Elephant & Castle - Toronto King St.
Decent pub food and fast service. Good if you have an event in the area and/or want to get in/out quickly.
Great place to relax and enjoy hearty food. The atmosphere is warm, modern and casual, with lots of TV screens for watching sporting events. The waitress was nice and helpful. I had the steak and mushroom deep dish pie, my husband the philly steak sandwich. Both were generous with the steak, and the pepper sauce was very flavourful.
We like to attend the theatre, and were disappointed with management policy of not allowing open table bookings after 5:30 pm, but in future I'll just phone the restaurant to get a seating around 6:30 pm, so we don't have to hang around Kings St. for an hour before the 8:00 pm theatre start.
I've been here many times, and the food is always good, and the servers are friendly and helpful. Great location and not too expensive.
Loved Elephant and Castle on a recent trip to Toronto. We ordered the poutine and fish and chips, and everything was excellent! Our service was outstanding, and the bathrooms were clean as well. Highly recommend!
Fast, friendly great selections, been a fav for decades!
Great staple close to the financial district. Usually on the quiet side, a go-to for me.
Great service and had our table ready for us when we walk in.
We found our food portions very small. Childrens grilled cheese was awful.
The server was excellent. Food tasted excellent.
Excellent evening all around. Our servicer was great and the food was sooo good. All of us enjoyed our meals. The yorkshir pudding was incredible. My first time there but it definitely will not be my last.
Great food and service. Would definitely recommend.
Perfect pre show meal even with a kid in tow.
Staff was friendly and funny. Food was great. Perfect for after a show or before a game.
This was my first time eating at Elephant and Castle and I would highly recommend it. Food was delicious and hot and quick which was good as we were going to the Princess of Wales to see The Lion King and couldn't be late. I loved the ambiance of the place and the service was great. Our hostess was very charming. My sisters both loved it as well.
As per our usual routine, we were going to the symphony and the proximity of E&C can't be beat.
Always good food, good value and good service. Glad we were able to make a reservation.
Quite Pleased with food ,service and prices We even got a bottle of wine half price on Thursday !
We were having dinner before the theatre and they knew this and served us slowly enough that we didn’t get out and have to wait at the theatre.
The food was quite good, varied menu and not overly expensive for such a downtown location.
All in all a very pleasant experience
Nice casual place to eat with loads of choice. Something for everyone.
Always a treat to meet a friend and enjoy dinner at the Elephant & Castle.
Great place to catch a bite if you're going to a concert or a show.
Mom’s Theater night with daughter & granddaughter
3 of the 4 orders were good. The side salads were excellent. My Reuben was not great .The corned beef was thick and rubbery and when you took a bite, half of the meat would pull out of the sandwich. The bottom of the sandwich was soggy and wet, I assume it was from the sauerkraut. I had to eat the sandwich with a fork and knife because of the meat issue. Also, my bread pudding would have been excellent except for the fact that parts of the outside were burnt and had a burnt taste. Normally I would have reported these issues to the waitress not sure why I didn't.
I hadn't been there for a year or since I had cancelled my subscription to National Geographic Live.
Still very much the same except the food value wasn't the same - less food & higher priced.
But, all in all, very convenient to Roy Thomson Hall.
However, next time I'll try the Thai place next door.
It's been a while since I went to E&C - I liked the atmosphere most of all - it was just a laid back summer Friday night before going across the street to Roy Thomson to see a show. Wait staff were lovely, especially Bill, our server. Nice food also.
I booked Elephant and Castle for Father’s Day lunch before going to see the Lion King. Only 2 people out of 5 ate their meals. My dad could barely eat his meal because it was over cooked, salty, and tasted almost stale. He felt bad to complain but we finally said something because it was that bad. In the end, our server comped his meal... didn’t really express a sincere apology. I was a bit embarrassed by this as it was my idea/ Father’s Day treat. I’ve been there many times before as I used to work across the street. This one time was so disappointing.
Brunch on Father’s Day before seeing the Lion King - great food, everyone was very pleased with their food, adults and kid alike! Great attentive service.
Great bar for the sports! Good choice of drinks and deals aswell as some good food!
Went for a working lunch with colleagues and it was a relaxed atmosphere where we were able to talk. Nice selection of traditional pub fare.
Wonderful service great food would go again for sure
We gathered for dinner and then went to the theatre. Perfect location for our needs. Service was fantastic. Food was as expected for pub food, good.
Great vibe, especially for the raptors game! We got seats right by the TV like I requested. The pasta and the bread pudding was amazing. I’d definitely recommend!
Great location and great food
I have always enjoyed E&C but on this occasion a few things fell apart.
My wife and I were seated at a table for two at a railing overlooking the bathroom and the door to the kitchen, even though the restaurant was fairly empty at the time of our reservation. . Our server was pleasant but not fully engaged.
All staff had a habit of coming from the kitchen, and then reaching over the railing to our table, rather than walking around and serving us from the dining area side of our table - which we found quite off putting. I would suggest E&C put up some frosted glass at this location to block some of the view and noise and prevent servers from shortcutting service to this table.
Every few minutes or so the kitchen manager would put her head out of the kitchen and bellow at the top of her lungs for “hands”
The food was decent.
Thanks for offering G-friendly options. Would love for you to have a dedicated fryer so that you could offer so many more choices.
Pre-concert dinner. We have been there before. It was less busy than usual and even though we were late we were seated promptly. I had calamari app and Caesar salad. My wife had chicken pot pie and we shared their delicious bread pudding.
All very good except calamari was quite salty, although very nicely fried.
Will definitely be back.
I gave it 5 stars for service because our waitress was working her butt off. They were VERY busy and service wasn't the fastest but she was doing it all ! Taking orders, busing tables, making fresh coffee. And all with a great attitude and a smile. She was outstanding and deserves recognition. I wish I remembered her name. Table 88 - June 4th - 600pm.
Service was slow and food was cold
Food is average but ambience and service was great.
Everything was good except the background music. All you could hear was the repetitious thump thump thump of the bass. There was no treble to be heard. Pretty annoying!
