About Élevage at Epicurean Hotel
Élevage features a menu so well-crafted it recalls the past but lives fully in the present. Located in the food-focused Epicurean Hotel and developed out of Bern's Steak House traditions, we continue to do things differently with great pride and passion. Using the freshest, premium ingredients and preparing them with modern cooking techniques, two-time James Beard Semi-Finalist Chef Chad Johnson and Chef de Cuisine Jonathan Atanacio's culinary passions are translated into the nostalgia of your childhood with a signature twist. The concept of “Nostalgia meets Nouveau” is embodied in every element; down to the décor of reclaimed wood and industrial accents.
Join us for a hand-crafted beverage experience at Élevage Bar and EDGE Social Drinkery. Our world class wine list is curated from the Bern's family, and our craft beer selection is locally inspired. We invite you to Awaken Appetites Unknown!

Élevage at Epicurean Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We came in for Sat lunch and discovered they only had brunch at this time. We stayed and i throughly enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits. He had the piroge dish and just about licked the plate! Service was average. No complaints really, just a little slow to refill drinks.
Staff is not trained, food was better this time. The place was empty yet it was so hard to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance because they had to check with management to reserve a table for 9. They told my daughter they were going to charge us $3 per person to slice my wife’s 50th birthday cake and they told us we couldn’t bring balloons and flowers. Just eat the $18 steak sandwich so you won’t be disappointed.
We attended Elevage for the first time and based on the fact it is located in The Epicurean Hotel and associated with Bern's Steakhouse we were really looking forward to an first class meal. We cannot say enough about the outstanding service we received, as the entire staff was wonderful and very attentive. We were somewhat disappointed in the filet minion that one of us ordered, as it was not very flavorful and was just average to say the least. Better steaks have been had at lesser restaurants for far less. Overall we did enjoy our experience at Elevage and would go back again for another try because we really enjoyed the atmosphere and service!
I've been to Elevage a few times over the last year. This venue is awesome as it is wine and food themed. I love their rooftop bar, but happy hour is only observed at the bar downstairs which can get crowded, but is super fun. I highly recommend the Brunch tasting menu (Bring 3 people so you can all order everything and share). The staff is attentive, helpful and friendly. I have not done dinner here yet, but will be back! I have to tell you I don't like eggs, but I ordered a scrambled egg the first time I was there and it may be the best egg I've ever eaten. Good for a date, a friend's get together, birthdays or special occasions. I'd be there all the time if I was in South Tampa!
Service overall was nice. But after a somewhat terrible steak that we paid over $100 for i am definitely NOT going to ever recommend this place. They start with the is a "Berns" steak... then I spend 45 minutes waiting for what I think will be a phenomenal steak...i can barely cut the steak with the amount of grizzle and fat and there was no flavor on the actual meat. I have not been to Berns but if it is like this I will not ever go and I will not pay the money to eat here when I can spend it somewhere else where I can enjoy the food!
Excellent food. They swung and missed in a few areas that I don't think are the norm: my wife's mushroom soup was not hot, not warm, but cold. When questioned about it they replaced it and apologized immediately. They also took it off the bill. The noise level was a lot higher than you would expect at a place like this. It could be a romantic place, but it was too loud for normal conversations on the Sat. night we dined there. On a few of the sides, they seemed to try too hard: the Brussel sprouts for example: already a bitter food. They soak in balsamic and add bacon, which is fine, but then they add walnuts? A very bitter nut. Not sure what the idea was there. Seems like everyone has now left pine nuts and add walnuts to everything. It was a poor pairing. My filet was pure heaven, as was my tomato soup. Excellent food, excellent experience, and service that was expected for a place of this caliber.
Best food ever!! T bones was more flavorful than Bern's. Loved Chili Oysters, Deviled eggs. Calamari was too limey for our tastes. Mushroom bisque was fabulous... and then I tried hubbys GERMAN POTATO SOUP. OMG, it is was so good!! Creamed spinach & mascarpone potatoes were done just right. So we were too ful to order dessert. Or so I thought.... Just had to try the "pumpkin lava bread." We ate until were stuffed. Not sure how often we can go back as there are way too many things on the menu that we liked. But we will be back this week. It will now be on our go to favs for dinner.
