El Vez-Ft. Lauderdale
Great Mexican food, reasonably priced, in the W hotel so great view and outdoor seating. We shared the Guad and chips, and they were great. Marguerita’s are AMAZING!!! And we shared the skirt steak tacos for 2 and they didn’t disappoint. Vinny was our waiter and he was great.
We will definitely go back next time we stay at the W.
Our waitress did not give us a chance to view the menu upon sitting down. We sat down for 39 seconds and she asked us if we were ready to order. Felt very rushed.
The restaurante was so cold we ask to Lower the AC but not luck we ate and leave in 30 min to bad
Server was upset she had to work. The food was mediocre at best. My wife got sick later that night from her chicken tacos. I was charged 2.50 for a side of jalopenos and 1.50 for a table spoon of sour cream. The drinks were weak
Our hostess walked us to our table to find only dirty tables. She said she would be right back she had to wipe down a table. After five min of just standing awkwardly between tables I turn around to see her talking to a coworker. She finally got back over to the table and wiped it down. No apology or anything, very rude. Our server was not very attentive at all either.
The food and cocktails are delicious. The view is stunning.
Service was terrible. Food was just average, nothing crazy. Would have expected our macho nacho’s to have more meat on them for being pork nachos. Tortilla soup was basic, I think chilli’s is better. Snapper tacos were actually the best thing. And the steak tacos for 2 were just ok. And the churros took forever but they were decent. Our table was beautiful and the vibe of the restaurant is cool. But service was pits and food just average
Was my second time going to El Vez. The first time was great. Food and drinks were all good. This time, my snapper tacos were really good and my husband’s carnitas tacos were good but the other meals weren’t. My daughter ordered the mahi tacos and I couldn’t believe how small and plain they were. They came out as two tiny rolled tacos with a little fish. It was less than an appetizer portion. My other daughter got the chicken quesadilla, which was basically a tortilla with a little cheese and a couple pieces of chicken. Definitely disappointed this time.
Great ambience and cocktails though. Would go back for drinks but probably not dinner.
Terrible wine selection and mediocre food
Another Ft lauderdale tourist restaurant that caters to tourists That pretty much only care about sitting on the beach and seeing the ocean. Not much concerned about great food which there is not a lot in the city. Makes me sad because I grew up here
Amazing! This place always has great food, great drinks, and a great vibe.
Nice place. Good food great service.
Found the ambiance to be nice, easy walk from our hotel too. Food was just okay, enchiladas were fine but tacos were very ordinary. Coming from Chicago, was not impressed
Food was delicious. Service was great. Very relaxing atmosphere. Staff was very good from the hostess to service all the around.
I get the same thing every time, and it never disappoints.
We order traditional guacamole and chips, frozen blood orange margaritas, vegan Kale Caesar salad for me and the whole snapper for my husband. Always great service and delicious food!!
Helpful Hint: Be sure to give your valet ticket to the server and pay for valet with your dining check. It will be $7.50 versus $15.00 if you just have the ticket validated by the hostess and pay the valet!!
The food is amazing. Very authentic food. The tacos are fantastic.
Leaving the restaurant at 9pm or so, I slipped and fell. The floor is polished cement and it was so slippery. Ruined the experience for the night. Manager was very nice and helpful and most apologetic. I'm sure he had nothing to do with the selection of that floor. I would go back, just wearing shoes with rubber bottom and not high heels.
Every one was so friendly and hospitable from the moment I walked in.
It was very thoughtful of the manager Maurice to stop by our table, generously let us sample some donuts!! Yummy . It’s smart when Resturant’s throw in a little special domestic taste.. we agreed we be back for more !!
Great Food and atmosphere. The outdoor bar area has a beautiful view.
Overall I really enjoyed my visit but it started with confusion and delayed service but our server quickly made it right and went out of his way to serve us. Hostess didn't know where to seat us and while others figured it out. Hostess also didn't inform our waiter he had a table so we waited 15 minutes before he approached eventhough we asked for a service. 😳. He made up quickly and did a good job. The food is higher priced as you are sitting on the Ocean and cost are high. All entrees are ala carte so chips, salsa, sides are extra. Only drink specials are margaritas out of a fountain and still expensive but again it's at the W hotel and Ocean view. Someone had to pay for Paradise. Will defiantly try it again. Thanks
Great drinks, excellent happy hour specials till 7 pm! Great view of ocean from outside seating. Excellent snapper tacos. House made red salsa is fantastic!
Waitress was great . Food was amazing. Tequila menu was super extensive . Menu was limited but food was on point ... too loud but I would go back
Food was good, service was so so once seated, our party had reservations, had to wait 15min to be seated and were then sat in the middle of a birthday party the only table NOT at the birthday party. The hostess, and mangament seemed off to not notice this or address our slight discomfort with the situation.
