Elevation Tavern and Grill
Book your next event with us
seemed to be under staffed the night we were there. hostess greeted us after 5-10 minutes of arriving. waiter was knowledgeable and attentive when he was present. food was good, not excellent. will give it another try when back in the area.
We were giving Elevation a second try, after walking out a year or so ago (Elevations then too) for taking too long to come and take our order. We are part time residents and wanted to know if things had changed because we are involved in a wedding coming up in Linville and wanted to know whether to recommend the restaurant in the wedding material to the 150 people attending the wedding. They're from major metropolitan areas in northeast US and have never been to the High Country. We just don't know what to do now. We had a bad experience again. 1) Really couldn't tell who our server really was. It didn't make sense that the girl at the check in desk, who wasn't dressed like wait staff could have been our server. 2) Someone did fill our drink order but never came back to refill our glasses. Asked the person who delivered our food for refills and he eventually did it. 3) Heard three other tables around us complaining to the owner about poor service. He was caught unaware of their particular situations, as you would suspect, but we find it hard to believe that, all of this combined, he isn't aware that he's got a problem with the service culture at his restaurant. The food was good. Nothing to rave about, but solid. So, it's a shame to have to forego rec'ing the place because of the frustration we would be setting our friends/guests up for. The meal wasn't strong enough to overlook the service.
My husband and I have been Open Table customers for many many years. We chose this restaurant to celebrate two wedding anniversaries and two teenage birthdays during our annual family mountain vacation. There were 11 in our party. The owner greeted us and brought champagne for those celebrating anniversaries. It was a thoughtful gesture.
Our server confirmed the options on the children’s menu and told us their beverages were included. The check reflected the children’s entrées were priced the same as an adult entrée of $15 and beverages were charged separately at $3.00 apiece. Another member of our party specifically asked that pineapple salsa not be placed on their tacos, so she only ate the shrimp from 2 of the 3 tacos, once she realized it was not on the side. The owner was only willing to credit a portion of the cost because it was not immediately brought to the attention of the server.
The waitress (owner’s daughter) was not attentive regarding the accuracy of our meals nor did she refill our beverages. One of our family members refilled our water glasses. When we received our bills, we were charged an additional fee for using credit cards and over 23% gratuity was added to the check, on top of tax and the credit card fee.
Even though the ambience of the restaurant was very nice, and several family members found their entrées to be delicious, this was intended to be a celebration and annual family vacation. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very stressful and dissatisfying dinner.
I find it not quite right you were given a free bottle of Champagne one person ate two of the three tacos and said they didn't want them it was discounted we do not give free drinks to kids sorry but we did for you and no one filled there own drinks did not happen. End of meal she complained about CC service fee big sign up front, printed on menus. didn't like the 20% gratuity on a party of 10 standard, walked out on her $118.00 bill not right so please tell the truth Please pay your Bill
Awesome meal and great staff. Lived the beautiful tables and ambiance. I left my credit card there after dinner and when I called the next morning, they had safely secured it and held it for me until I picked it up.
Wow!! Thank you so much for the gluten free options!! Everything was delicious! The rice flour calamari fries were amazing! We loved the dipping sauces! Everyone needs to try the warm honey baked Brie cheese!! Yummy! The French onion cheese burger with Gruyere cheese, horseradish mayo and caramelized onions was absolute perfection. Our server was great! He really helped us with the menu options. He was very attentive with a great personality. The wine selection was very impressive.
The live music in the bar was the icing on top! Soft jazz on a Sunday afternoon can’t be beat! We are looking forward to our next visit!!! Can’t wait to try the mountain trout.
It could have been wonderful, but it just wasn’t. The staff tried mightily- but parts of my dinner were cold, my steak was overcooked, and while they tried to fix some things - they weren’t attentive enough to realize that there were problems. It got to the point where we stopped asking before we were just ready to leave. In addition to that the meal was extremely expensive considering the quality.
A group of women had lunch here. Had a great waiter...he was most accommodating. All the meals arrived at the same time. The food was tasty and hot.
I will not frequent again as they have two prices one for cash and one for credit cards. Rinky dink’
Wonderful service I believe her name was gabby and she was perfect
We were welcomed in a friendly manner by Felix. Our server was Gabby. Two of us had a seafood pasta dish that was tasty and delivered nice and hot. I had a pepper garlic shrimp with pasta that was really good. After dinner we had Irish Coffees, with such precision. It was an outstanding end to the evening.
Overall a pleasant experience for our first time visiting Elevations. our entrees were very good and mostly as described. The pork chop was small and we thought they should have served two of that size for the price. Tenderloins were great but could of used a side sauce if some kind (bernaise?) - the menu description included one but it was no longer served. Wish we were hungrier as the appetizers sounded wonderful. Prices not too bad for the type of food, great service and pleasant ambiance- we’ll be back.
Great food, good ambiance. Awful service. At 6:30 they were out of the entree we wanted. We ordered a fairly expensive wine, and it arrived to our table already opened with a different cork in it. When they poured the first glass it was full of cork debris. When we questioned it, our server showed us the original cork, which had broken and dispersed cork debris. They then poured the wine through a strainer vs replacing it. Then they forgot our salad and brought the entrees. Disappointing. We support local restaurants and hope they get it together.
So excited to see rice flour used for the calamari ! I have a gluten sensitivity and so hard to eat out. Would be great if you had a dedicated fryer for French fries and to cook fried food like calamari in. Also using rice flour or all purpose gluten free flour on other fried food like chicken.
