El Vez-Ft. Lauderdale
A great location but a big disappointment in terms of food, service and ambiance.
We have visited several times and always feel the service could be so much better! The food is good though.
We dined at El Vez on NYE. Very disappointed. Very limited menu and felt very rushed. Philadelphia’s El Vez is much better!
New Years eve
Great food in a great location!
Maybe a bit too loud?
Restaurant did not Honor our reservation and asked us to wait for an hour as they were "busy" and we were with two small kids. They finally gave us a table after 20 mins of arguing with us
Great food! Brunch menu excellent
The food was creative and the location right across from the beach is great
Waiter was rude, should try and keep his comments when rude to himself, thought he was funny but was rather offensive
Poor service as waitress did not bring the items requested. Never brought my beer. Charged extra 3.00 for tiny cups of shredded cheese for steak for two. The steak wasn’t skirt steak and was terrible. No sides with the meal and again charged extra for one side. Finally the waitress brought us the wrong check. Won’t go back.
Waitstaff were competent and friendly. However kitchen first sent out side dishes followed 10 minutes later by 3 main dishes and another 15’ for last dish. Food and service is nowhere near as good as philly restaurant. Starr should get new management and kitchen staff.
Delicious food ! Everything was fabulous we will definitely be back!
Overpriced and food is just okay. Disagree that this is rated higher than 4. Disappointed as a result because we could have gone elsewhere as this was our last night in FLL and I (over) trusted . Guacamole lacked seasoning. Nachos tasted odd. Salsa was smoked flavor. Tacos were decent, but toppings lacked imagination and variety of options. My wifes bean enchiladas, on the other hand, were very good. Margaritas were in a small glass with a ton of ice; though paucity of liquid decent tasting, the drink overpriced at $13 a pop. We ate in the restaurant, but the bar area looked pretty nice. I would consider having a beer at the bar in future (though, I don't live here and that likely wont happen) but would not return for a meal. Mind you, cost was >$110 for two adults ordering a drink each, 1 extra beer, 1 app, 2 entrees and 1 kiddie meal for toddler. If that seems normal to you, then have at it hoss. If the food was amazing and costed that much, then I probably wouldn't have said anything; but, it didnt
The Guacamole was tasteless and ridiculously small. The salsa and sauce for the enchiladas had a smokey, stale smell and taste. We frequent most of Stephen Starr’s other restaurants in Philadelphia which are wonderful. We were extremely disappointed at this El Vez location and would not recommend!! If you are in Philadelphia definitely check out El Vez, but leave the Fort Lauderdale location off your list!!!
Great place to eat. Fajitas were fabulous. Waiter was the best. Would definitely visit again when we are back in Ft. Lauderdale.
Our food was excellent. However, the service left something to be desired - food came EXTREMELY fast, as though the restaurant wanted us out of there, and when my wife complained that someone had spilled food and water on the floor next to our table, the waiter seemed genuinely displeased to have to do something about it. For what we paid, I expect better service.
Uninspiring menu. Inattentive service. Food was cold. Unimpressed.
The kids meal was a joke. We had to order more food. It was pathetic actually.
Not even close to how good el vez is in Philadelphia. The food was bland, our guacamole was frozen... actually frozen. It’s amazing in philly, would never go again in Fort Lauderdale.
We live in Fort Lauderdale and had been wanting to try El Vez for months. Since it was my birthday, we decided to celebrate there with our four-year old son. We ordered a bottle of wine before our food was delivered. Ten minutes later, the waitress informed us that they were out of the bottle we ordered. She recommended another bottle in the same price range and we accepted. She said she needed to get wine glasses and would be right back. Twenty minutes later, after we were completely done eating, a young man returned with the wine and glasses. We told him we no longer wanted the wine. Although the manager had been talking to customers, including at the tables on both sides of us, he never came to our table to ask about our experience or apologize for the bad service. It’s not reasonable nor is it good service to make customers wait over thirty minutes for a bottle of wine.
Food was good, portion size was not worth it
Food is delicious and very fast service! Highly recommend the hibiscus margarita and steak tacos!
It would be nice when people book a brunch
Excellent service. Delicious tacos
Have eaten here several times and always enjoyed the overall dining experience. The food is consistently good.
This time it felt different, just a bit rushed, each course was served very quickly, in fact the whole meal from start to finish was over in about 1 hour.. So, for a birthday dinner it just didn’t feel special.
I know I’m being picky now, but I wish this trend for a lot of facial hair would come to an end, especially in the restaurant industry, as the servers generally looked unkempt. It seems like a competition to see who could grow the biggest beard. As I say I know I’m being picky here....
Great place to spend time with friends or family. Food is delicious and the staffs were nice. The ocean view is a plus.
Great location. Not very authentic food. Waited too long for service on a not so busy night. Have had much better Mexican food off trucks in Denver.
Birthday drinks and apps were very much enjoyed. The nachos were some of the best in the area
i was very pleased to finally come here and now wished i had come earlier and had more meals there already
We started off a little rocky but with help from the Manager they definitely exceeded my expectations. This was my third time there and had no issues the first couple of time. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to Fort Lauderdale
Mike did a good job of taking care of our table.
Wow, we loved our meal at El Vez! Started off with amazing nachos that could have been a whole meal. Not your average bar nachos...these were super special with really delicious authentic cheese and just the right amount of toppings. Super crisp chips that were so delicious. We also shared a black bean enchilada dinner...the sauce was super smoky and complex...really spectacular. Highly recommend for special & authentic Mexican. Yum.
Great food and service
Great Mexican food, reasonably priced, in the W hotel so great view and outdoor seating. We shared the Guad and chips, and they were great. Marguerita’s are AMAZING!!! And we shared the skirt steak tacos for 2 and they didn’t disappoint. Vinny was our waiter and he was great.
We will definitely go back next time we stay at the W.
Our waitress did not give us a chance to view the menu upon sitting down. We sat down for 39 seconds and she asked us if we were ready to order. Felt very rushed.
The restaurante was so cold we ask to Lower the AC but not luck we ate and leave in 30 min to bad
Server was upset she had to work. The food was mediocre at best. My wife got sick later that night from her chicken tacos. I was charged 2.50 for a side of jalopenos and 1.50 for a table spoon of sour cream. The drinks were weak
Our hostess walked us to our table to find only dirty tables. She said she would be right back she had to wipe down a table. After five min of just standing awkwardly between tables I turn around to see her talking to a coworker. She finally got back over to the table and wiped it down. No apology or anything, very rude. Our server was not very attentive at all either.
The food and cocktails are delicious. The view is stunning.
