We went on a Sunday night so the noise level was fine. The food was really good, very pleasant service, and the place is very pretty, upscale. We will be coming back.
It was expensive, not very interesting menu, and the waitstaff was ok. The water people were nice but the wait staff seemed annoyed, at what I don’t know.
Good addition to a neighborhood in need of upscale dining.
Everyone was so nice. Our waiter made the evening special because he was so considerate and helpful
This is the fourth time in 6 days I had dinner at Elea.
Love the food. Fresh. Great ingredients. Unfussy. Beautifully presented.
Lots of things I want to eat from appetizers to salad and entrees.
Good vibe and fun.
At last a decent restaurant on the Uooer West Side!
They make a mean lychee martini as well
Very good food and service
BUT WAITERS WEARING TOOOO MUCH COLOGNE. VERY UNPLEASANT /
Our waiter blew our order and was rude.
We enjoyed our experience at Elea. The food was delicious but the service really lacking and seemed all over the place. We chalk it up to the fact that they just recently opened and are working the kinks out. We would still return and look forward to trying more items on the menu!
The noise level on the lower floor is simply intolerable.
We enjoyed our food, but chose to go elsewhere for dessert because the noise level was insane.
We love and go just above every (date night) Saturday.
We were initially seated adjacent to a VERY noisy table and the manager and waitress were very accommodating and moved us to a quieter section. The waiter in this section however made countless errors. He mixed up drink orders, forgot to put through an entree order so one person in our party waited almost 20 minutes for her meal, duplicated a coffee order and simply forgot about another drinks order. Other than that, it was a good experience. Loved the food, decor and setup.
From beginning to end, a delightful and delicious time! The decor is smart chic, the whether you stay at the bar upstairs or go down to the main dining room. The service is rather ambitious, they really want you to have a good time. Finally and most importantly, the food is delicious and abundant. We unfortunately had no room for dessert!
Next time one less fabulous appetizer so we could try two desserts!
Wonderful -- attention to every little thing from the front door hostesses to the servers to the unobtrusive
bus boys who just keep filling the water glasses to the food itself. The selections are varied and delicious, creatively presented. What the UWS needed
The portions were small, and a tad overcooked. If we had not waited 15 minutes after appetizer dishes were cleared to receive our main course, we might have sent food back. Clearly there was an issue in the kitchen. Our server was lovely and attentive (when food was available), and we were sent a dessert, presumably by way of apology for the long wait between courses.
Excellent evening. Perfect service and eye for details. Even the managers kept an eye on tables swooping in to collect an empty glass or unwanted straw. Impressive. Our meals were superb. Cooked to our exact specifications. Served timely. Everything fresh and delicious. Be aware this is a bi-level restaurant and reservations are a must.
Food and service were excellent.
The noise level downstairs was very very loud.
In future, would request dining upstairs
Marvelous across the board - from their hostesses to the wait staff including busboys, they left no stone unturned. Suggestions from our waitress were right on - we shared appetizers, actually Small Plates which were more than enough for the two of us. Ideally, a bigger group would be fun so that the diners get to taste all the wonderful combinations. The ambiance is lovely and feels very high end but prices are reasonable
It’s trendy, noisy overpriced and the food is so so.
Excellent service and delicious food! I just wish they could imrpove the acoustics downstairs to reduce the noise level in that dining room.
Wonderful food, lovely service. Most kind host!!
A very decent option in the neighborhood. Glad to see a quality restaurant uptown in the UWS. Was fairly disappointed with the service. Nothing terrible, just an extremely inexperience and immature host staff and waitstaff. For a nice restaurant by a seasoned team, I expected a more seamless dining experience.
My lamb chops were delicious! We arrived at 6:30 and got a quiet table in a corner downstairs. Most of the time, the noise level was fine but by the time we left, it had gotten quite loud. Perhaps they turned up the volume on the music? I prefer my restaurants music-free.
Excellent! Our entrees were great (sea bream for me, baked pasta with mushrooms for her), but also the appetizers were divine, especially the tuna tartare and the eggplant and zucchini “chips.” Also, ask the sommelier for help with the Greek wines if you need it—but worth it because they’re tasty!
Quality and ambiance good. Felt as though we were being rushed to order. Very pricy.
The place is great, the food is fantastic and tasty.
The staff is friendly and professional but is almost like they have too many running around. It was my Wedding anniversary and the restaurant was aware of it and everyone kept congratulating us.
We were greeted by two hostess who were friendly and went to check on our table. We were stand in there for 5 minutes in the mIddle of the way.
