Elephant Walk South End
Menu is eclectic - and delicious! Environment is lively, but you can carry on a conversation easily.
great food-just like I remember from 20 years ago-wish there was still one in Brookline.
Awesome! Sylvain amazing and also Mike at the bar. Delicious food, great vibe!
The food is just SO good! An awesome vegan options!
Awesome food - great fresh ingredients- you will not be disappointed
New Years Eve had special menu which was very good
The food was great and the service was excellent
A great old standby. Great food. No gimmicks.
This was our first visit in 3 years as we were visiting Boston for an overnight getaway.
The food was great as well as the service!
The music was all wrong for the room. David Bowie is not what I want to hear in a French/Cambodian restaurant. The food was good, but not too flavorful. We left saying it was good, but there is no need to return.
Food is spectacular! Ambiance is great! I love this place. Our primary server was terrific and helpful recommending dishes, that were all spot on. There was one other server person who poured water and delivered some dishes who seemed angry about being there and who almost literally flung our plates onto our table. This person brought our dessert and plunked it down so violently that it actually almost scared me. Anyone can have a bad day, but geeza louisa! The bad mood was so dramatically over the top that it was almost...funny. Anyway, go there for the amazing food and ambiance at reasonable prices. And you might even be treated to some unexpected "dinner theater"! :0
Not a good place for vegetarian options (contrary to what is written elsewhere) not a good value
From the moment we walked in, we knew we'd be glad we found this place. We were in Boston on business, and wanted something besides hotel food.
We were welcomed so warmly, and the staff made as feel like regulars.
The cocktails were amazing, the wine, too.
And the food....oh, the food. Every bite was amazing. We ordered The Amok Royal and the lamb curry specials. So perfect.
A member of our party has celiac and the restaurant was very accommodating.
I've already recommended this restaurant to my husband for his business trips to Boston.
I hope to go back soon.
One bad meal - I hope.
I've been dining at Elephant Walk for many years and my favorite dish is their Loc Lac. Last Saturday night, the meat was so dry, that I literally almost choked swallowing it. What a disappointment! I certainly hope that is a total exception and that it won't happen again. Also, whenever I make a reservation, I have requested a table towards the front/window and it has always been given. This time, our table was all the way at the back, near the bathroom door and to make matters worse, every time the front door opened, we got a real blast of cold air straight to our table. So the ambience was certainly not pleasant either. Please, please fix these issues!
The food was excellent--flavorful, fresh, and attractively presented. Portions were right-sized. Our server was attentive and efficient despite the full house.
Excellent restaurant! The food was delicious. The server was knowledgeable. I will return!
love the food here. they also have vegan and vegetarian options that are so good!
Delicious blends of French and Cambodian dishes. An appetizer with a salad and main entree was the perfect amount of food for a date night.
Lovely service and fantastic, interesting food. The tuna and avocado spring roll might have been the best app I’ve ever had!
One of my favorite spots in Boston—great gluten-free options with lots of great, nuanced flavors. It’s cozy and tasty and has a great cocktail list. My top choice for a special occasion meal.
A favorite for over 2 decades!
Very friendly staff, great food & service. Will return when in Boston !
A welcoming environment. Its nice to find a place that caters to vegans without needing special requests. Service was friendly, helpful, and prompt. The grilled tofu with squash and portabello dish was heavenly. Highly recommend.
Taking my College Daughter out for Dinner and we found this gem in Beantown. Great experience. Staff was very attentive and the meal was very memorable. If you are looking for a change from the typical New England Lobster or Great Italian in the North End head to The Elephant Walk for a delicious asian meal. Will definitely be back.
This was one of the weirdest dining experiences ever. I'm a LONG time patron of The elephant Walk. (Like nearly 20 years). I was taking 3 people out for lunch. After our order was taken, two young women came to our table saying that they were collecting $ to help cover their nephew's funeral. I figured they were part of the restaurant (why else would they be there?) so we gave them cash. About 5-7 minutes later, the mgr asked them to leave. Why did it take that long to notice this? Then when I went to pay, I had a gift certificate for The Elephant Walk. I gave it to our waiter (who was quite disinterested in serving us the entire time). About 5 minutes later the mgr came over and said, "We can't accept this. We're totally different institutions." So the logo is the same, the name is the same, and the menu is the same but you're totally different institutions. OK. Right. Last time ever going here.
Great restaurant for its interesting menu and quiet ambiance. The entrees were uneven this time, although they have not been in the past. Desserts were all excellent.
My spouse and I have been patrons of Elephant Walk for decades, and we were excited to visit the last remaining restaurant. In fact, we even have the cookbooks so this visit was a bit special in that we hoped to relive some of those memorable recipes from the past.
On the balance the food was good. We found the appetizers were spot on - namely the Rouleaux and the Soupe Phnom-Penh. The Avocat Kanthor (tuna & avocado) salad was a bit heavy on the fish soy. While certainly tasty, the main dishes we selected didn't taste Cambodian as we remembered. I had the Khar Saiko Kroeung (beef short ribs) and my spouse had the Trey Tuk Peng Pah (crispy catfish). Again, they were good but not standout. We'll go back again and try the other standby dishes like Poulet À La Citronnelle.
Desert was good with the Le Péché Au Chocolat, which is alway delicious.
We'll go back. Nice ambience and the service was really good. Just hoping for more of the Cambodian flavors in the mains next time.
Service was terrific. Food was fresh and tasty.
We used to love the original Elephant Walk on Beacon Street but then it disappeared. We were delighted to find out that it had actually moved to the South End.
It looks very different now, modern, millennial appearance not like the one I remember with elephants and Cambodian artifacts. We came for a late lunch and the restaurant was quite empty. The service was great. The server told us that most of the staff, including the chef had worked in the previous restaurant and that the menu was very similar. We truly enjoyed our meal though we ordered from the more limited lunch menu. The food is delicious. The desert, out of this world.
We will certainly go back.
Great food and good service in a low key environment.
THE DINE OUT MENU WAS QUITE NICE. THE FOOD WAS EXCEPTIONAL FOR THE PRICE. THE WINE LIST THOUGH MODERATE IN SIZE HAD SOME UNUSUAL OFFERINGS AT MODERATE PRICES.
The food taste good, but portions are small. Overall it is still a good experience for trying something new.
Loved the food. I used to go to Brooklyn spot and thanks to Dine Out Boston, I found you in the South End. I will be back!
Fabulous time having dinner here during Boston Restaurant week. Nice low key quiet ambience and very efficient service made for a relaxing evening. Dined from the special menu for Restaurant Week. Ample choices. Food for all 3 courses was very complementary mix of Asian sauces and spices with traditional ingredients. All 3 courses for the 3 of us who were dining were very good.....not one complaint as we tried each other's appetizers and desserts. All 3 had the short rib entree -- very good! Definitely want to go back to try other menu items.
Service, food, ambiance were all outstanding. Will definitely return.
We love it here! Always delicious, our food and waiter were fabulous. Our out of town guests found the food and menu unique as well as delectable.
Everything was delicous. Atmosphere was interesting and the service was spot on.
Love the Elephant Walk cookbook and food was as expected... perhaps the atmosphere deficient.
Great food and service was lovely. They accommodated for additional guests and had no issues with kids.
Great vegan options!! The citrus avocado soup is amazing !!
