ELEM is a new restaurant and cocktail lab on Main + 5th.

Guests can expect to indulge in Top Chef Canada alum Mayekar’s bold cooking, featuring creative flavour-packed dishes that highlight the unique spices from cuisines around the world with local ingredients, alongside Winnie Sun’s inventive, element-inspired and sustainability-driven cocktails.

ELEM’s food menu is an exploration of flavours and spices from all corners of the world, including Bangkok, California, Spain, Mexico, Italy, and Mumbai – all inspired by Mayekar’s extensive travels and Indian heritage. There will also be a big focus on local BC-grown ingredients.

The 2,946 square foot, 76-seat space was designed by Vancouver-based Marko Simcich Architect and features three dining spaces and an open window into the kitchen to see the chefs at work.

Join us for our first of many Wine dinners at Elem. Chef Vish got inspired by Emerich Schönleber's Rieslings and created a menu around the different styles of Riesling produced from the Winery. The Winery farms 16ha of Riesling in the Nahe Valley with an editional 2.5h ha of other white grapes. We are very excited to have Marvin with us to add some insights about each wine while you enjoy them. We will be able to hold your table for 15min, after your reservation will be handled as no-show. This restaurant has a great a space and ambience. Each dish is beautifully presented and shows the chef has a lot of creativity. We enjoyed each dish that we had, and our server was excellent. Food and drinks are on the pricier side but I think each guest will definitely enjoy the experience.

I was really looking forward to trying Elem. Unfortunately, when we arrived, it took over five minutes for anyone to evenacknowledge us—not even a quick "we’ll be right with you." Once seated, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and a good vibe. We ordered the burrata, crab toast, and gnocchi. While the dishes were flavorful, they lacked the textural variety you’d expect from a place aiming for a high-end dining experience. All in all, it was an okay experience, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to wait for a reservation.

Wonderful meal - we chose “let us cook for you” for the two of us. Our server Sofia was awesome and chef Vish came out to welcome us for dinner. We’ll be back.

This was my first experience at Elem and my friend and I were very happy with all aspects of the dining experience. The food was scrumptious and provided a wide variety of flavors and tastes. I only gave a 4 for the food because one dish, the octopus, although delicious, it was not tender. We have eaten many octopus dishes in the past and this one was chewy. Otherwise everything divine. Wonderful wine list with varietals we hadn’t tried before. The Sommelier was very helpful in choosing something we would enjoy. We will definitely go back and recommend to friends.

Everything was great! Just one minor thing: with that number of servers in the dining room, I would hope at least one is dedicated to the front desk/FOH. When I walked in, it took about 10–15 minutes for someone to notice us and seat us. Aside from that everything was great!

Top 10 best meal we’ve ever had! Incredible flavours, textures and absolutely visually stunning! We did the Chef’s choice. Excellent food!! Expensive cocktails and wines. Overall, loved, loved, loved it!!

The burrata cheese was the best I have ever had. Unbelievable. The lamb is always a winner. The special pork shoulder pasta was also a hit. The cocktails were delicious, in great glassware, and the ice cubes are made for them! Great service from the second we walked in. One of the servers recognized us from a visit 2 months ago. They change their menu often which is great.

The staff at ELEM were incredibly friendly and they were consistent with ensuring that we were having a good experience. The service was absolutely top notch. It was my first time experiencing having the table wiped down in between courses and the attention to detail is next level. The dinnerware was stunning and matches the aesthetic and atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurants concept and design is so unique and beautiful. Not only did the menu contain different elements, but so did the interior design of the restaurant. Every square foot of this restaurant was just perfectly executed. The food was phenomenal and the rotational menu concept was explained so well by Hassib. Hassib made the experience fun and all the staff were so nice and went as far as to take a bunch of photos me and my friends. The washroom even played a motivational speech and was very different from other restrooms. I had an amazing time at ELEM and will be telling all my friends and family about it. I be coming back without a doubt.
