was excellent. Salad and green beans were tasty. Loved old fashion and drink with cinnamon rim. Waiter was awesome.

    I've eaten here twice. Once in the dining room pre-theatre and once after a show in the lounge. The ambiance is great, very clean and classy. Food is pretty good, plenty to choose from. The fries are yummy but nothing special. The entrees are your best bet. Service is very lacking. Very slow. Both times it took 5+ minutes to be greeted and a pretty extensive wait for a cocktail to come after ordering. Both time had to flag someone down to give a food order. Food is made fresh, so don't expect quick service. That said, the service was below par and I can't figure out why. They appeared to have plenty of people. Price-wise, it's pretty on par for the atmosphere and quality.

    Reagan was our waitress & she was amazing. The food was pretty decent. Jazz music was a nice addition. Very relaxed and beautiful space. They validate parking ($5 for valet). Enjoyed it overall!

    As usual, Ellie’s food was excellent and the service exceptional! We got stuck in traffic and arrived 20 minutes late … it was only 40 minutes before the Symphony was to start across the street. We told the wait staff and they suggested menu items that were quick. We placed our order, received the food & wine, finished it all (yummy!) and paid the tab … all in 30 minutes! Then we walked across the street, used the restroom, and sat in our seats with the symphony beginning about 2 minutes later! That pace was a bit rushed so “don’t try this at home”, ha! But Ellie’s helped make it a successful evening!

    We had a lovely lunch at Ellie's. This gem is tucked inside of the Hall Arts Hotel. The service was outstanding. We were greeted and escorted to our table by a friendly staff. Our waiter was very attentive and provided great customer service. The food was excellent. We had a variety of appetizers and lunch selections. This was the perfect place to have lunch in the Arts District.

    The food was fabulous but the service was very slow. We had opera tickets, which they knew, and we were scrambling to get out of there in time. We had almost 1.5 hours to dine so this should not have happened. I also had a reservation in the restaurant but they sat us in the bar with a small time for three people to dine on. But again, the food is amazing!!

    Very kind staff plus the food was AMAZING. Perfect for a business lunch or date spot. I had the salmon, and everything about that dish was delicious. My colleagues ordered burgers which looked fantastic. Will definitely be back to eat and enjoy more art work. Beautiful ambiance and space.

    I'm absolutely thrilled that I stumbled upon this place! It's not only budget-friendly but also exceptionally beautiful. My brunch experience was genuinely enjoyable. The ambiance was just right, and the interior design was truly remarkable. I must say, the standout dish for me was the potatoes – I haven't had potatoes that delicious in a long time. The service was top-notch, and I was equally impressed with the valet parking cost, a mere $5, which is fantastic.

    Dallas’ best kept brunch secret. The menu describes Ellie, who the restaurant is named after, as elegant but informal. Couldn’t have put it better myself. You can dress down but you’ll feel extra fancy if you dress it up just a bit. A nice jazzy vibe!

    We were pressed for time before the opera, and so ordered Caesar salads and the flatbread, as well as a glass of the signature Cabernet. Our server was very helpful in expediting our order. I made the reservation on Open Table because of the proximity to the Winspear and the attractive looking photos and it turned out to be a great choice.

    My favorite was the atmosphere! It’s not mouth watering cuisines. What makes this place special is the atmosphere and the decor. it’s a little pricey for the quality of food, but I guess you pay for everything else.

    My wife have stayed at Hall Arts Hotel before and ate at Ellie's Restaurant a few times. This experience was extremely pleasant - the waitress (Mi) was wonderful, professional and took exceptional care of us for a special evening. We love Ellie's menu items - always unique, fresh and well presented. Highly recommend this place - located in a fun area of downtown Dallas.
