Very small portions for not tasty and expensive food
Fabulous food, fantastic drinks and excellent service. Can’t ask for more. We picked the “surprise me” tasting menu and it was packed with delicious items that offer an imaginative journey all around the world. Real compliments to the chef!
Hearing positive comments about Element I decided to take my mom who was in town from Los Angeles visiting for the weekend. We shared the two poultry dishes and each had the kale salad along with a Zin. The food was delicious and wine a perfect accompaniment. Our server Josh was lovely and paced without being intrusive. Highly recommend!
This was amazing!!! We did the chef’s choice and have 5 amazing courses. We will be back for sure! Such an amazing meal and service.
Our dinner was just "ok." They have seasonal menus and to be honest, there wasn't much on the menu that sounded appetizing to us. But you can't go wrong with a good burger right? Well, it was just ok. Instead of a traditional burger, it was served with avocado and bacon/onion jam. The tastes were too much and we both eventually scraped it extras off. The portions were small and the cost was high. Value was low. We had an open table gift card, but agreed that we wouldn't be back.
Perfect. Awesome bartender remembers everything from prior visits. Cannot give a more substantial endorsement.
I do not often complain or feel dissatisfied about my fine dining in St Louis however this experience was embarrassingly awful. My parents came in from Illinois to celebrate my birthday with myself and my boyfriend and your restaurant came highly recommended. The only good thing I can say about my experience at Element was that the food tasted and looked delicious. Our service was of the worst service I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. We ordered our large plates as we ordered our appetizers and our meal took 40 minutes to come to the table. Everyone at my table sat with at least two empty glasses (including water and iced tea), and the waiter didn't check on our meals until they were nearly finished. Worst of all, when I complained to the manager he acted as if he could have cared less. He did offer me a complimentary dessert which I was not interested in because my service was so awful but he never once even apologized. When I turn down the complimentary dessert he walked away from our table without a word as if I was being rude. The manager that I spoke with acted as if I was making up my experience and did not at all take my concerns to heart. I was embarrassed that my parents came from out of town to eat dinner at this restaurant and the service was so terrible. Compliments to the chef for the absolutely delicious tasting food but that aside, I could not recommend one thing about element to my friends are family.
Our waitress - Jack - could not have made the experience any more enjoyable! She was so knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was clean, contemporary, dimly lit and very very pleasant.
Loved the food and the staff was very accommodating.
Food was excellent and presentation was beautiful.
Staff was very friendly and service was exceptional.
Went to the Valentine's Day special 5 course prix fixe menu. Food was excellent and unique.
Went for an early Valentine's date. The food was great, the staff was attentive. Afterward we went to the lounge upstairs where we sat at the bar and enjoyed the view and cocktails
We booked a table for five based on a recommendation from a friend and were hoping for a good meal. By the end of the evening, we were enthralled by the experience. The service the staff provided was extraordinary. From providing information about the menu to offering samples of wines for suggested meals, they contributed highly to the overall experience. The food was a wonderful meld of flavors that complimented each dish. The starters set the tone and the main dishes raised the bar. Be sure to try the buns - by far our favorite shareable item. The next day everyone in our party was evangelizing the experience with our peers. It's that good. Can't wait to go back. Ask for Justin and Jack.
We had a 7 pm reservation and the kitchen was out of half of the entries. Also the special was not longer available. The server was very rushed and made us feel rushed. After dinner we went up to the bar for a drink and no bartender was in sight room. We waited for 5 mins and no one showed up.
This was the second time I tried this restaurant and I will not go back again. When I told friends I was going they were supersized as well, stated the restaurant had not changed for the better.
As usual, the service and food were absolutely great. I do love Element. I have NEVER had a bad meal. And the gentlemen who serve us are absolutely always kind, respectful and very, very kind.
We had a very enjoyable meal here with some dear friends. We all tried the Chef's Choice Tasting menu (everyone at the table has to agree to it). At $50/person I thought it was very affordable as there were 9-10 dishes ranging from appetizers through desserts. This isn't normally something I would do as I am not a super-adventurous eater. While I enjoy trying new things, I prefer to choose what I'm going to eat vs. be surprised. However, I was pleasantly suprised. Each dish was delicious and after all the plates came out, we were all stuffed. (I hate paying for a pricey meal and still leaving hungry!) The dishes were mostly served family style, which for our party of 6 worked just fine. Some of the dishes we enjoyed were: lentil arrancini, curried fingerling potatoes, kale salad with squash, butternut squash ravioli, seared and sous vide beef tenderloin with broccolini, sturgeon, quail, and an apple tarte tatin (there were more, but I can't remember them all!) I would definitely go back.
We had a wonderful meal with some delicious appetizers. We were the last table to be served and the staff was attentive and did not rush us at all. Food was fantastic! I had the gnocchi and my husband had the short ribs which were quite tasty! It was our second visit and we will definitely be back.
Although we were the last seating of the night, we were greeted warmly and never rushed. Justin, our server, was very helpful and super nice. It was our first time there and he was patient while we made our selections. We ate vegetarian with the exception of the sturgeon and everything was amazing! My friend and I had cocktails and we really enjoyed those, as well. We will be back!
