We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Everything was OK..... nothing outstanding. Service was slow and several tables were not yet occupied. We had notified that this was a birthday celebration but there was no mention of that.
Our biggest concern was that El Segundo closed the next day due to an employee testing positive for Coronavirus....... so far, we do not have any symptoms.
Our waitress was great and the food and speciality drinks were very good . Lots of interesting dishes with nice blend of flavors . Speciality cocktails were very good . It’s a very happening vibe there !
Great family dinner in a lively environment.
I won't go back. Nothing bad happened, it just wasn't good food. After eating there I was told it was a locals place for happy hour. That makes sense-and yes if I was a local looking for a well priced HH-this would work.
Here's a rundown on the food; the chips and guac are definitely not made in-house, even though the guac description says "house style guac." The salsa is meh and the queso is salty.
I ordered a veg taco and it arrived with the meat taco with the meat juices dripping all over. I had to order another one. It was good-not great.
The restaurant is a pretty basic Mexican food style establishment that offers good value for dollars spent. The place can become very loud and congested during Happy Hour on the weekends--but this is pretty typical in Vail Village. Service was very good and the food was good.
Out server got out orders wrong. There was not enough wait staff. It literally took 20 mins to get a coke to table. The food was good but if they do not improve the service then I don’t see how they can stay in business.
Very good food. It is nice to have a Mexican food restaurant in Vail with food that is a step up from the normal tex-mex menu.
Went with a group of 5 on a Saturday night in Vail and really enjoyed! It's a loud, energetic restaurant. The margs are strong and delicious. We enjoyed the nachos as an appetizer, it was large enough for the 5 of us to share. The fajitas were delicious. Would recommend and go back! Just be ready to pay Vail prices.
We had a great meal and our server was incredible.
We ordered the queso but it didn’t come until the entree. We were comp’d for it. We each ordered 3 tacos and they were all not hot except for the ahi tuna taco which is suppose to be cold. The noise level was very high. The two of us sat across from each other and had to yell to talk to each other. This is a new place that we wanted to try but I don’t think we will come back.
Service was terrible. We ordered drinks and chips and salsa and were then forgotten about. There was a large party next to us that got all the attention and no one ever came to take our dinner order. We asked to speak with the manager who was apologetic but not overly helpful. El Segundo was recommended to us a by a friend but we would not recommend in return. I hope they improve their service.
I know this is Vail, and things are expensive, but this restaurant truly nickel and dimed every last item. My margarita was the smallest I've ever had. The ice overflowed the glass, so there was barely any liquid at all. We had to pay separately for rice, and for beans, which are generally included at many mexican restaurants. Chips and salsa also were not included. The food was good, but not good enough to compensate for the poor value.
Great food, great service great atmosphere, highly recommended.
Wonderful new restaurant in Vail serving modern cuisine with a Mexican touch.
Food was really good we mostly had the tacos which were inventive and delicious. Brussel sprouts side great. We as a family of 5 with teen kids were sat in a back room not part of the main dining space, and it lacked any kind of charm [and what made it worse was that there was a really obnoxious family party with smaller kids next to us who complained about everything - however they had loud, screaming ill behaved kids - they apparently were unhappy with food and loudly left in protest shouting to us to 'not order any food' - really strange and uncomfortable]. Anyway the food was very recommendable just make sure you don't sit where we did.
El segundo had a great vibe. The food was really good and the service prompt. I had the carnita tacos in corn tortilla since I am gluten free. My husband had a beef burrito big enough for 2 people. Overall I would recommend it to a friend😊👍🏼
Four of us. All food served cold from kitchen. Fajitas very fatty. Our server was excellent and very apologetic
Great place for authentic Mexican. Taco sampling is the way to go! Food is outstanding! Only complaint is the margarita's are half ice which is vary disappointing for a place of this caliber.
There ought to be an opportunity to give a zero for service. Empty glasses through most of the meal. Unreaponsive waiter
Our service could have been a bit better. There was only 2 of us and we both were given 1 set of silverware. Our server came to the table multiple times, but very quickly dropped things off and turned around in a rush before we could ask her for things like another set of silverware, or extra plates for our family style tacos. The house margarita tasted like soap for some reason. And the food overall didn’t really give me a reason to come back.
Just good old fashioned fun. Friendly staff and yummy food. Would go again next time I’m in town!
Delicious food! Great atmosphere!
Three days in a row here. One of the best values in Vail
Good food and drinks! The food came out super quickly, but some of the tacos were not super hot. The tacos seemed to be overpriced, but they are huge. Two tacos each was great for all of us
New favorite spot in town! I've seen this corner restaurant on the creek take on a variety of personalities over the years I've lived here, but El Segundo is my fav of them all!! Stop in for happy hour and get a high quality margarita for a fair price and 2-3 tacos to fill you up. I've already been at least 5 times since they've opened and will continue to come back.
-Overall Fav Taco: Hot Korean
-Fav Taco on Happy Hour: Crispy Mahi Mahi
-Highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. The bar is great but fills up quick.
-My one, tiny con: if you're going to charge $6 for salsa, it should either be bottomless or come in a larger bowl.
Great food. Fun atmosphere. Good portions. We had a big group and all the different taco's I tried were delicious!
So excited to try this restaurant. Sadly disappointed-- chips were stale, salsa was from a can from Safeway and they were out of fish tacos, out of burritos, out of ceviche, etc. at 7 pm on a Thursday. Hoping they can figure it out because the space and location are great--if they can not figure it out then please bring back white bison.
A varied menu is backed up by good service and quality food.
Food was mediocre and cold, told the server twice but supposedly was never relayed to a totally disconnected manager. After we paid he came to talk to us and said he could have done something if he knew but couldn’t do anything since we had already paid. Skip this place I doubt it will be open much longer.
Great, quick and friendly service. Margaritas and food excellent! Highly recommended.
Took my husband here for his birthday. We loved the ambiance - trendy with good lighting and good music. We enjoyed the friend of the devil margaritas - spicy and refreshing cucumber flavor. The tacos come out as one bigger size taco that is good to cut in half if you want to share a few. The tacos are not traditional Mexican tacos - theres fried chicken, Korean bbq, etc. which is fun for this type of place. The service was really really good and super fast. Our server Melissa was attentive and had a great fun personality. I was impressed at her ability to manage that many tables and still check in often. This was a great addition to vail village, I do recommend coming here. Nice lively atmosphere - they were busy!!
Really great fresh Mexican food is hard to come by. The tacos were excellent and the Margarita delish!
Great evening with friends at a very upbeat welcoming place. Staff is great and helped us with hard decisions on margaritas and food. Ended up with the Brussels sprouts and fajitas which we enjoyed. Popular bar scene which makes for a lively environment.
Drove in late from Utah, happy they were open till midnight! Service and food was great! In and out in 30 min, defiantly will be a repeat customer!
Excellent food, service and priced appropriate. I would definitely go back.
We had our three young children (4 yr, twin 2 yr) and the staff was so accommodating. The tacos were so amazing and I loved the family style of serving. We will be back.
Good food. Service was just ok
Slow service, bad ambiance, food on par with a discount grocery store.
Great new option in Vail Village. Perfect location, delicious food. We will be back!
Fresh, authentic Mexican food. Upbeat scene, friendly waitress and bartender! Won’t disappoint!!
