Elephant & Castle Prince Street opened in Lower Manhattan in ’73 across from St Vincent’s Hospital where George had worked as an oncologist since the 1950’s. After two decades of short lunch breaks where he could never get anything he wanted to eat, finally he retired to a life of eating everything he wanted to eat, in his own restaurant with a special name. His passion and obsession for quality was infectious and E&C became a New York classic within a few years. Doors opened in a very different and quiet Temple Bar in January 1989 and by Summer of that year the queues had already started for our fantastic food and spectacular atmosphere!
Outside the world has greatly changed, but inside our swinging doors we try to keep things just the way they were.

The service was a bit slow, but they were very busy. A little too noisy for my taste but I would go again as the food was very good. Drinks were delicious as well. The pasta with the lime chicken was cooked perfectly Al dente, chicken was moist and flavorful. Wings were crispy and nicely sauced. The burger was good but a bit dry.

Food was very good but 6.50euros was very steep for a plate of herb frites. Staff were lovely, atmosphere was very good. Very crowded though when people come in looking for a table

Servers and hosts were lovely but the food quality has really slipped over the years. The wings are very disappointing considering how good they used to be years ago, there are just so many better options around the area now. The salad was covered in processed grated cheese and overall tasted like a salad you'd get in a plastic container in applegreen.

This seems very strange?! The only 2 cheeses we grate and use in salads are vintage cheddar and DOP Parmigiano Reggiano?? Sorry for your disappointment

Overall Excellent. Great food and Atmosphere. However, not being seated until 27 mins after my booked time slot did not sit well. I understand it is Saturday night and trying to fit as many walk-ins as possible increases turnover but if we were 27 mins late would our table still be available or given away? Probably the latter. When things are not running as smoothly as they should be maybe a text or quick email to the booking party to tell them that their booked time might be overshot by x mins might be the way to go. It will save the guests having to wait outside. But as stated at the start , great meal and a good time was had by all ?(once seated!!)

My 3rd time at elephant and castle, very disappointed, the other ones sandyford and the mason were outstanding, this one wasn't. 4 people out dinning, each of us only got a half plate of chips and 1 extremly raw burger and two burgers partially raw, by the time my extra sauce arrived I was nearly finished my chips! The raw burger was taken from our bill so I thank then for that, but I wouldn't return to this one.

We went there for my daughter’s birthday, mainly for the famous chicken wings. The service was excellent and friendly. However the wings were overcooked - way too crunchy and dry. Disappointing really as it’s our family’s birthday and special occasion restaurant. Didn’t complain or send the food back as I had 3 hungry teenagers, but it was not what I’ve come to expect from the food.

Food incredible as always, staff so attentive and friendly despite being an extremly busy nighr. Have been going to eat here for 20 years but this was one of the best. Would highly recommend this for meat eaters and vegetarians like myself.

Waiters are good but food was bland. The warm dishes should be called luke warm dishes and need seasoning. Really the main courses were strange and starters were greasy and dry, buffalo sauce will not disguise reheated food. On top of that you are charged premium prices for fast food vibes. Nice wine though. Would not recommend.