The New Year’s Eve menu food tasted awful and was very expensive. It tasted like the chef had a passion for fancy cooking but no training on what actually tastes good together. The cold scallops served as a second course were especially noteworthy as that was the point I lost my appetite and I love scallops. There was no warning in the menu that they would be served cold so I was pretty surprised by the unusual preparation. I am not a picky eater so this type of review is out of the norm for me and I do not provide it lightly. I usually do not provide criticism or praise unless something is exceptionally bad or good and my dinner at the element was exceptionally bad.
Always love coming here. The food is AMAZING and the open kitchen is such a treat
Great food amd drink. Our whole group enjoyed it.
We visited Element for our 10 year anniversary. It's a small place that focuses on each diner's experience and delivers well crafted, seasonal dishes. I'm glad we made reservations, only three other tables were seated the entire time we were there, however there were a few unused tables. The dining are is clean and modern and prefect for conversation. The space is opening to the kitchen which allows you to watch, smell and hear the food cooking. Our waiter took time to make recommendations and answer all our questions. The food was delicious and we left feeling satisfied and whatever eager to go back again.
Wonderful creative menu. It should be in the St. Louis list of top 10 restaurants.
What a wonderful extraordinary dining experience in your private room overlooking the downtown St. Louis lit sky. Gathering together and getting to enjoy our conversation without the music entering our room was a real treat. Our server was amaxing amd explained each entree for us and helped us so much. Although the room didn't warm up for an hour, the menu selections we shared made up for any discomfort. All were delicious and perfectly prepared to create memorable tastes. From the flatbread to the sturgeon and steak all were extremely tasty and captivated our attention making our dining experience conversations all about your flavorful choices and combinations. We savored every bite. We were sad to have to leave to catch our broadway show and miss your dessert menu. We will be back!
Element is always a great choice. Very talented staff in the kitchen and the lounge. Open kitchen is very cool.
The short ribs were tender and tasty, but I really miss the short ribs at the dearly departed Moxie. Of course, if you love Kalamata olives and feta cheese, you would love those at Element. We will go again in warmer weather to experience the patio. We went to the upstairs bar after dinner and had a drink. In all, it was a nice experience, if a little pricey.
I have said before MANY times that Element is my favorite restaurant. I love the service ... The attention the servers provide. Oh and the food is ALWAYS delicious! The other wonder is that I can walk to Element ... So that is over the top!
We were there for our anniversary and we had a very good time. The overall experience was great. I had the porkchop and my wife had the sturgeon. Both were done to perfection. The atmosphere was nice and cozy and we felt as though we could spend time together while there.
Second visit for us, won’t be a third. Service good, meal marginal at best. Ordered a Stella (brewed about two miles from the restaurant) and early on a Friday night they were out. Salad was the best part of the meal. My burger was charred to a crisp outside but a bit bloody on the inside. Not a great combination.
You can do much better in StL, so pick a different option
Our server was incredible. It was my birthday and he was able to make Brandy Alexander's for the table even though they weren't on the menu. Dinner was equally amazing, try the octopus and steamed buns. You will not be disappointed!!
We choose Chefs Selection for 6 of us. Waitress explained each serving well. Enjoyed creative dishes and small portions with great variety. Will visit again in future.
Good good, nice place. I'd go back.
Excellent meal and service. Small menu but great food!
our dining experience was perfect-our server(Rachel) was outstanding-she really explained the menu and suggested great things-we ordered everything she suggested and loved it-the food was excellent-the bar before was alot of fun
Our first time at Element and we really enjoyed it. The food was so wonderful, I felt like the ingredients were of high quality. Our server was really great too. He asked about items in the kitchen for us(there was a radish looking item that I wanted to know what it was and where to get some!!....turns out it was a watermelon radish...never heard of such a thing!) After dinner we went upstairs to the lounge- where all the cool kids hang out! We had a overall really nice time.
The only issue was there was a table beside us of 4 women who were drinking and were a little too loud for me. They sort of hindered my dining experience a little. I was glad when they finally left!
We will definitely be back, but we will request a booth next time!!
Great food and great views. Let our server decide what we should eat and wasn’t steered wrong. And only $50 per person for 5 courses. Left full and happy.
As usual, it was wonderful! Service was great....food was incredible ...and it was very quiet. All in all it was a wonderful evening.
I've dined at Element three times and each was a great experience. The food and the service are terrific and unpretentious. This is my favorite restaurant.
Four of us went to dinner at Element Friday night. (We are a 50ish crowd) It was our first experience at this restaurant.
The bar and restaurant are on two different floors which keeps the noise level very comfortable in the restaurant for talking. We had a drink in the lounge before dinner and if the weather had been cooperating their outdoor rooftop seating would have been a spectacular way to start out the evening. The house wine choices were good and reasonably priced. They also have a wine list for the more discriminating palate. (The corking fee is $20...if they would eliminate that fee or lower that price I believe they would see more business. We keep quite a bit of good wine in our house and always enjoy bringing our own bottle :) )
The decor is rustic modern with a cozy feel. We were seated right next to the open kitchen area where you can watch the chefs at work. I usually enjoy watching but sometimes the smells from the kitchen at work were a little much..but not too much to spoil the evening. I would just choose to sit a little further away from the production on our next visit.
We all chose the Halibut and it was delish! The portion was just the right size for me.
The dessert we shared was the gooey butter pumpkin cake!!!!!!!!
I can't quite get it off my mind. Soooooo good.
We will definitely return for another lovely evening at Element especially in the spring so that we can give their magical rooftop lounge area a try.
The Element provided the perfect setting for my business dinner. Great food and excellent service. Atmosphere was just right for conversations.
