Elize was, as it always has been, excellent. Unfortunately that was the last night of operation. They are a victim of the pandemic. I am thankful that they existed in Orlando and it is a shame they weren't able to survive.

It was a date during the protest and the pandemic, so the restaurant was quiet. Everything was terrific though. The restaurant feels great. It’s nice enough to be dressy or more casual. The bartender and server were friendly and helpful, and most importantly the food was fresh and tasty. We were especially pleased with how good the raw oysters were. One of the best restaurants in Orlando. It’s definitely going to be one of our regular places to eat downtown.

We both did the chef's tasting menu and were very happy with the food and quantity. Our entree choices were hangar steak and shrimp. Loved the chick pea soup and deviled egg starter as well as the burata and tomato and salmon tartar seconds.

One of the best meals we've had in a very long time. Food is excellent. Front of house could use some more training in describing the food, wines, pairings, etc... But they were prompt and attentive.

Wow! What a lovely meal. First time dining at Elize and certainly the beginning of many more meals to come. First off the staff is very friendly and welcoming from the first hello to the last thank you. Service was efficient and helpful - immediately fixing a rocking table and patiently explaining some of the preparations. The food was delicious - allowing us to enjoy the unique and satisfying dishes of the Netherlands we remember from our travels there. The best part is that they come in full or half portions so you can try several offerings. The food is simple yet full of flavor - both subtle and complex . The oysters were fresh, cold, and served with the perfect mignonette. The boiled zucchini salad was refreshing with the caramelized onions, fennel and dill yogurt. The black cod had a golden brown crisped skin and served over a buttery orzo with a fennel slaw. A great balance of flavors and textures. The roasted chicken also had a golden and crispy skin embracing juicy succulent meat with charred tender brussel sprouts, heirloom carrots and mustard seeds sauce. The fresh strawberry with basil ice cream was the perfect ending - and clearly embodied the simple yet precise philosophy of the food here. Elize is a great addition to downtown Orlando, one of the few restaurants doing everything well and is not be missed.

Great ambiance, amazing new design and decor for the new restaurant. Menu was very different and items you don't typically see. The portion was a bit disproportionate. My wife and I decided to visit this restaurant before a show at Dr. Phillips and ordered the bread board which was fantastic, but then ordered an "upside down pizza" which was great but wasn't sure I would have called it a pizza, and then had Raviolo and a fish of the day for our entree's. One entree was the small portion and the other was the larger portion, yet both came in the same size dish. The food was excellent, but the portions just seemed off. Definitely would recommend but just wonder about their portions.

This was our first visit to Elize for my wife and I since it replaced one of our favorite spots the Rusty Spoon. We were impressed with the updated decor but the abundance of hard surfaces makes for a somewhat noisy atmosphere. Plus the front door being left open on a cool evening made it a bit cold and drafty at our table. So much for ambiance; we were served by an outstanding server Nathan who recognized us from his former employer the now-closed K Restaurant. I had checked out the menus earlier online was hoping they would serve the burger from the lunch menu for dinner in hopes it was as good as the “55 Burger” of the former Rusty Spoon. My experience is restaurants will do this at least for the burger but not Elize. Unfazed, I ordered the 12 Vegetable Salad and Beef Carpaccio to share for starters. Both the Carpaccio and the innovative lettuce-less Vegetable Salad were exceptional. For the main course I had the Beef Cheeks and my wife the Hanger Steak. I loved the Beef Cheeks and rated it 5 stars. Unfortunately, my wife gave only 3 stars to the Hanger Steak due to being served rare- not the ordered medium rare- and somewhat lacking in taste- and lacking any of the spinach accompaniment promised on the menu. (My wife did not send her undercooked steak back as our practice is to never send food back to the kitchen.) Despite our uneven experience, Elize shows promise and we will return soon.

The hostess came over to our table to see if we had any menu questions. She ended up offering to pick our meal out if we trusted her. We are glad we did, she chose our food and wine pairings and everything was delicious. Even better than the food was the enthusiasm and love for the food that she shared with us. Only after we were done did we learn that she is the chef’s wife. It was a great meal and we will definitely be back.

Elize serves a predominantly seafood menu and it smelled like that as soon as you walk in. It wasn't fishy in a bad way but you definitely knew fish was on the menu. Food was excellent and the fact that every item is available in a full or half portion was great. This allowed me to not have to pick between the two items that I wanted and ultimately I think this is a great idea for a lot of restaurants. I'm not giving 5 stars because although everything was good and the restaurant offered a refreshing concept, the slight fish smell and a longer than normal wait for our food just sets it back in my mind. If I wasn't going to something after dinner, I may have overlooked the wait for food. All in all a solid choice.

Elize is a wonderful addition to downtown. The space is beautiful and comfortable. The staff is polite and efficient. Michelle, the owner, is a delight and works hard to ensure every guest has a memorable experience. And of course the food! It was one of the best meals. I love the idea of dishes being served both as main courses and as tapas to fit the needs of each table. And don’t skip dessert! The strawberries and basil ice cream was refreshing and just the right amount of sweet to end the meal. Elize is a new downtown favorite.

So disappointed. I had business guests for lunch and remembered the place as the Rusty Spoon. Chef/Owner has changed. Service polite but inattentive. They were out of their signature dish. My fish and chips were no better than Captain D's. New owners, so perhaps they are working out the kinks. I hope so. Very convenient for my business trips but I cannot risk taking clients here until there is much improvement.