Our table was set downstairs and once we were seated we’ve got complimentary glass of champagne and that was another brief 5-7 minutes wait for the waiter to come and talk to us.The waiter was friendly and polite but there was no suggestions of anything and as the place was noisy and our table squeezed in the corner we could barely hear him talking. Also, the staff serving the next table kept bumping on my wife’s due to the narrow space.
I’ve ordered the wine, based on the sommelier explanation but they didn’t had the one and I was suggested another one which was also good.
We order a tasting of three spreads to start. The bread and the wine ran out and after that little interaction with the waiter we didn’t see him again for good 15 minutes.I wanted more wine and bread.
Finally, another waiter came in, he apologized, served more wine which was on ice but further away from us.( I didn’t know) and asked if we need more pitta bread which I’ve said yes.
Another 15 minutes passed,no bread, and empty glasses again but this time my wife served us the wine.
The food came in and so as the pitta bread but the spreads were over so no need for bread. My lamb chops arrived but I had to wait again for the knife. Both plates were great. After eating I went on bathroom and mentioned to this person that I was surprised with the quality of the service due to so many staff running around. He was clearly concerned with my comments and after that we were assisted many times and got deserts but was just towards the very end and because I’ve said so.Overall it was a great experience and I would go back.
I'm not sure how long this restaurant has been open. The food is delicious but the service was abysmal. Hoping that it's relatively new to explain why the staff seemed totally overwhelmed in handling things.
I recommend Elea to the NYC community! The ambience was light and breezy. The host well organized. Our wait person was charming and attentive. The hummus was so delicious I wanted to order another plate! The grilled shrimp melted in my mouth!
A delicious meal- we’ve been back several times! Great find and highly recommend Elea
Best new restaurant on the UWS
Superb service and ambiance. The food was flavorful, yet simple. The waiter was a gem of a guy with the patience of Jobe. Terrific overall experience. I’d love to return any time. Bon appetit NY.
Spectacular and interesting food and beautiful decor. Even though it was crowded, tables were spaced well so the noise level was not intrusive. We highly recommend their small dishes. We cannot wait to return to Elea.
My first visit after hearing positive reviews from patrons of their other restaurants. We ate downstairs which was very loud and too dark. I like to see my food. Our waiter Andrew was very helpful and friendly. The lamb chops with French fries were delicious. I do think for $34 for 3 baby lamb chops they could add a veggie too. The short ribs were great but the orzo that came with it was a bit bland. I will go back and will try and sit upstairs. Very nice addition to the neighborhood.
The first time we visited was, in retrospect, a cautionary experience. They had run out of draft beer and after hyping a special, brought the special when we had ordered we ordered something else. We agreed to eat the special as the waiter seems stressed and to be fair, he did offer to comp us a glass of wine.
The second time we visited, we (Party of 5) were seated downstairs at a table for 4. We had to ask to move. The restuarant was 2/3 full. From the time we were finally seated to getting our drink orders took 35 mins and a further 30 mins to get the starter. It took another 30 mins after that to get the main courses. The patrons all around us were experiencing the same problems and all looked pretty unhappy.
Whether the wait staff were inept or the bar and kitchen were letting them down I cannot say: no explanations or apologies were forthcoming.
There seemed to be two floor supervisors who were utterly ineffective and roamed at large : but that’s all they did, roamed.
The reception staff who were friendly on our first visit were preoccupied and indifferent during our second visit.
The bus staff were excellent, keeping the water glasses topped up and clearing the dishes.
The food is overpriced and “meh”.
Sadly this place is not living up to its hype.
We’ll not go back and I wouldn’t t recommend it.
Excellent! Extraordinary food! Great service. A little loud.
The greek salad was great with tomatoes so fresh as to die for.
Waitress was exceptionally helpful and friendly.
(The only drawback was that I like to talk to Greek speaking waiters and there were none. )
Noise level was unbearable.!!! Could not hear waiter or others at my table.
The evening started with the waiter knocking over a glass of water on us. They could have been classy and offered one of our cocktails as an apology, but did not.
My fish “filet” was full of bones. Couldn’t eat it. The waiter took it back but they did not remove it from the bill.
Potatoes were so salty I couldn’t eat them.
Will definitely not return!
Ambience and service was really good. They truly care about their clientele s experience. I had gone there a month ago and was really impressed. I told all my friends to go there. This time however ,comparatively, was very disappointing. Two out of the four entree dishes were below par. Lamb chops were over cooked ,expensive and ridiculous portion for the price. I sent them back and the replacement was almost insulting. They were even more well done and less than a half an inch thick. My friends scallops special was cold. The other two entrees of fish were very good. Not sure I will go back but do think it’s worth a try. Maybe it was just an off night for lamb chops.
Fantastic meal. Great atmosphere! Superb service. Will back for sure!!!
