We are excited to announced that el Santo was recently awarded best latin restaurant in Vancouver by Vancouver Magazine.
Good food. Great place for a social evening for trying a variety of small eats
Great food. Great service. Amazing dining experience
Very awesome place, good service, delicious food
cool vibe and great food in nw.
Really great food and excellent service. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
This was our first visit to El Santo and we were in a bit of a hurry. The food we did order was delicious! Next time we plan on taking our time and sampling more of the menu.
This has been my 3rd visit. Twice for brunch and once for dinner and food has been fabulous.
We have visited many times for lunches, which were excellent value and fun. We decided to celebtrate our 30th aniversarsy with dinner and were disappointed. Grilled green onions were grill marked but not fully cooked. Butter sauce on my pork loin main was okay - but $30 warrants beyond okay. Mushroom medley appetizer was wonderful though. Service was slow.
The food was amazing as were the very friendly staff. It was our first visit and won’t be the last!
We have never been disappointed at El Santo. We enjoy both the brunch and dinner menus.
Everything about our experience was exactly as it should have been. The food and the drinks were great and the staff was extremely knowledgeable. I will definitely go back!
Went on Father’s Day, busy, waited a long time for our meals. Place ran out of rice.
The back of the restaurant is super dark. We made a reservation, so I was expecting a better table.
We went to El Santo for Sunday brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. They were busy but the service was snappy, with different servers working seamlessly to deliver the best to each table. Food was great, the servings not overwhelmingly large, just right. Great coffee too.
The first time we went we had a great time. Awesome live band. This time the waitress was moody, 2 of the 5 happy hour food items we ordered were sub par. Definitely had better food last time. We left a little disappointed. Definitely don’t try the torts. Dry hard bread and no sauce or flavour to the meat.
Great Mexican food and Tequila/Mezcal selection. Kid friendly for those that matters to. Food was reasonably priced for what we got. Service was a little slow to start, but that could've been affected by a larger reservation. Once we had food, they were attentive and friendly. Being able to reserve in advance was great, even it it wasn't necessary for that particular night.
Asked for a surprise flight of Mezcals to sample, was a little disappointed in the lack of variety the chose, but otherwise a great experience.
Really good staff, amazing menu and good ambience.
Great food, so many options for drinks, fun ambiance. We went on saturday night so there was a live band playing which helped create a lively atmosphere. This is not a place for people who want a quiet night out!
El Santo has a great atmosphere and energetic vibe. Food was very good but portions are small in comparison to other Mexican restaurants. Would definitely come back to try out other selections from the menu. Highly recommend the Chile Relleno as it was a fairly generous portion and very delicious.
I was really impressed and will definitely be back. I had listed allergies on my reservation and our server confirmed them with us upon sitting down.
The food was amazing and a great selection of cocktails.
As I was there for lunch I didn’t actually order a cocktail but will definitely go back for dinner & drinks.
Great food and cocktails! Everything we ordered was delicious! A favorite of mine was the skillet cornbread, next time we will definitely order two because it is fairly small for sharing. The Barbcoa de cachete tacos which were very good and the churros for desert were fresh, warm and tasted amazing. They had live music on which created a wonderful lively atmosphere.
My only complaint would be with the very small quantity of tortilla chips for Trio de Salsas and the Guacamole. There was four of us at dinner and the amount tortilla chips was so small we each got 2 chips and had tons of salsa and guacamole left. They refilled the chips for us at no charge but each time it was still a very small quantity and we had to wait a very long time for the refill as it was busy in the restaurant and the service was slower. I just wish they gave us a little more in the bowl, or we had ordered the salsas and then the guacamole separately so we got two bowls of chips.
Excellent meal! It was prime time on Saturday night, so service was a tad slow, but overall we enjoyed our meal and I will for sure eat there again. We specifically chose El Santo that evening because they were featuring BC spot prawns on the menu - something I had wanted to try while they were still in season. The tacos were also fantastic.
The fish tacos were excellent, especially for the price. The wine list was outstanding for it's selection of BC wines.
Great food and drinks every time with excellent service
Firstly, I received a notification from Open Table stating that I didn’t show up for my reservation when I did. It’s not my fault that the hostess doesn’t know how to use the app. Secondly, I waited for a hostess for ten minutes to be seated. I had to approach a bartender and ask that someone attend to me. Thirdly, it was so loud that my boyfriend and I couldn’t hear each other at all. The drinks were great but food was mediocre and service was clearly lack luster.
Would recommend to anyone
The staff were excellent. It was a birthday lunch and they allowed decorations and a cake to be brought in the day before and decorated the day of. There were very thorough descriptions of the food provided by the server. It could be helpful to have more description in the menu and to give the name of the interpreted dish so customers have a better idea of what they are ordering. The food was excellent
Amazing food and drinks!
Good food but quite loud
Always a favourite date night spot. We will enjoy it again soon.
Server was very courteous, attentive and didn’t want to be our next best friend - qualities that work for us.
Noise level was a little high and I mentioned this to an acquaintance today and she said the same thing - we are pushing 70 and this is a common issue with us and friends.
Seemed to be a really mixed crowd - we like that.
Great experience! Excellent food and superb service. Enjoyed the live band performing jazz standards. Was a great way to kick off a Saturday evening.
Birthday for my husband
Ema was fantastic , great food and atmosphere . Went back to get take out the next day.
Nice place with a great selection of cocktails, really good. Food was very good, we had tacos and they were really delicious. Only complaint: the service was poor. They kept rushing us, we were not even done with our food and they asked if they could take our platel. I felt rushed and I did not like the experience at all.
Have been to El Santo many times, have never been disappointed with the food or service. Would and have recommended this restaurant to all my friends and family.
first time to be here but it didn't disappoint. the servers were attentive. i just hope the manager/owner could be lil bit more engaging to the clientele.
although me and my friend were pleasantly surprised the quality of food they serve here. I just wish tacos to be a lil bit bigger in size. otherwise, delicioso comida Mexicana!
The food and drinks are fantastic. I only have two minor complaints
1) It was very noisy. The table next to us were having a normal conversation, and we were hearing perhaps more than we were comfortable with. You may want to put up baffles between the booths?
2) Some of the servers seemed a bit unattentive and unknowledgeable about the food in the restaurant. This did not apply to all of them. The acoustics may have contributed to this.
To make it clear, I am still very happy with the restaurant. The food and drinks are wonderful!
