El Torito - Tustin
Using the freshest ingredients and boldest flavors, our menu offers a range of quintessential Mexican food, along with culinary innovations we know guests will love. We are known best for our tableside preparations, including our made-to-order guacamole and flame-grilled fajitas, which arrive sizzling to the table.
Our standard is great, and we don’t do anything without passion. Over 60 years, we’ve learned a lot about Mexican food, like how not to mess it up.
Horrible food and service never again
The restaurant is convenient, parking good. Entry inviting and personnel welcomed our party. My only complaint is the way fajitas are presented; I did not like the big bulky tray and I wish they served sour cream. Besides that all food tasted good.
Food was great, friendly service.
We enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet here. The food was tasty, but I would have preferred a little bigger selection of hot foods. It was a little limited. Also, some of the foods ran out repeatedly and were not refilled in a timely fashion. The service was very good. Our waiter was very attentive at refilling drinks and clearing away the empty plates. Overall, we were very satisfied with the experience and would come back in the future.
Our table was not ready, we waited ~45 minutes. The variety of food wasn’t very big; not very many healthy options. Server was very busy but made an effort to stop by and check on our party. There was only one helpful host, all the others kept going to her for guidance on the simplest requests (I.e. additional small plate, hot water). Not thrilled with experience and price is a bit high considering the former.
Moved out of CA and come back occasionally. Wife wanted to go because Sunday brunch was(key word) great!!!
Now it's double the price, plus a surcharge due to minimum wage. How stupid is the surcharge, just build it into the cost, that's the way it's always been done.
Service was crap. Waited 5 minutes at the front, noboby else here, for employees to even come to ask us anything.
Sat is with little customer service.
No free champagne given.
Waitress, though not really needed, came ONCE to the table and we had to ask for the bill at the end after waiting for some time.
Busboy was super attentive, got the used plates almost immediately. Great job there.
Food was CRAP!!!!
The potato dish with some vegetables tasted like it had been dropped in the dirt and then out back in the pan.
Nobody attending/making tortillas.
Fruit was awful!!!! Nowhere near ripe.
Omelets were the only palatable item, for us.
The Mexican sweet bread was cold and poor quality.
The churros we're cold and way under cooked, doughy.
All in all it was a HUGE let down and needless to say we won't be back.
Friends and family we told this to all agreed. They have not been, and they/we used to go monthly, I'm years and have no plans to go back.
This is coming from a Hispanic family, so they know Mexican food.
Waiter was great and so was the food! Great experience!
The food was good overall until my son and I split a churro. It was slightly burnt on the outside and still doughy on the inside. I got a lime flavored mint to kill the taste and it was awful! They also didn’t replenish the waffles until we were leaving.
Love this place
Great food and service !
Our waiter Bilal was awesome, he was always busy helping other tables but never left us wanting anything. The best service we've ever received at this location and we frequently visit for lunch and dinner. This was a very enjoyable Mother's Day dinner.
Thank you Bilal.
I had reservations at 12 and did not get seated until 1. Maybe don’t accept as many reservations if you can’t keep up. I would have made reservations elsewhere if I knew I was going to have to wait an entire hour. It was very disorganized.
Went in Mother’s Day, I understand it’s one of the busiest days of the year but we had to wait an hour and a half past our reservation time. Once we sat we were offered water, after that the server didn’t come back until we had to ask another server for champagne. Once we got our champagne it was warm, not cold at all. We were never offered refills for our water, dirty plates all over the table and had to wait 20 min for the server to bring out the check once we asked for it. Like i said I understand it’s busy but this was overall one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
This was the worst experience for brunch on Mother's Day I have ever had. The place clearly over booked tables so the wait, even with a reservation was +1 hour. Crowds so large you could not hear your name being called. When we finally made it to our table the buffet was cold, many of the trays/dishes were empty, lines continued to be large on the inside, the servers were clearly in over their heads. Running around everywhere trying to get to everyone. One of them even bumped into my mother who was sitting at the booth and spilled cold drink on her because he was running down and overly packed walkway to get to his other tables but was so oblivious to it all that he didn't even notice. Horrible, horrible experience not worth a single dollar spent. I apologized profusely to my mother and mother-in-law for such a terrible experience and will be taking them out again for a do over this weekend.
Thanks for completely ruining our Mother's Day El Torito! ZERO STARS!!! What a complete disaster!!!! When we arrived and saw upwards of 50 people standing around outside. we were told it would be roughly 45 mins past our reservation, which although is ridiculous we could have survived... BUT then we were told by the angry mob outside that many people had been already waiting for over an hour past their reservation time with no indication that they were any closer on the list. Not only did you ruin a day that was supposed to be special but you had and zero regard for people who had taken the time to reserve in advance. Good thing my family was ok with fast food. Wow!!!!!
We booked reservations for 10:30am for Mother’s Day. There was a huge overflow crowd when we arrived. The restaurant appeared to be extremely overbooked. We and other parties with reservations were repeatedly told they’d be seated in 20 minutes. There was a leaf one man with reservations for 9:45am still had not been seated by 11:10. That’s when we left.
Over an hour wait despite reservation, for Sunday Brunch on Mother's Day
Not a good Sunday brunch at all. Food was bland. Spanish rice was more white then Spanish. Beans had no taste. Enchiladas were small and soggy. Red chili beef wasn't even chili and has potatoes in it!
Would recommend the Tustin El Torito location for brunch for sure. We have been to the one at the Orange Outlets and Yorba Linda, always to crowded, loud and just not worth it to me. Chose Tustin and we were very happy, better selection of food, not crowded or loud. Staff was very attentive and accomodating. We will be returning tho this location.
Excellent time for my 49th birthday with my wife her daughter and her children thank you for the excellent experience
They lost my reservation and we're not knowledgeable about food ingredients. We had an allergy in our party and the server could not help figure out any good accommodations.
