The old Union Jack behind the bar may be faded, but spirits are soarin’. And why not? This is after all, a laugh-out-loud, slap-on-the-back, greet-you-with-a-roar, English-style pub. Where the traditions are as rich and warm as the Shephard’s Pie. And where the stories flow as freely from the tongue as the beer flows from the taps.

Since 1977, Elephant & Castle has rolled out its well-worn welcome mat to anyone and everyone looking for a cracking good time. Whether that means cheering on your beloved team or chatting up your mates or simply savoring fresh made eats with a bit of jolly old England folded in here and there, this is the pub where you get your brit on.

Interesting restaurant with over-the-top (in a good way!) British pub decor.

Ate Valentine's dinner here with my fiancee, and received free pretzel bites appetizer for making a V-Day reservation through OpenTable.

Service was friendly & efficient. Food was very good. We'll definitely go back.

Everything was great. I hope they address the headlight beams of cars parking directly outside with some window treatments or something.

What a fun place! A takeoff of a British pub with pub food, imported beer and ale on tap, a bunch of flat screens, fast service (? too fast) and great prices. In addition, there are plenty of choices for diners who don’t want English food. My Yorkshire pudding was great, and the ale and onion soup incredibly excellent!! My wife had a special pistachio crusted salmon and Caesar salad which were both terrific. There are so many other things on the menu I look forward to next time!

Went with my mom on Saturday night at 7:15, plenty of open seats. Service was great as was my food. My mom, age 90, complained that 3 of her mussels were not opened. Server could not have been nicer as he offered her a free dessert, for 3 unopened mussels. Way to go.

An eclectic English pub menu with dishes from other cultures as well. Great friendly service with a menu that will appeal to all ages. My grandchildren were happy with the kids menu and the tastiness of their food as were the adults in my party. Casual, comfortable. We definitely will return again and again. Try it.

Great place! It is definitely our go to these days. Third time we've gone there since it's opened and it's yet to disappoint. Food is very good and the service was excellent. Lots of drink options too. Kid friendly and yet the type of place I would also go for adult beverages with friends. Love the ambiance.

Third trip here in last month. It's getting to be our "go to" restaurant. Not fancy pretentious food. No gimmicks. Just solid pub fare. Husband had the fish and chips : crispy outside moist inside, I seldom eat fish but nearly took half of his it was so tasty.. I had stuffed Yorkshire pudding: roast beef with gravy filling a Yorkshire pudding along side of great mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked green beans. Served w side of horseradish sauce. Great selection of English beers and local beers.
Lots of TVs around for sport fans.

Very confused with server.
She short our change of $1.19 & when asked she said they round up the bill because the restaurant doesn’t have change.
Ridiculous!
Not going back ..
Someone needs to address this policy & change it immediately

Always wanted to stop at Elephant and Castle so when they opened up in Glenview decided to try that one out!

The place is really nice and the atmosphere is very friendly and casual. The service was great and we sat at the bar so the bartenders were super friendly and very helpful. Food was good I had the butter chicken which the flavor was good but you barely got any chicken. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger which he said was good and the burger with grilled very nicely but they were quite thin so he would have gotten the double burger next time. We also had the fries with gravy and cheese curds and those were flavorful. With the amount of chicken in the Butter Chicken I don't think it was worth it at all, maybe 1/3 of a breast at most. The beers were good but overall everything was a bit salty for us. Glad we went but probably not returning anytime soon.

Supposed be an English Pub I suppose, hard to do with one wall of windows and modern light fixtures. Food is good and hearty. There are a few Indian influenced English entrees. Good selection of English beers. Not a huge selection which is fine, I don't personally care for beer lists longer than the food menu. Waitstaff pleasant and knowledgeable about the food. it has a better feel to it than when it was State and Main.

Last minute dinner out with my husband on a Friday night at 7:00.
We figured most places would be booked at 7:00, but got right in at Elephant and Castle because it is new in our area.

The mussels were excellent, and then we shared a salad... nothing special... and New England Clam chowder soup, very good.
It is your typical sports bar, like Yard House, but a bit more intimate and not so loud. I think the menu needs a few more options, like better/ bigger salads and a turkey burger.

Service was really good and friendly!
I will go back.

As a homesick Brit, I was excited to try The Elephant and Castle, but could have cried into my already soggy Yorkshire pudding! Don’t get me wrong- I want this place to succeed, but if you’re going to market yourselves as a British restaurant, get the basics right! Traditional Shepherd’s pie is made with lamb, not beef and lamb, and is NEVER topped with garlic mash! Whilst we’re on the subject of mash- leaving the peel on may be trendy and full of vitamins, but it’s just not the done thing for our rickets-ridden nation!
A Yorkshire pudding should rise to ridiculous heights and be crispy and full of air - a soggy bottom is acceptable- but the overall texture is light and crispy, not spongy and dense... unless you’re my mother-in-law! Filling aforementioned Yorkshire pudding with catering beef will only add insult to injury! Where was the rare roast beef? And the horseradish sauce? You’ve guessed it- mixed into the mash!
Putting ‘London’ in the title (London steak sandwich) does not make it British- and chucking a splash of HP sauce in the gravy just won’t cut the mustard with us Brits! Redemption came in the form of Bread and Butter pudding... BUT, you called it bread pudding on the menu which is a completely different thing. It was, however, delicious, but the menu promised custard and once again, we were left disappointed- no custard and worse still... squirty cream from a can!! My friend had the fish and chips and it’s just as well I’m about to run out of characters because without mushy peas and a random wedge of lemon on the side it just ain’t cricket!
Come on chaps! You can do this, we want you to get this right. Pictures of a telephone box and Mick Jagger on the wall won’t distract your British customers from these mediocre attempts at British classics. That said, us Brits are far too polite to complain so yes, it was lovely thank you and we’ll definitely be back again! Best of British!

Happy to see Elephant and Castle at the Glen. The food was good, the service was pretty good (a bit uneven) HOWEVER there are so many HUGE TV SCREENS -- that is obnoxious !! Several of the people with me mentioned it immediately as a REAL NEGATIVE. There were not too many people there the evening we visited & we were sure that virtually no one was looking at them. Turn them OFF ... or better yet, take them down. People can stay home to watch sports.

Thought we'd try out the new E & C for lunch and were very pleased. Nice decor and the menu was varied and offered some unexpected items. They offer bottled and draft beer ... both the routine and some local microbrews. A number of wines are available by the glass. We had the shepherd's pie and really enjoyed it. We'll be back

Casual cozy spot with good variety on menu. Good service, Shepherds Pie was excellent and came with sizeabl salad. Truffle parmesan chips were excellent. Good drink menu; Pimm’s cocktail was refreshing. Mussels were eh okay. Husband had the Lamb Burger which he enjoyed and had a bit of curry flavor. Would definitely return for the Shepherds Pie! Screens in every direction so we could follow the World Series.

We hope this place thrives. Great beer list. We need more English pubs. Menu looks great but eh food disappointed. We sent two meals back, and we never so that. The other one we kept, Braised lamb tacos, but the meat tasted more like liver. Great English beer list and once they make the opening week adjustments in the kitchen, it will hopefully be here to last.
