El Torito - Northridge
My husband and I went to El Torito for a Sundate to end our busy weeks. I love the margaritas at the El Torito locations which is what prompted us to make a reservation. The portions of the meals are huge and easily shareable. We started off with the chicken flautas appetizer and shared the steak and cheese enchilada plate. The food tasted amazing and was very affordable. We will definitely be visiting again in the future.
New Year’s Eve celebration with family.
I still had to wait 20 minutes even though I had reservations
Great food, and the service was terrific - especially since it was Christmas and the place was very busy!
I'm so glad we decided to go out Christmas Day. The Brunch was wonderful, fresh food and a large variety. Spacing and masks were worn by all and seating was spaced
appropriately. El Torito once again does not disappoint!
Food was cold. Restaurant was very cold.
The service is very good and most of the food is very tasty.
Thanksgiving dinner. Not enough servers. No menú. Buffet only. Disappointed overall.
Our reservations was at 4:45 yesterday and 8 of us were there 5 minutes before the time. Our table was not ready and they keep telling us that they were working on it. We waited for more than 30 minutes standing for the table to be ready. What I don’t understand is we made a reservation ahead of time and it seems that they treated us as walk ins.
The most glaring observation we noticed is that they are not asking for the vaccination records for all diners which is a violation for the LA County ordinance effective November 4, 2021.
Great service , delicious Thanksgiving dinner and bang for your buck!
children running around unmasked, crowded together, loud
It might seem like an unconventional choice, but we've been coming here for Thanksgiving for several years now. The traditional turkey, stuffing, gravy, etc. are all wonderful, and then there's the fantastic chile colorado, chile verde, tamales, tacos... Mmmmmmm...
Nice friendly staff, very professional, along with delicious food!
Horrible experience! Waited 35 mins to have a waiter serve us!! Then waited for 20 mins just to get seated with a reservation!!! Food was horrible. Margaritas were watered down,
Ate dinner at the bar. Food and Drinks were great. And the bartender Gustavo is fantastic!! Renovations to the restaurant are nice.. We will be back!
Went for my dad's bday last night. The waitress kept avoiding our table finally after about 10 mins she came. I ordered sizzling beef enchilada and my niece ordered hamburger. When the food came I got chicken not beef and my nieces burger was burned bread and meet burned. The waitress asked if I wanted I beef enchilada but I didn't want to wait another hour. Iwill never go there again.
Love this El Torito!! Great food, not crowded and the service was good. I would recommend to anyone for a delicious lunch!
Mom birthday 73 years
Excellent food and service!!!! The mimosas were a little weak but it was okay.
I went for their 67th anniversary. The taco line was too long. Next time they should plan it out a little bit better. By the time I got my tacos my other food was cold.
Celebrating a birthday, had a really great time. Our server was amazing.
Remodeled-looks great! Service and food were also great!
I took my mom to El Torito for her 75th birthday. I called earlier in the day and asked if they still sang happy birthday for bday celebrations, was told yes.
When we arrived, despite getting there 5 mins before reservation, we waiting several minutes. We understood since they seemed understaffed.
When we were finally taken to our table, we waited several minutes for the waitress to even acknowledge we were there. We again understood since she seemed to be serving several tables.
When our food arrived - carne asada and shrimp platters - I asked for utensils since we had not been given any, despite already having chips and salsa….so no napkins either. Took several minutes and food was getting cold, so we started eating the shrimp taco style while we got a knife and fork to cut the meat.
I know there’s a shortage of staff across the country, Delta concerns, lack of childcare, etc. so we again tried to be understanding.
I was anxiously waiting for the staff to bring the flan and sing my mom happy birthday. I know she was, too, since our family has been going to El Torito for years.
This never happened. When the waitress brought the check I asked about it to which she replied, “oh, you still want that?” I was confused since I’m not sure what would have changed. I said it was too late since we were done eating and when I realized they probably wouldn’t sing, I ordered her a mud pie.
The waitress just said “ok” and walked away. No apology.
