Eli’s Table Ratings and Reviews
The place was beautiful. We sat outside under the heaters which kept us very warm with the cool weather. They food was great. So interesting pairings but they worked! Our drinks and appetizers were delicious. I would recommend this to friends and family but it is not a place for picky eaters!
I made a reservation online about an hour in advance because my friend and I were having trouble deciding where to go. We were seated as soon as we arrived and were given complimentary champagne. We ordered the beef carpaccio appetizer and I just about swallowed it whole. Delicious! I then ordered the duck and waffles and my friend ordered the catch of the day, which I believe was grouper. My friend wasn’t too hungry, but devoured her meal and I did the same. Excellent! I enjoyed an elderflower cocktail that was sweet and delightful. The waitstaff was wonderful. I eat out a lot and I rarely have such an exceptional experience.
In our table of 4, the wine was wonderful.
Our appetizers were good as well, although one meal was undercooked ( salmon ) which was
requested medium well.
Our meals seemed to take a while to prepare..........ordinarily it would not have mattered much,
but that evening we were preparing to attend a performance.
I have dined here many times and never disappointed. On the 15th, we were entertaining out of
town guests, so I felt some dismay regarding the food preparation.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
We had eaten a delicious brunch at Eli's Table a few weeks ago and decided to try dinner there. We had a table on the patio which was quiet and comfortable. But our initial impression was not good: everyone tasted their water and it tasted like vinegar. We alerted the staff who told us that the pitchers are sometimes cleaned with vinegar, hence the problem. Later in the evening one of our party was given a water refill, and again, had vinegar water. We had 3 appetizers: fried green tomatoes (which were wonderful), beef carpaccio (so-so) and fig crostini (good but overpriced for what it was). One of our party had a steak which was cooked perfectly. I had shrimp and grits which I found disappointing. A third person had scallops which she said were good but oversalted. A fourth had the wrong dish brought out initially but found the snapper she ordered quite good when they brought it. We might return for brunch at some later date, but for dinner we will look elsewhere.
I believe Eli's Table suffers from the same issue a lot of Charleston restaurants have and that is being short staffed. We were there for breakfast and ate on the patio. There was one server taking care of the entire patio. Once we did receive our food it was at best mediocre. We had high hopes but were disappointed.
Joined another couple for dinner at Eli's Table before going to the theater. We dined early in the evening so it was not crowded. Three of us had the special (the grouper) along with the beet salads and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The wait staff was excellent. Our waiter Tony made excellent recommendations and was quite attentive. Highly recommend--we will be back.
This was an excellent find in Charleston - despite many other business dinners, this gem had eluded us. Chef offered a custom meal for the vegan in our group. Had fried green tomatoes and sweet potato pancakes for apps and multiple seafood dishes for entrees. Dessert options sounded delicious but we ran out of appetite.
We were in town for Citadel's homecoming weekend. We wanted something we could walk to from our B&B. Our local friends recommended us trying Eli's Table. They know we like quite and not too fussy but at the same we are foodies and particular about what we are served. And they didn't steer us wrong. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dinner...nice size portions (no wondering if the entree is an appetizer). The wine menu was very well done and our waiter was outstanding. We sat outside under the covered patio which was nice as it had rained earlier. We will be back...next time with our local friends.
Had an EXCELLENT meal at Eli's Table. We visit Charleston every year --- mainly to eat and will definitely return for breakfast/brunch (served until 3 pm every day). Grits were best I've ever had (will convert even non-grits lover). You must try the Bacon Bloody Mary --- best bloody mary I've ever had.
Food was excellent as usual. The service was not up to the standard we are used to at Eli's table. Service was not as efficient. Took several requests to get routine items handled. This was the first time this has happened so we will return again assuming it was just a quirk of the evening.
We have been here a few times and always love it. It did take a little while to get our drinks and orders, but our waiter was also given several tables at once. We did not complain, but he credited us for our drinks and appetizer for our wait. Fried green tomatoes and filet are awesome. I’ll be back for sure :)
I can’t say enough about how wonderful this restaurant is. We have been here many times and each time we are reminded of just how wonderful the service is and how dynamic and amazing the food is. We will continue to hold Eli’s as our favorite dining experience anywhere which is not easy, particularly in Charleston with so many top notch restaurants. Thanks again for an amazing meal!!
The service was very good, Tina was exceptional as were the others who provided her support. Had the catch of the day 'Grouper' which was excellent, grilled with a tomato reduction sauce. The Shrimp and Grits were creamy and spot on, one complaint was that there were only 4 med/small shrimp on plate. Must do appetizer is the Fried Green Tomatoes. Wine list was a bit small considering the presentations and creativity of the chef.
We were greeted with a happy Friday!! Wonderful manager; terrific server Hillary; I had filet mignonette; my son had the ribeye steak ; the shrimp and pancake appetizer was delicious as were the salads. A really wonderful, relaxed meal in a low key trendy setting
We ate at Eli‘s table at 9:45 AM on a Tuesday. Service was extremely slow. There were approximately six other tables of customers waiting with no food. It took a while for anyone to offer us drinks and took a very long time to get our meal.
When we were served, we were pleased to find our food very hot and appetizing. The Holy City Croque Madame and the Shrimp and Grits Benedict were excellent. The Gouda grits and the Beignets were delicious. I would highly recommend the Bacon Bloody Mary and the Caramel Crusher (non-alcoholic iced espresso drink).
The Chorizo Cheddar Frittata has good flavor, but was a little dry. The fingerling potatoes inside were cut into too large of chunks.
Overall, I would recommend it, but the wait staff needs more training.