Server was very attentive but not in an annoying way. Food was served quick and hot. My table especially appreciated the presentation of the nachos; not piled high but spread out over a platter, each chip had a proper distribution of the toppings :-)
We had an absolutely spectacular dinner tonight at El Vez in Ft. Lauderdale. Every detail was perfection. Our waiter Vincent was awesome...every suggestion he made was delicious. From the guacamole to the snapper tacos, to the churros with spicy chocolate sauce we were literally moaning with delight at every bite we took! We can’t wait to eat here again the next time we’re in the Ft. Lauderdale area! If I could give this restaurant a thousand stars I would!!!
Hostess didn’t give a good impression
Food is way overpriced
We were disappointed with the taste of the food but we are from California and were expecting authentic Mexican food( which was probably unrealistic). The view and ambiance was great however.
Great food! Beautiful setting along the beach. The only criticism I have was the food wasn’t hot when it arrived at the table.
Our server, Siri, was very good, attentive and eager to help us.
Went to El Vez to celebrate a friend's birthday-- the food was great, but the service and lack of attention was so bad that it put a damper on the evening and left a very bad taste about the restaurant. To make matters worse, our server was training another woman who told us it was her first night--all I can say is that I surely hope that the trainee does NOT follow in the server's footsteps or use her as her model server!!! The server was rude to my friends who arrived earlier than me-- they had sat at the table and asked our server about the drinks-- the server, rather than be helpful or engaging said something along the lines of "they are all right there in the drink menu". I had to ask her and the food runner 4 times for a straw, and finally got one after I asked another server who just happened to be passing nearby. At the end of our meal, I asked for a "doggie" bag and she only packed a part of the remaining food on the plate and did not include the guac, tortillas etc that were there. The last straw was that I asked our server if they validated the valet parking tickets and she said that I could prepay it for $7.50 I said ok and handed her a $20--when she returned she handed me $12 and walked away. Now it isn't that I care about the .50, but really this woman had a lot of nerve-- she was rude, insulting and petty!
Other than that, the food was delish-- the chips and salsa is amazing, fresh and homemade. The guac is also great- chunky with just the right amount of heat. We shared the make your own tacos and it was plentiful, well cooked with lots of flavor! The margaritas are tasty and there is a good variety of flavors and preparations (frozen, regular, straight up).
It was awesome! Really great food, service was excellent (Chris was amazing!). And absolutely amazing evening again!! And my little dog felt super comfy!
Expensive (not surprising, given the location @ the W hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach) and not worth the price. The food was mediocre -- we're from LA and we know and love good, upscale Mexican food -- the selection wasn't great -- and the only frozen margarita on offer was a too-sour blood orange "specialty." It wasn't bad, but certainly not worth the price ($130 for 2, including one "happy hour" drink, one wine, and tip, plus $7.50 + tip for parking).
Had a fantastic evening! Will definitely be back. Food, service and atmosphere were fantastic.
It was the best time at a Mexican restaurant. Great atmosphere delicious food. Loved it
Then went upstairs where DJ was jamming and had drinks and danced.
Always great. It is pricey but food is outstanding and doesn't disappoint
From the beginning my party and I stepped to the hostess stand till the time we left the service and staff were excellent! The food was delicious!
The service was awesome and the food was delicious. I absolutely love the blood orange margarita!
We look forward to dining at El Vez for breakfast on every trip to the W FLL. The crab and avocado Benedict is a must try. Service is wonderful with especially good care from Lena and Pablo. We love the sun and the views and the coffee too!
The food was excellent. My husband said they were the best nachos he ever had (and that is saying something). They had a great kids menu as well. My only issue is that my kids got lemonade and it was 4 dollars a lemonade. That may have been okay but then they got refills and we were charged. We assumed they were free refills because we weren’t told otherwise. So we were in for about 30 bucks for lemonade only. That part really stunk. Other than that, the restaurant was great.
Fun set up at outdoor tables with great view of the beach. We had a group of 14 for an early dinner so we split two tables. We probably sampled the entire menu and everyone was happy with their dishes from salsa/pico/guac, the share two shrimp fajita tacos in the volcano dish to the queso fundido dip, seafood enchiladas, tostados de mariscos ceviche (AMAZING!), nachos, blood orange and classic marg's... everything was DELICIOUS...super flavorful. Our servers were great! Very attentive and able to handle a large group of people shifting tables and sampling each other's treats. The interior space was cool too...very eclectic decor. Would definitely go back!
Our server, Mike, was fantastic! Offered some great menu suggestions...
