The old Union Jack behind the bar may be faded, but spirits are soarin’. And why not? This is after all, a laugh-out-loud, slap-on-the-back, greet-you-with-a-roar, English-style pub. Where the traditions are as rich and warm as the Shephard’s Pie. And where the stories flow as freely from the tongue as the beer flows from the taps.
Since 1977, Elephant & Castle has rolled out its well-worn welcome mat to anyone and everyone looking for a cracking good time. Whether that means cheering on your beloved team or chatting up your mates or simply savoring fresh made eats with a bit of jolly old England folded in here and there, this is the pub where you get your brit on.

Great food and great service. Server was fantastic. We will be back.
Yes, the food was great, a bit pricey on the 6 oz Pinot Gri at $9.50, also the IPA beer at $8.00 small glass.
Great location for theatre goers. Prompt friendly service. Restaurant was unusually quiet that night due to COVID 19 I believe.
Great service and good food!! Would love to go back!!
Lunch before our Saturday matinee was perfect. Once we had told our server our plans, she made sure we had everything we needed from drinks to the cheque in a very timely way, but we never felt rushed. We hadn't been to the Elephant & Castle in a long time, and were delighted with it once again. Although quite busy, the sound level was quiet.
Great spot for a casual dinner before the theatre.
The food was delicious, and my guest and I were able to stay as long as we wanted. We were not rushed at all. It was my first time ever having an Irish Coffee, so I thought it was very strong. Our waitress brought me extra milk packets for it without a problem, I really appreciate this.
The server seemed to rush us to order drinks when we first sat down. She took our appetizer order (pretzel bites) then seemed to disappear for some time. She took our main course order and then was gone for a while too. When she cleared our plates she said for us to take our time. But when we were ready to go we still had to wait as she hadn’t brought us our bills yet. It was a long wait to get our bills. The pub wasn’t very busy so it couldn’t have been that she was busy with many other tables.
The pretzel bites and dip were great ... but we didn’t get enough pretzel bites for the amount of dip that was served. Had a spoon been provided with the dip we could’ve spooned some out onto our plates and maybe more would’ve been used (but we didn’t double dip).
The fish and chips was ok. The one end of the fish seemed slightly underdone (or had too much batter that didn’t properly get cooked) and the fries didn’t have any color or flavor to them.
Great food and excellent service. The reservation worked well on a busy night and we had a great experience.
All in all always a nice place to go before the concert or theatre. Busy, bustling crowd, good service and food.
Disappointing. French fries and chicken were cold, had to ask for Parmesan cheese on Caesar salad as none was originally included. Wine list needs updating as very poor Red selection. Server good.
convenient pub with a variety of food options. Nothing particularly special... but it's a welcome option vs. the high-priced places right in the core.
Food was tasty. SErvice friendly/fast. No complaints at all.
Great service - love the grilled brussels sprouts on special right now. Cozy atmosphere on a cold night.
2nd time there and enjoyed it again.
Love the location for proximity to Symphony and Theatre
It was a great spot for a quick pub lunch. It was a lot quieter than I expected
Was not too impressed by the food. Quantity and quality both disappoint.
It was pretty quiet and there were plenty of screens to watch the games
Cheese cake was dry. Roast beef in the Yorkshire pudding was mediocre.
Good food and good service. I’ve never been disappointed anytime I’ve eaten here.
Serves as acceptable for a preconcert visit when everywhere else around there is full.
Always delicious! Never disappointed
Good service, good portions of food. Good price!
We made a reservation for 5 on Valentines Day and, despite arriving unexpectedly early were seated right away. Service was fantastic although it was busy, and the food was delicious. We’ve eaten at E&C a few times before and it never disappoints. Great spot to grab a bite and a brew!
Staff very helpful
Assisted my husband with his walker on the stairs.
Casual dining, good menu selection, good value. Drink specials every night of the week. Bit loud pre-game
We had an Irish waiter..a very friendly young man..he did a wonderful job bring us our meal on time so we could make it to our show .
The server was very attentive and wanted to meet our requests. However the kitchen did not follow our needs due to food sensitivity. Our server was apologetic.
Great food, service & atmosphere - what more do you need?!
Great place. Good food, great service. Close to parking and entertainment venues (we were going to Roy Thomson). Will definitely go back.
For the price point, E & C is a great restaurant experience. AND they serve mixed drinks without any attitude. :)
Service was very attentive. Quality of food fell below expectations. Sweet potato fries were not hand cut and fresh (thin and tasted frozen). Chipotle Aioli accompany them was the consistency of salad dressing. Wait staff told me that was because it was a yogurt based sauce, but no mention was made of this on the menu. I ordered the fish tacos but I was unsure if they were fish; had the texture of chicken and no discernible taste. Asked my partner to confirm if it was fish or chicken; I thought that the order had been mixed up. Again not tasting light and flaky as I would expect fish tacos to taste.
The sandwich was very greasy to the point it was upsetting my stomach and fries were luke warm and best.
Friendly staff, quickly seated and our guests were brought to our table without issue. Good food, very reasonable prices. Everything you expect, and want, from a casual eating restaurant.
Nice first visit
I was disappointed with the chicken added to my salad. The actual chicken was very thin, dry and tepid.
The blue burger my fellow patron orddred was also tepid.
The restaurant was extremely busy and I can only assume the food was standing for a while before it was brought out but that’s an assumption on my part.
We didn’t complain because we were on a time constraint before attending the theatre.
I have been to the restaurant before and it was great. Sadly this time it did not live up to our expectations. Very disappointing.
Service was really good. Fast and attentive.
Portions are large - almost too large! Non of could even make it to dessert!
We very much enjoyed it. We took my parents here after seeing Come From Away. It was nice and close to the theatre and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the stuffed Yorkshire pudding and would definitely have it again in a heartbeat. I'll likely be dreaming about it until I get to have it again actually. I don't usually eat horseradish when given it, but the horseradish aioli was impossible to not love! I also really liked that it wasn't crazy loud. Some places make it really hard to have a conversation. It was busy and a nice pub feel, but very cozy and enjoyable.
We meet here every time we go to TSO or Mirvish. It is wonderful that now we can reserve.
Megan was a great server! We enjoyed our food, drinks and service! All good!
We were seated in an area of the pub that was brightly lit and had a lot of screens playing sports - it felt like a sports bar and we wanted something more romantic so we asked to be moved. The server was happy to accommodate and we were much happier with the new table. Very friendly and considerate (but a bit slow) service.
Great food. Server Tres was awesome. Try the pretzel bites appetizer.
