El Vez-Ft. Lauderdale
Made the mistake of going to this restaurant right as the Florida Governor lifted restrictions. Restaurant is no longer worried about customer safety as I'm sure we'll see from most restaurants moving forward. Also menu was limited to just a few options due to Covid which made little sense as they'd clearly removed all of their safety restrictions. We sat for a while before getting any help and decided to leave after receiving poor service.
Excellent staff and service
The guacamole and tacos were great. The tuna appetizer had bad, spoiled tuna and was inedible. Also, at the moment the menu is extremely limited.
El Vez is open again!
My son and I couldn't wait and it happened that we were at the Hilton and the server told us that El Vez had been open for about two weeks.
Well, we were so excited that we did not even come home, we just went to The W from the Hilton and waiting till 3pm when they opened.
The food was not as great as before but the manager explained that items were coming back gradually, ( like THE NACHOS, which are fabulous) so we'll be back in about two weeks, maybe one to see what else they offer.
Waiting for the full menu and the active vibe to return post-covid. Items on limited menu were great but very limited
Good was good, selection was limited due to COVID aftermath
I don’t write reviews but I would like to write about my experience don’t want someone else to go through the same .
Only 4 course in the menu to order food really bad really expensive for 3 tacos in a plate with nothing else .very disappointed , no my first time at restaurant been few time that’s why I went back but they did some changes in the menu which me as a customer was no happy . I feel I was ordering food from a taco truck no many options in the menu.
Customer service good , manager was very nice my only problem was the menu and the food we paid 240 for 5 plates of tacos which each included 3 tacos soft and meat on top no cheese no lettuce no rice or beans only the meat on top of 3 small tacos and the a appetizer chips and guacamole was very bad .
Limited menu was not that great, but happy they have recently reopened and drinks, service and of course the view is great. One of our favorite places and will go back and can't wait until full menu is available again.
Well, normally I would give them high remarks. But, they opened up with a limited, and I mean limited menu. Can you image... no rice and beans as a side? The steak tacos were quite yummy. The guac was good, but needed more seasoning. The margarita was watery and tasteless. The only saving grace was the ambiance of the ocean view and the service. While we wanted to support them, it was a disappointment. I look forward to their full menu, takeout offerings and less water in their alcoholic drinks.
Would have been nice to know that there was only a limited menu
Pricey for what you get, which is fine but not anything different or special. We spent a lot for an okay meal.
Wonderful food and environment! Defiantly would come again!
My food was awful. It took forever to get a server and a drink. Initially they sent the wrong food and after I sent it back what came was horrendously spicy (not described as spicy in description). This was the only time I haven’t had a good experience here but tonight was truly bad
Good food, service a bit slow.
they say timing is everything. Well, we picked an off night to visit El Vez. They were short staffed and Claudia was covering for someone which meant we didn't talk to anyone for 10 minutes. No water, no menus—nada! She showed up obviously overwhelmed and it showed. Otherwise she was nice. No worries tho, Mike the manager happened to walk by and I mentioned our current situation and he was more than happy to help. Mike is an example of who belongs in the hospitality business...he was quick to respond and from that point on our dinner was trouble free. The food was brought out relatively quickly along with a very nice appetizer that was on-the-house. I should mention everyting we ordered was very good. As well as the drinks. I'd go again, but the host/hostess should be more transparent and let their guests know about what we should expect. Even if that means lack of help and longer wait times for the essentials.
Went for happy hour on a balmy evening. Sat outside and could not have been better. Half price margarita and great prices on lots of other dishes. View is lovely.
We enjoyed this Restaurant so much we ate here 2 nights on a row..... Great service and fantastic food and Drink options....... Glad we gave it a try and we will for sure be back next time we are in Ft Lauderdale
Consistent food and service at this waterfront spot in the W Hotel. Not cheap, but worth it. Try to get an outside seat if weather permits.
Excellent food, but service was indifferent at best.
Restaurant is open to the ocean side which,on a very windy night made eating out front or even sitting at the bar uncomfortable. The bartender did little to make us feel welcome
We requested and received a table inside. Our server clearly wanted to be doing anything except working at El Vez.
Unfortunate,in that the salsas; nachos and steak were outstanding.
Food was good but wasn’t a lot for what it costs. Menu was also very limited compared to Philadelphia location. Probably wouldn’t return.
Very good chicken tacos. Guacamole good too.
Bad service. Ok food. No buzzers. A sad waitress. All around meh.
Food was very good. Service was great. Beautiful views.
All of the staff could care less we were dining there. No urgency and everyone was rude. Luckily the food was tasty or we would have left before dinner concluded
It was just ok. Very small menu so hope you want tacos or enchiladas. Just wasn’t our thing.
Everything was great except they had all of the outside doors open and it was way to windy and cold for that. Everyone at the table was freezing!
Excellent breakfast and dinner! Every dish came out perfect. They accommodated every substitution request and every egg came out cooked just right! Unimposing but attentive service and a really fun atmosphere! Looking forward to coming back.
Beautiful experience. Wonderful waiter. Incredible view. Delicious food.
Food was great, though small portions for the price. Location was also very good. Service was subpar. Waited over half an hour before anyone came to our table to even ask about drink orders. Someone else brought our food out so we didn’t even see our waitress until we were finished with our meal and waiting to pay.
Good place. Good food. Near the beach for a great price.
We have been going back for the same meal since they opened. Tonight the food was okay at best. If tonight were the first time we went, we would have never gone back or raved to our friends about the place. Maybe an off night for them...
Exceptional service and great food. I was in Ft Lauderdale for 4 days and I HAD to eat there each day.....addicting!!
This is our 4th visit to El Vez and the food is awesome. We enjoyed ourselves but we experienced slow service once we were seated. After 5 min a server came by and gave us water and said she would send someone to get our drinks. Needless to say, that was another long wait. Finally we were offered drinks and then we ordered food. Not a big deal and the food and drinks were worth the wait. Always a great meal and we enjoy the ambiance.......
My first visit I had the nacho mama and chopped salad. Both were outstanding. The place has a cool vibe with indoor and outdoor dining. The classic margarita was delicious. I returned for breakfast and had the best Huevos Rancheros. I highly recommend this place!
We waited for about 40 mins upon arrival despite having a reservation. Food was ok, nothing special and service subpar. If you are in for a great dinner, there are probably better options around. Now if you are there merely for drinks and chatting with a larger group where food/service is not that relevant, perhaps you would enjoy it more. The ambiance is nice and vibrant.
This is a very popular restaurant in the W Hotel, but we absolutely love it! Margaritas are great and the Macho Nachos are very unique and terrific. Ceviche is fresh and delightful, guacamole and chips (could upgrade the chips) as well as their 3-way salsas are wonderful. Since it is noisy, we like to sit in a both, even if there are 4 of us, so we can have a real conversation. Valet parking is super easy and the guys are really nice.
We are locals, at least in the winter, and this is one of our favorite restaurants. It offers a unique menu and is worth trying.
The Macho Nachos with pulled pork were arrainged on a flat pan like a pizza and were just outstanding. Best thing we had was the carnitas taos, the second best was the black bean encheladias. Over all we had a great time with good food.
Good was outstanding and service was spot on
Great location on the water, good service. Bar service just fair, seemed at times annoyed to get drinks.
A great location but a big disappointment in terms of food, service and ambiance.
