Took a long time to get served, was not the most hospitable environment. Not very accommodating. Don’t think I will go back there.
Food was very expensive for no reason & it wasn’t that good
The menu listed for the Beach Club was incorrect. Very limited and not appropriate for a Sunday brunch with friends. No listing was found for other restaurant on site, Caña. Spoke with server who said we could just go to Caña and get a table. She was unable to call over, so we had to walk over and find a hostess. Once we found one, we were told to wait outside for 20 minutes and then would be seated. Our reservation at the Beach Club meant nothing, despite being the same hotel. Frustrating. We got to the table and our server was very nice - all good there. There is a fish stir-fry listed in the menu. It's what 3 of us ordered. No stir-fry - it really should be listed as a fish-and-chips. Overall, mediocre experience; not what one expects from El San Juan Hotel.

Visited for a birthday brunch. I was unaware before booking the Mimosas were overly expensive ($17) per glass and with half empty pours. The food quality was poor for the prices and the waiter messed up our bill. It’s took over 1 hour to pay tab tab… management eventually comp’ed $200 off our $800+ tab. It was a absolute HORRIBLE experience… but the scenery is nice 👍🏽
Most disappointing experience ever at a Fairmont property. To start off, we had a reservation and none of the staff at the resort could even tell us where to go for our reservation! We finally found where we were supposed to be, although there was no hostess to seat us so e just seated ourselves and proceeded to wait forever for a server to greet us so we had to go to the bar and ask to have a server sent to our table. Then we placed our order and after an hour and a half with being served I got up again and found a someone who looked like a manager and he explained that they realized that the computer system was not sending orders through to the kitchen, so after an hour and a half our order was never even seen! They tried to rectify the situation and finally brought our food, which actually was quite delicious, but at that point didn't really matter! Manager ended up comping out meal, which we appreciated, but the entire experience was horrendously frustrating and extremely disappointing for a Fairmont property. Don't waste your time. I should have listened to the other bad reviews!
Had to complain multiple times about server not coming to table, long wait for everything, drinks were sitting on the bar for a while till we asked could we get them. Overall, I would not recommend and should've listened to the server when she suggested going to the other restaurants.
Service was horrible, ambience isn’t great; although it’s beachside, you don’t even see the beach in most of the seating. The food was nothing special, but it was priced as a 5 star restaurant. Won’t be back.
Initially the waitress took care of us right away, but it took 45 mins to an hour for us to get the food. The food itself wasn’t all that for the price that we paid for it. It took awhile for us to get the bill. Overall, poor customer service. There is not enough staff, and the prices were not reasonable for the food that we got.

The place that I reserved kept telling me that I was at the wrong place. Sent me to another side of the resort, just for me to RETURN back to them and they try to sit me like nothing happened. I booked for breakfast and when I got to my reservation ON TIME they told me breakfast was over. Why did you allow me to book breakfast at this time if it was done?????? Customer service was yeah. Food over priced, and I do not recommend.
We stopped by the El San Juan during a family vacation for dinner by the ocean. We couldn’t have picked a better spot. The food was outstanding and the portions were generous. There was a live band playing (a rarity during Covid) that really added to the ambiance. The beverages were a bit pricey, but they were expertly crafted. Overall, we had an outstanding experience and would definitely visit again.

This place had an awesome atmosphere but the food was not good. Also, a shot cost $22 a piece. We were shocked. A little seasoning can go a long way. I got the grilled chicken sandwich, and had to send it back all to get some churassaco tacos that were bland. Not worth the $27.
The food should've def been better. I bought the cabana sampler and out of everything it brought, the only thing that was good was the truffle fries. The service was great, the ambiance was great. My family and I had a great day. Would def return, just maybe offer to cook for them. hahaha
We arrived on time for our reservation but no one was at the reception. We approached a waiter passing by and they said to wait at the reception for the host. In the meantime, we saw other hotel guests just entering the dining area and taking seats and ordering at the bar. We asked another waiter passing by and got another person to seat us. We waited 30 minutes in total before being seated. The seats we wanted with a view were already taken by other people who arrived later than us without any reservation. We had made reservations a week before for our group to celebrate my mom’s 50th birthday and no accommodations were made in preparation of this. The waiter quickly put 3 tables together in the back far from the band and behind broken umbrellas. We had no view at all. All of the nice tables were taken by people ordering drinks at the bar and taking a seat wherever they wanted. If we knew this was the case we would have taken those seats ourselves instead of waiting 30 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was not even busy. Additionally, service was very slow. We waited 20 minutes before the waiter took our orders. The food came almost an hour after. It was a very poor experience. The food itself was fair but very limited especially for vegetarians. For a restaurant part of the a Fairmont, it was grossly below expectations.
Club sandwich was really bad, service was slow. Burger was good !
Unfortunately, the service was terrible. We waited more than 45 minutes for our first drink, the food arrived cold, they brought one dish at a time several minutes apart, we ordered a hamburger and they had no ketchup 🙄. It was one fail after another. It’s simply not worth my time to give details on all the other things that went wrong. I felt bad for the staff because it is managements fault.
Arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation to find a long line of roughly 10 parties waiting. Was told that reservations are not being honored and they were taking people in order of the line. We waited about 45 minutes and then left to eat elsewhere.
We had a great meal thanks to the restaurant manager Justine who took what started out as a bad day and turn it into a wonderful day

THE worst place I’ve ever been too . ONE to find the the place is almost impossible, TWO if your dinning in the evening you have to ask them for a lamp so you can see your food . No cocktails menu , only 5 items on there dinner menu . The outside wasn’t as nice as they led me to believe. I was so disappointed, I walked out. I’ll never come back please don’t waste your tiMe !
The service and food was horrible. The servers did not have any hospitality and the food was cold. The best part was the scenery.
Extremely limited menu not notes on their website. Basically 4 items. We had the premier item a hamburger with a lobster cheese sauce. Soupy and not very good at best. Expected a much better experience.

Did not like the customer service. One of the platter did not contain all the elements as described in our offert (mango chutney and olives) and we asked for no pickles in the sliders but they came out with pickles.

This is the first time in my life I feel like being treated like a wanted person. We were having brunch at the hotel pool bar and went for a dip in the ocean(not in the hotel fancy 4 pools) and the security guards refused to let us back. “Grab your things and leave” is the only thing they are speaking with us even we told them we have an open bottle at the restaurant. So rude and ignorant. I was asking the security supervisor who he giving the guards the directions to meet us to discuss which code we broke and he refused to come. This is disappointing to our experience. Shame on the security team doesn’t respect any of the guests.

Did reservation but i waited to be seating....The SPECTACULAR service of the waiter (Carlitos) save the day.
It was a brunch and food was very good . Carlos was very simpatico and nice. Hope to have another Gustazo in the near future.
This was a great experience that surpass our expectations. Food as well as service was excellent. Our waiter was Enrique, very customer service oriented. Also we known Fabio, the manager, who was very friendly with us.
WE arrived and table was ready. However it is an open space that @ 2 pm doesn't have any shadow, so we have to eat under the sun.
