Always friendly and accommodating neighborhood fine dining. Ordered the salad with kefalogavira cheese, Branzino and horta this time and each was prepared to perfection I really, really, really hope this restaurant continues to be a place that is quiet enough to have a conversation so I can keep coming here to meet friends and have delicious food!
Always a good spot for dinner.
The food is exceptional, service is courteous and constant. The place is attractive. A rocking table was quickly shimmed on request. My only issue is the cost, much of which, as is normal in NYC, is due to drinks. The wine mark up is about 400-500%. But Elea is a festive place and the quality justifies a bit of a splurge. We enjoyed an excellent octopus salad appetizer, two different marvelous entrees and two deserts; every thing was excellent except the baklava - which was also good but not eye opening.
Brunch menu is already limited compared to lunch and dinner. We arrived at 130pm and they were out of almost half of everything we ordered. Very disappointed. Will definitely avoid brunch at Elea in the future. Also my entree egg/beef hash was devoid of any beef. Staff were great but kitchen has issues.
We come here very often as it’s a neighborhood favorite. This time for our anniversary and were treated to a glass of champagne each to celebrate. Management goes above and beyond, food is amazing and given the constant crowds, others think so too. A true gem and great for the UWS!
It was perfect
Elea has a beautiful physical space on two levels. Attentive service staff. A great bar for dinning and helpful bar tenders. Also, the food is very good Greekish fare. Go there and have fun.
Creative well-prepared food with a focus on good health. So glad to see yogurt with honey and walnuts for dessert.
I love this place.
Elea is our go-to neighborhood place and it is consistently delicious. The fish is fresh, drinks great and service is very attentive. Always a great mediterranean meal.
What an authentic and fun experience dining at Elea! We felt like we were at a taverna in Greece! We are Greeks who know Greek food, and we were impressed with every single morsel. The mezedes were perfect ...simply melted in our mouths. The octopus so tender and seasoned perfectly..the zucchini chips lightly fried and presented beautifully..the meatballs were so soft and delicious...and the assortment of dips was amazing (each one so authentic, creamy and tasty). The entrees were exceptional..the lavraki was a big portion cooked simply to perfection. The lamb chops and other fish entrees were equally terrific and of the highest quality. The restaurant was loud and lively...a great place for a family with kids or a friends’ get together. We are delighted we discovered this neighborhood gem and can’t wait to return. A wonderful experience from start to end !
The food and service were excellent. I was a bit concerned by the noise level comments of other reviewers, but although the downstairs was full, the noise level was reasonable and we had no trouble hearing each other. My only suggestion would be that turning up the light even a little bit would be welcome. Our table was quite dark.
So delicious, even better than Kyma( hard to believe, I know). Although the zucchini chips were a bit salty, they were still scrumptious. The octopus was tender and Greek meatballs amazing.... Everything we ordered was exceptionally delicious. Despite the spotty service, we enjoyed our dining experience very much and will return.
Game changer for the UWS
I am leery to try new restaurants on the UWS because most are so disappointing. Our experience at Elea’s was not. The food was impressive— I had the short ribs, which were tender and unbelievably tasty; my husband had mussels, which he enjoyed (and the accompanying fries were fabulous). He also loved the sashimi appetizer. Service was efficient and friendly. There is not a shred of pretense to this place; there is an air of sophistication, both in service and decor, that is sorely lacking in most of the neighborhood restaurants. I was impressed with everything.
Server did. It offer us the delish bread and oil that all tables had. She was very patient as I dropped a glass.
We enjoyed our meal at Elea. Very good service. Octo, beet salad, Black Sea bass special were all winners. Happy to return!
What more can I possibly say to the best new thing that is happened on the upper West side! This is a gem of a restaurant that not only is the food and the vibe amazing but the manager goes out of his way to make sure that his customers are well taken care of!. Just so well run and so delicious
Hard to talk. We were downstairs but the food and service were excellent!