We came for our first anniversary. We didn't have high expectations as we hadn't heard anything good or bad about it. We were very happy with our experience! We started out with the bread basket which was good. Next, I ordered the frenh onion soup. It is VERY smokey! It was good, but likely wouldn't order again. For our meals my husband ordered the steak sandwich and onion rings, and I had the ceasar salad with chorizo. I really enjoyed mine, but the star of the show was my husband's meal. Best onion rings I've ever had, and his steak sandwich was excellent. I'm sure we will be back again!
Great place for a great meal. I've never had a bad experience. I've dined here for special occasions or just to relax and every experience has been wonderful. Jennica is the best. Very attentive and helpful. I would recommend it for any occasion. I'll be back.
We were welcomed by Bridget and she was extremely gracious. Our server was Joel and he did an amazing job, always checked on us but not too much.
I had indicated to the restaurant that we were celebrating our anniversary and they absolutely blew us away by going out of their way to help us celebrate. They brought us Champagne to start the evening and then followed dinner with an after dinner liquor.
When Joel returned with our check he gave my wife a card that was a handwritten happy anniversary from the staff at Elevage. Wow! Extremely professional and we will absolutely be back. What an impression they made on these first time customers!
We celebrated our 26th anniversary at Elevage, and noted in our reservation request that we had a show to get to. We were seated right away, and our server wished us a happy anniversary and mentioned that he understood we had show tickets and would make sure we stayed on time. He then brought us a couple of complimentary glasses of champagne! We enjoyed the Snapper for 2 and had plenty left over. Everyone was very friendly. We will definitely be back!
We love this place and the food is great. The waiters should stop trying to be sommeliers when they're not. I've recently had 3 very different and fruity wines described to me as "earthy". Sounds more like they learned a new word than they actually knew what they were describing. Funny but unnecessary.
From beginning to end, Elevage lived up to the hype and reviews. The food was incredible, and the service was excellent. Tiffany, in particular, is a valuable asset as a client-focused server who truly seems to love what she does.
Elevage has become our go to for celebratory occasions and did not disappoint for our wedding anniversary celebration.
Jorge gave exemplary service and was pleasant and appropriately attentive. Thanks for the card and the celebratory cava!
Only one niggle...the bread basket was not up to it's usual standard....bread was stale. Otherwise, the vichysoisse, Homage do Bern's sandwich and the salmon grenoblaise were outstanding!!!
See you soon.
Food good but expensive for the quality. Server was very attentive but seemed arrogant and we felt judged by our questions and choices. That sort of colored the experience. But trying to be very objective, this place did deliver a high quality experience overall. Vibe was very yuppie (which I am one!), but just seemed a bit too pretentious for what they are.
RSVP Friday 7:30pm, coming in from out of town, staying at the hotel. Normally we look for nice restaurants outside the hotel in the area when traveling, however, this had very good reviews on several websites. We were both looking forward to what appeared to be a house specialty: one of the "Dinner For Two" options, prominently displayed mid-menu. Had drinks, ordered nice bottle of wine, then it was time to order. "We just ran out of the red snapper "Dinner For Two" explained the waiter. Friday? 7:30pm RSVP? It was rather disappointing when we felt as though it was a house specialty, displayed as such on the menu and we had that in our minds when making the RSVP. Suggestion: if supply is limited, make it a daily special, off-menu, perhaps. Admittedly the food was otherwise good, as was the service. The next day I caught a glimpse of our bill (yeah, shouldn't I have looked before that? We travel and dine a lot, and I do not look as carefully as I should, I know). Yet it was a surprise to see that we were charged $4 for bread. Yes, we asked for it. No, we were not told it was at a cost. And no, it was surely not bread worthy of assessing an extra cost. We will be back at the hotel, not the restaurant. Tip: ask if they have what you want before ordering anything. And, don't order the bread, it's not really worth it IMO.
Returned here for lunch after a bit of an absence to find the food and service as excellent as ever. The menu is inviting and creative, and everything we ordered was delicious. The service was appropriately attentive and knowledgeable.
I look forward to dining here again soon. And recommend it highly