Again, trying to understand things are different during a pandemic but we will not be returning. Or at least not to this location. Plus we noticed there were a lot more staff about 45 minutes into our dinner, so perhaps they are not understaffed but it was just a scheduling issue.
Bummed about bad experience since we love El Torito.
The food and service were good. I gave it only 4 stars because there was an unexpected service charge on the bill. We asked for an explanation and the manager mumbled some BS.
No hostess was on duty, took awhile to get seated. Table and seats a little dirty, could have used a wipe down before we were sat. Chips and Salsa very good and fresh. Margarita, got it on the rocks, and far too much ice, hardly any "drink", and the taste was not very good. Was told by a Bartender at Chevy's to always order on the rocks, because it is made to order and much better then the machine produced iced margarita. Not here at this El Torito. Food was okay, very warm, but not really hot, could have done better here. taste was good for what I ate, brought the rest home and have not eaten yet. Was very loud, seemed like music playing very loudly. Two of our party were celebrating Birthdays and on separate checks, which had not been a problem at this Location in the past, but this time you would not honor both of them. The other party had delayed coming on their own to celebrate with us, and ended up getting treated poorly.
Brunch was great and our waitress was extremely pleasant and welcoming!
The interior and exterior need a major overhaul. The food is as I remembered from the 80s. Our server, Jennifer, was cheery and attentive. She made the overall experience better!
Although we decided to sit in bar for happy hour instead in the main room I didn’t realize that meant not so good service. We should have stayed in the main room I think service would have been way better.
Most dishes had the same flavor that just over powers everything so it taste like you’re eating garlic meat and garlic sauce
Even with reservation, had to wait extra 10 minutes for table even though Restautant wasn’t full; tableside guacamole was excellent; food was good and hot; restaurant not air conditioned enough; service slow due to lack of personnel; most restaurants currently under staffed
New renovations look nice.. New chicken salad is great. Server was very good and attentive.
The food looked better on the ad than it actually was. It was just fair.
Our server Sherie was an absolute delight. She has a huge smile that immediately made us feel welcome. We also had the pleasure of chatting with Jesus. These two employees were so nice and and they made dining out more than just a meal, more like a social evening. The Chips and salsa are my favorite and the skinny Patron Margarita was excellent. Our food came quickly and was quite tasty. Portions are large so we had leftovers for Sunday morning breakfast. We will definitely be back because this is the type of dining experience we enjoy.
The Eggs Benedict was really good! I added some Red Pepper Dip on top of the eggs and potatoes to spice it up a little.
Food was good, with a good variety available. Only two problems: (1) Restaurant needs to have more employees as servers, as lines for taco's etc. and deserts are too long and take considerable time for guests to be server. (2) The ice cream should not be liquid.
Cleanness of restaurant needs to improve carpet is dirty and stained
Good food good service I enjoyed the atmosphere. happy
Received bad service when checking in. Had 2 reservations because the website did not let me do one big party. When we arrived I told the hottest if it was possible to sit us together. She said it would be a few minutes. We waited 35 minutes and nothing happen. When we asked if we can sit just half the party they said it was fine. When we saw that the table was able to sit all of us, we just asked for extra 2 chairs, they just couldn't understand. They had trouble understanding that we had 2 reservations and now we wanted to sit together. We ended up getting the chairs ourselves because they didn't do anything to accommodate us. The waitress was just ok, she had such a hard time getting our order. She kept forgetting what we asked for and half the time we didn't get what we needed. Not a great experience at all.
Very dusty. I had my baby shower hear in 1999 and birthday parties here before it's not the same.
Even though it's a big chain, El Torito has legitimately good food. It's a bit on the pricey side for what you're getting, but portions are pretty large. We came late on a Sunday evening and the service was a tad slow, even though the place was empty. I'd normally advocate supporting smaller, local Mexican restaurants, but El Torito fulfills that "special-occasion" Mexican restaurant craving I sometimes have. Because it's such a large restaurant, it's best to come here when it's busy for the ambience.
