Elephant & Castle - Glenview
Since 1977, Elephant & Castle has rolled out its well-worn welcome mat to anyone and everyone looking for a cracking good time. Whether that means cheering on your beloved team or chatting up your mates or simply savoring fresh made eats with a bit of jolly old England folded in here and there, this is the pub where you get your brit on.
Friday night. Games on and we walk into a song Michael rowed the boat ashore. The music was dull. Not lively for Friday night
The food was just ok in our opinion and our server seemed constantly frantic yet very inattentive considering it wasn't crazy busy. Ordered a second round of drinks when our food came and we were almost done eating by the time the drinks arrived. Probably will not return. There are many, better options in the area.
Nice place, good food, great service - but the choice of music sucked and it was loud. I asked who chose the sound...server told me the Chef. He/she should stick to cooking.
Hey Chuck, thanks for dropping a line. Sorry about our music choice Saturday evening, tried a new station and I don't believe it was anyone's favorite. We'll be back to our normal upbeat British Rock classics from here on out. I can promise you our chef was working hard in the kitchen & didn't have anything to do with the music but had everything to do with your good food. Thank you for your kind words & we hope to see you back soon. -Krysta Stier, E&C Glenview Managing Partner
It's hard to find good "fish-n-chips" in the north suburbs. So head over to Elephant and Castle...it's worth the trip. And the price is reasonable. Not a lot of atmosphere, but the food is good. I go back often and take friends who also miss the fish and chips British meal.
Have eaten here several times, both lunch and dinner, and have had consistently good experience. Service is always friendly and quick. Tried fish& chips, Shepard's pie, tacos, salad and sandwiches with no misses.
The service was excellent. The two main courses we ordered were very good. They were very receptive to allowing us to make changes to the items ordered. The timing of the service was very good. We would recommend the restaurant and will go back.
Nice feature that you could get a salad with a sandwich with additional charge. The salmon club sandwich was good, but a little breadth. My steak sandwich was very little meat, mostly mushy hoagie bun. Service was mediocre and at times no attention. The place was extremely empty for a Friday night. My food order and the service showed probably why when other restaurants in the area extremely busy. Will give it one more try because my wife’s meal was decent!
We were seated outside where the weather was beautiful and live music was being performed around the corner from where we were sitting. We were first time customers and the waiter Chris was friendly and helpful in suggesting a dinner entree and alerting us to Thursday evening drink specials and happy hour discounted appetizers. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and plan to go back again.
Great food, excellent service. Both Bella and Krystal were the sparkles that topped a wonderful meal and a special evening.
The food quality and value was poor.
It was my first time at Elephant & Castle in Glenview and I really enjoyed it! The food was delicious!
Excellent service and great food. It looked like those pictures you see of food in a magazine! I got the French dip, grandma got the fish and chips, my husband got the butter chicken, a little something for everyone!
Our server was extremely pleasant and helpful. Our party of four ordered four different entres and the very good food arrived quickly. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Very disappointed in the food quality. Been to the downtown location and enjoyed it.
The Glenview restaurant is not the same quality as the one in Chicago.
The food was so delicious the first time I dined at Elephant and Castle a month ago that I recommended E&C for my reunion with friends this week. I loved the shepherd’s pie on both visits. My friends all loved their meals too. We also enjoyed the bread pudding! I like the music, too. It carries my friends and I back to our high school days. Thank you for a lovely evening! Sharon
Excellent customer service and food is consistent
We had reservations for 1 we came early no problem getting seated. The roses for Mother’s Day was a real supervise. Was second visit in five days, Really friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Fab food.
Very fast service, almost too fast. Quirky but interesting interpretation of English pub fare. Indian food was very spicy. Side salads were generous with a lot of good toppings and dressings were original. Will come back.
We where pleasantly surprise that all four of us enjoyed our meals, being that it’s a restaurant that’s mostly pub style food.
My husband enjoyed the butter chicken which is an Indian style dish, fish tacos were tasty, and our friends enjoyed the lamb burger and a salad with shrimp.
Wait staff was friendly and efficient we would definitely go back again
Great variety of food on menu. Food was delicious and service was great! We had a reservation and got seated right away. We did not wait long for food. Would definitely go back!

Excellent experience from start to finish for our first time there! Our server, Hope was great! She recommended some items off the menu and were just as she described. Food came out quickly and tasted great. I cannot wait to dine with you guys again soon!
Thank you for the great feedback Dan. Hope is one of our rockstars, I'm sure she will appreciate the kind words. We look forward to seeing you soon! Cheers, Krysta Stier EC Glenview Managing Partner
Nice addition to the Glen. Good food, good service and family-friendly.
Food was just adequate. My dish was supposed to be fish tacos but I could not taste anything like fish. Service was very good.
Delicious British pub grub and attentive service
Good menu selection. Food was good value
Great food, great service, great location with free parking; hope this one sticks around!!
Overall we enjoyed our meal. The kids menu is a great value. I enjoyed my steak and mushroom pie. Unfortunately my choice of beer was out of stock. I hope the restaurant does well. Though it was quite empty and the atmosphere was a bit too low key. We will try it again as we’ve enjoyed their Chicago location for brunch.
Interesting restaurant with over-the-top (in a good way!) British pub decor.
Ate Valentine's dinner here with my fiancee, and received free pretzel bites appetizer for making a V-Day reservation through OpenTable.
Service was friendly & efficient. Food was very good. We'll definitely go back.
Clean, friendly, family friendly.. Waitress attentive & prompt. Good service..
Everything was great. I hope they address the headlight beams of cars parking directly outside with some window treatments or something.
Poor food, server was very forgetful. limited menu.
What a fun place! A takeoff of a British pub with pub food, imported beer and ale on tap, a bunch of flat screens, fast service (? too fast) and great prices. In addition, there are plenty of choices for diners who don’t want English food. My Yorkshire pudding was great, and the ale and onion soup incredibly excellent!! My wife had a special pistachio crusted salmon and Caesar salad which were both terrific. There are so many other things on the menu I look forward to next time!
Went with my mom on Saturday night at 7:15, plenty of open seats. Service was great as was my food. My mom, age 90, complained that 3 of her mussels were not opened. Server could not have been nicer as he offered her a free dessert, for 3 unopened mussels. Way to go.
Food was outstanding. Loved the ambiance. Had dinner with friends we tried 3 different appetizers which were all tasty. All of our dinner entrees were also very good. Definitely recommend and will be back.
An eclectic English pub menu with dishes from other cultures as well. Great friendly service with a menu that will appeal to all ages. My grandchildren were happy with the kids menu and the tastiness of their food as were the adults in my party. Casual, comfortable. We definitely will return again and again. Try it.