Had dinner with family here. I arrived way too early and I sat down at the bar to wait for everyone to arrive. I had a great conversation with barman Mark, he's very knowledgable and obviously passionate about what he does. The bar is well stocked, they have Guinness on draft and a good whisky selection. The ambiance is pleasant, modern and welcoming. Noise levels are slightly on the higher side, but not at all at a level that it interferes with a normal conversation. They have this great concept where you can order each meal either appetizer or entree sized. We all started out with two appetizer sized dishes, I had the carpaccio and the beef cheeks. The beef cheeks were super tender and the carpaccio took me straight back to a vacation in Italy many years ago, simply sublime! To be honest the portions were slightly bigger than I expected and I could probably have ended the meal after those two, but everything tasted so good and we had such a great time, that I ordered some more. I ordered the, again appetizer sized, hanger steak and the roasted shrimp. The hangar steak was a perfect medium-rare and very tasty, the shrimp were out of this world; they come with a velvety, creamy mash and with a slightly nutty butter sauce, the dish is nothing short of sensational! We finished the night by sharing a chocolate lava cake and I had a glass of Lagavulin. All in all a fantastic experience, highly recommendable!

The food was delicious, but small in portion. We each ordered a main size hot meal for approximately $22 each but the portions were way too small to be considered a full entree. For example, hangar steak came with basically nothing but meat and a little garnish. Expect to order a full size portion PLUS at another half portion of something at a minimum. All four of us left rather hungry but had no time to order more before the theater. Although the concept of half and full portions of each item on the menu is interesting, I think the server should have emphasized more that a full portion is still not equal to a traditional entree. The menu is really more of a tapas style and that should have been explained. Of course, ordering more means its going to cost more so I would expect to have to pay in the $30s or $40s to do that. Also, the place seems very empty most of the time which does not inspire me to go back.

Went to Elize for Valentine's day with hubby ..(we have been there before when it was The Rusty Spoon ) and were excited to give it a try . Ambiance was nice for the occasion and menus were presented as scrolls (nice touch) , complimentary glass of champagne each (although we were told on phone that it would be a bottle of champagne). Someone from the restaurant had called to inform us of them having a preselected Valentine's menu as we had reservations and we were ok with that . Upon arrival service was nice and appetizers were ok . Entrees were choice of sea bass or hanger steak so we ordered one of each. My original piece of fish was nice fist size but was obviously undercooked so it was sent back. They brought another piece back to me that was a quarter the size ! I made a comment did my fish shrink ? And manager came over and I was given another small piece to accommodate. Husband ordered the hanger steak and it was 4 small medallions with no side ..at least my petite fish piece had rice beneath it with mushrooms! Then dessert was served ..basically a brownie and the dollop of basil ice cream was not bad. Overall did not care for the preselected Special menu at $65 per person and it was a Special occasion . Sorry ! Was not impressed with the food items and portions for this night.

I was a very loyal patron of the former restaurant in this space, The Rusty Spoon. It was always a great experience when I visited them. I tried Elize for the first time last Saturday evening and I was very impressed. The new decor was very European and contemporary and the menu was fantastic. I liked the simplicity of the menu choices and the ability to order half or full portions for any items selected. My salad, entree and dessert were all excellent. I will be a frequent diner@ Elize and definitely recommend them!

I had posted in the notes my husbands birthday, wasn’t looking for anything free but an acknowledgement would have been nice. Server could have been a little more enthusiastic about the menu items...food was excellent! Drinks were good, especially the cucumber mule that came in a copper mug, the rum cocktail was a little underwhelming for my friend and it being brought in a martini glass was strange, I think it appeared in the menu like it would have been a dark and stormy. Will definitely go again. Thank you!

ElizeResponded on January 29, 2020Dear Allyson, Thank you for your feedback! I'm sorry the food was slow coming out of the kitchen. With our new menus we've also introduced many new ways of working in the kitchen. These guarantee better dishes and improved preparation times. Although we train often, the adaptation of this new way of working has incidentally caused a slow down. The food was delicious and our server was very nice and accommodating but the service was incredibly slow. It took forever to get our drinks and they would all come at different times. When we finally were able to put our food order in it was extremely slow to Come out and again some people got their food way before others. The main course was unbelievably long to come out. Ice everything was served it was delicious and they did say it was like a “soft opening” but the restaurant was not very busy at all so seemed strange that it all took so long. Hopefully they’ll get this issue cleared up and it would have been a much better experience with better service or attention. Surprisingly the either manager or owner walked past our table several times with out paying any attention to us-empty plates and glasses sat there for a long time which was unfortunate.

ElizeResponded on January 29, 2020Dear SarahW, Thank you for your feedback! Our apologies for not having the best experience possible at Elize. Orlando has some terrific restaurants, but I’ve always been missing a place for fine dining; exciting food beautifully presented. Well, today I found it at Eize! They have a new, highly skilled Chef from Europe who just does magic with food. First he came to our table and explained his style and menu. Dishes are in two sizes, that way you can chose to try different dishes or for a more regular appetizer / entree scenario. It was honestly fantastic and Elize is going to be our new go to restaurant in town!