Enjoy eating at your restaurant, the gluten free buns are great too! Thank you.
We really enjoyed ourselves at Elevations. The food was excellent, menu was diverse and the ambiance was great. I think we had a new waiter. Messed up the order but all in all we had a wonderful time and will certainly go back.
Great food, reasonably priced, great service and owner VERY personable!!!
Very comfortable rustic chic
Good was pretty good
Tableside bananas Foster were terrific
Service a bit confusing. Some training on several items eg how to fill water glasses without splashing over
Clearing plates before next course
The most unusual was telling us how the credit card fee is added to the check. ( American.Express told them to do this so tht the customer pays and not the restaurant!!!)
We have never experienced anyone telling us this and we fine out 2-3 times a week. Seemed unnecessary
The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. Very friendly staff
The food was delicious and the service excellent.
Our waitress was slow and not friendly and appeared not to want to be there, but the food and ambiance is great.
Loved it! Owners are great
Absolutely wonderful in all aspects! Loved it! Thank you for a delightful dinner....
Terrific service and exceptional well prepared salads and entrees. Trout and pork chops are best we have had a d the mussels are a culinary event! Ambiance of the interior and friendly attentive service makes for a memorable experience. We return every trip back to Seven Devils.
Food was fine, not exceptional. Service was exemplary from the moment we walked in: attentive, professional, pleasant and timely. I had read some bad reviews about service and was apprehensive, but our experience was perfect.
Very nice! Perfect for a leisurely lunch or dinner with a high class feel. More of an adult environment but even the kids felt welcomed.
The food was mediocre for the price. The music came on overhead and we could hardly hear eachother talk. The waitress was in a hurry to take my plate before i was finished. This is the 2nd time this season but we will not ba back for dinner
One of our absolute favorite places to dine in the High Country
Food well prepared but not that special and service was sub par
Fantastic. Low Key and enjoyable!!!
We’ve eaten here many times and have previously had great experiences. We were excited to have another great restaurant in the area, however the last two time we have waited over an hour to an hour and a half for our meals. The first time we ended up having to leave, but this time we waited. The food was good, but they seem very unapologetic about the long wait times.
Our orders got confused and not to much concern over it. From the staff. Also got overcharged.
Food was great.
The first thing we see walking up to and in the restaurant was signs saying they were not accepting walk-ins. Luckily we had reservations. Well, the restaurant wasn’t full, wasn’t the whole tome we were there. Let me say we are reasonable people and always tip 20%. However, this experience was awful. From having to stop and ask someone for more water but never got anymore, never being asked if we wanted more wine, never asked if we wanted dessert, appetizer coming with the meal (excuse was they were so busy), meal was cold, burnt and not edible, took 20 mins to find waitress to get the bill, we were there for 1 1/2 hrs. The waitress decided she would offer water “to go” if we wanted it. We said we would have appreciated water with the meal and better service. Worst experience ever. Terrible meal. Awful customer service. Don’t waste your time or money at this restaurant. Try Joy Bistro or Vidalia in Boone, or any of the other restaurants in the area.
While the food was good, we were very disappointed in the management for preparing/training our waitress. She was very friendly and on top of trying to take care of us. However, she never told us any specials that were not on the menu - learned after the meal there were two apps and two entree options, she did not know what “draft” beer was, my husband ordered a specific bourbon pour that he knew was at the bar and she asked about it and was told by the OWNER they didn’t have that bourbon, complimentary bread was served at all tables around us shortly after being seated and we finally had to ask for some when our entree arrived, she didn’t not seem to have a basic knowledge of the menu because we had to point to each thing we ordered so she could write it down, plus a few other small things. We also walked by what appeared to be an office on the way to the bathroom. The door was standing wide open in the middle of the walkway and there was a dog in there - right beside the kitchen. This door remained open for our entire dining experience. Just before we left the dog was carried out of the restaurant THROUGH THE KITCHEN. As I mentioned before, our sweet waitress seemed to do well with what she had to work with, but was severely undertrained for this type of restaurant and price point. This goes back to reflect on MANAGEMENT, not her.
The food was excellent, the tables were not right on top of each other, the live music 🎶 was enjoyable and not so loud that though you could hear it well, you could still have a conversation at your table. We had a lovely evening.
Excellent restaurant, vibrant bar and really good food.
Busy time. Owner waited on us. 50 mins later we flagged waiter down who checked and said food was 3 mins out.
10 mins later I convinced my wife to finally leave. I believe we could have sat there for afternoon without any interaction from staff.
Perfect place for our anniversary dinner.
We had a terrible experience here and would not recommend it. We waited over 45 minutes for our meal. People who came in after us were served before us. I ordered the beet salad with chicken. The greens were rotting and the bite if chicken I tried was so salty I needed to drink an entire glass of water to wash the taste away. My husband ordered the pork chop which was very thin but we were told it took a long time to cook so that's why our food took so long. His asparagus had the woody stem still on it. The waiter we had should probably try another career because his customer service is non-existent. Overpriced and bad service.
Great food and service!
We were in a bit of a hurry and our wait person was obviously new so the entire experience was just OK. We had to wait for drinks, wait to order, and then wait a long time for food. The food was OK but nothing special. Will not try again.
We came here on vacation, the food was AMAZING! The 18 ounce ribeye was sooo tender. The price is a little expensive. This is more of a special occasion type of place. One of the better diners in Banner Elk. Some of the others we’ve tried, we weren’t impressed.