A bit too loud (not “energetic”)
We had an amazing experience at Elea. Part of the reason our experience was outstanding was our server - George. He was phenomenal!! From a service standpoint- everything was on point and my friends and I are a difficult bunch as we facilitate workshops on customer service and hospitality. Food was delicious. We loved everything about it and will definitely be back again soon. Would 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ recommend. Try and get seated in George’s section!
Well prepared food and interesting but limited menu. We had 7:30 show so didn’t have a chance to really savor the dining experience but will definitely return.
I am a frequent guest at Elea. The food is excellent! The service is excellent! The ambiance is excellent! Being Greek myself, I know Greek food when I have it! I recommend Elea to everyone!
Their lunch prefix is an outstanding bargain! They cooked my salmon medium rare as asked and the Horiatiki salad was a full-size salad! Very fresh food and just lovely. My only comment was that the walnut cake was a little too sweet. Will definitely be back...
Terrific UWS restaurant serving great Greek fare.
Loved the chicken, the oysters are wonderful and they make a great martini.
Always good food, service and atmosphere.
Great food, nice ambiance. One of the best nicer restaurants on the UWS
Elea really does a nice job -- and the crowds it draws proves it...The food was good and service very attentive. Anything they can do for you they are happy to do! Management checks in to make sure your dining experience is going smoothly. We had nice entrees of fish....restrained from ordering the delish fried zucchini/eggplant...it is just too good.
Bar or table, it's an enjoyable experience.
Theodore was wonderful and all the food we ordered was delicious. This was our second visit and you can be sure we will be back!
Great food nicely presented and attentive service.
We ordered many appetizers-the five dip sampler, cauliflower fritters, salmon crude, Elea chips, Brussels sprout salad, and the lavroki main- all to share among 4 people. I would say the quality was good but not imaginative. I have had as good Greek food in my little corner of New Jersey for a LOT less money. We were seated in the basement, which was not so pretty. There were only 3 single stall bathrooms for the whole restaurant so consequently there was a long line right in front of a main entry/exit point for the servers, who seemed clearly annoyed that we were in their way. Alcohol was typical NYC prices, which is ridiculous. On the whole I was a little disappointed, mostly because of all the great reviews.
Overall a good experience but quite overpriced For a neighborhood restaurant
First time there....excellent food and very attentive service. However....it is very pricey and extremely loud, even for a weekday.
Food excellent. Service fine. Noise overwhelming. Hard to have a conversation
Had the prix fixe lunch. Tried the assorted dips and the grilled octopus (well worth the $5 supplement) to start. Then the salmon and the mussels for our main dishes. All were delicious. Included dessert which was also excellent. Service was attentive despite them being slammed due to the holiday. Highly recommend. Bring a large appetite!
At last a beautiful and scrumptious place for special lunches that are consistently well prepared and thoughtfully served. Oh that grilled octopus and yoghurt with honey and walnuts. Delicious salads too.
Love this restaurant! Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere and the service, attentive and friendly. So happy to have a great new restaurant on the UWS.
Very pleasant and extremely courteous! Prices seem a bit high for value. Charge for everything. I had mussels. Very bland. Branzino was excellent. Small plate called tower of fried zucchini also quite tasty. But long waits encourage more wine.
Lovely atmosphere and some very good dining choices. Would not return though.
Six guest and I went for brunch at Elea. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived but within 20 min things got busy. We enjoyed the hummus appetizer. Slightly burned pita bread was perfect with the 3 dips. My guests got the Scottish dish, eggs Benedict, the salmon kefte, the hash and eggs and I got the lamb burgers. Most every food dish was good except those who ordered the kefte wished they had ordered something else. I asked for my burger to be rare but came well done and dry. The fries were crammed into a small bowl, were not hot and were oily. Not toast came with the hash as should have. I needed to ask for salt and pepper and catsup 3 times before they came. They only had one guy budding al the tables. He was working hard but our empty dishes sat in front of us for too long a time.
