Good food. A little too noisy to be relaxing
We had a wonderful brunch prior to a Met Opera. Short walking distance and scrumptious food!
Loved it!!!
I frequent Ella a lot as it my neighborhood place. However yesterday for Sunday brunch our waitress sort of rushed us out cause another group was waiting! And I make rez all the time so why can’t I have a nice dining experience and not be rushed. I felt that was not the best customer service.
Such a cute restaurant but the service we got left little to be desired. The waiter got our order incorrect. We weren't upset by the error and were very polite about the mistake when the food arrived. Despite this, the waiter spent the remainder of our meal glaring at our table and just rudely put the check down at the second the food our plates where removed from the table, never asking us if we wanted anything else. So despite excellent food, it the service was so disappointing and very big turn off.
We were staying on upper west side an d this restaurant matched our preferences so well. drank tequila and bourbon, nice choices. Tapas plates of, octopus, skewered steak, empanadas, mushroom croquettes, roasted brussel sprouts, and kofka sliders, all were so delicious and finely prepared. Each dish tasted homemade and all to perfection, can't wait to return. Loved this little find.
My favorite neighborhood restaurant...we are there several times a week! Have not had a bad experience yet!! Fresh, fresh food - great cocktails!
This was our first time at Ella and we went before a concert at Lincoln Center. We were very happy with our experience. We shared two tapas: Ella empanadas and smoky sprouts. Both were excellent and sharing two produced two good sized appetizer portions. We both then had the ultimate kote burger. Large portion with fries and salad. Many people ordered paella, but it takes 35 minutes to cook so we decided not to order it since we had to make a concert. Food was all very reasonably priced. Wine was expensive. It's a small restaurant and it's a good thing we had a reservation in advance. It was full the whole time we were there.
Some heat if I’m gonna be honest
Really attentive service and good food! I would definitely recommend the unlimited brunch option if you’re there on the weekend.
Always a solid place for pre-theater in the neighborhood.
Delicious! Everything was wonderful, including both cocktails and food. A wonderful choice for a night at Lincoln Center... or just if you're in the area!
One of the gems on the West Side. Great food, drinks and wait service was fantastic!
We were at Ella’s kitchen on A Saturday night around 530, restaurant was half full, service was great drinks were a little slow, but super creative drink offerings which we love. The brussels sprouts were probably the best boss I’ve ever had, I would highly recommend them. Our only complaint was that the calamari was chewy, but the dipping sauces that went with it were fantastic.
Food was terrific. A lot of interesting choices. Servers didn’t rush us at all which was refreshing.
I love this newly discovered (by me) gem. The atmosphere is calm and nice for lunch. Their protein plates, or whatever they call them where you choose 3 different things to go on your plate is wonderful. I plan to go back many more times.
No complaints about the food or service, but the noise level made any conversation pretty painful. We got out of there as soon as we could.
Good food at reasonable prices!!
An ideal place for a salad and drinks and perhaps dessert. Peaceful ambience.
This is quite a find. A neighborhood, charming little restaurant with great, healthy food. Delicious is a better word. My friend and I each had their “power bow”—I think that’s what they call it- where you pick a protein, and two other things. Really good with great service and a nice atmosphere. I will be going back many times.
Had to choose a spot for a dinner meeting on the Upper West Side, and Ella Kitchen came up as something which can be suitable for a conversation... but not on a Friday night! Boy, was the place jumping. But we were still able to have a conversation, even though I think my voice was a bit tired after the evening. The food was amazing. Just the right portions to share, so much variety! The mushroom croquette was scrumptious as well as the sliders. Don't forget to leave room for dessert. Definitely will choose this spot again although I might try for an early weekday.
Terrific restaurant. Server was excellent and knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections. Water glasses were constantly refilled. We shared 4 tapas plates-all delicious. Definitely recommend making reservations. Cozy, elegant atmosphere.
1st time dinners and for the most part dinner was amazing. Brussel sprouts to die for, there was a lemon taste to it that was fantastic. Octopus was delicious, just wished we had a bit of salt to add to it. Skirt steak and romanescos sauce amazing, but then again very hard to screw up. Seafood paella was outstanding and the best dish of the night. My only issue was the chorizo, sorry but that was not real chorizo. Not good at all, spices missing and there was not taste to it. If not that it would have been a 5 star review.
Great place
The baked eggs were out of this world, the ambiance was relaxed and easy to hear (even during brunch rush!), and the service staff was friendly and helpful! A lovely option for brunch before an afternoon movie.
Ella has such a cute neighborhood vibe. And the people are so nice! We were a table of 7 for dinner after a football game and tapas was just what we needed after chowing down on stadium food. Shareable and the option to have more if necessary. Good approachable wine list too.
On the basis of a Yelp review I selected this place for a pre-theatre dinner on Dec 26. Increasingly the traditional three course dinner has less and less appeal. The key to small plate fare is to make each one as tasty as possible,, and Ella does not disappoint here. There is a deft hand in the kitchen turning out food that leaves one feeling sated but not stuffed. We shared five dishes between two people, and might well have done with four. Excellent cauliflower with charred edges and a slightly smoky taste; lamb kofta that resembles "sliders" but is much more distinguished with even the toasted mini-buns of superb quality; a generous portion of spicy shrimp that continued sizzling at the table for at least another 90 seconds (note to chef: shorter cooking will leave these more tender) and the masterstroke: mushroom croquettes with finely chopped and well seasoned funghi in crispy balls that are a delight to the palette. When I go back I plan to double up on these, even for two people. Two orders is a no brainer for 3 people, as they are five boulettes to an order and clearly a signature dish here. If you haven't had a taste-bud-ectomy, you will not fail to devour these delightful creations with relish. Okay, no relish, please...only gusto!
Great food. Drinks were tasty but pricey. We were five people and our table was on the small side and very close to the tables next to us. Overall, the food wins out, and we will return.
Excellent as always!
Ella was absolutely wonderful for our small group holiday celebration!
The staff was delightfully welcoming and the service warm and lovely. Everyone from vegetarian to carnivore was happy with their dish, and unanimously found the food to be delicious.
Neighborhood staple.
The service and food was very good. We had the charred octupus , a salad both were very tasty.
My dining partner enjoyed the salmon, remarked it had lots of flavor. I had the chicken paella it was delicious.
Everything was absolutely fantastic- however, it was EXTREMELY hot in the restaurant. I was sweating (which rarely happens) and everyone at the table agreed it was borderline unbearable, making it difficult to enjoy everything else.
Fantastic food and great service good value for city, with a great relaxed atmosphere.
We have been to Ella many times, and always have had a great experience.. the paella 🥘 is great .. and the tapas is delicious
Outstanding variety of tapas- all well prepared with great flavor! Nice ambiance! You have to go here. Gem!
I really loved everything, great tapas and drinks! Get BOTH sangrias
We like the food at Ella and have eaten here a lot. But the wine pour is absolutely ridiculous. It is comical how little is in the glass, especially since prices are $15 a glass. Our party of four all did a double-take when the glasses were served. While I'm not complaining about the price - many restaurants we frequent have similar prices - they should be pouring a reasonable amount of wine in the glass.
Nice little neighborhood place with a variety of food choices that were well prepared.
The salmon burgers were tasty. Server was attentive and price was appropriate for UWS.
This was our first time and -- since our granddaughter is named ELLA -- was a sweet experience.
