The food was fabulous!! Can’t praise the food enough! However, the service made my husband and I doubt if we would come back. Our server seemed to struggle to handle his section and there were long swathes of time where we left sitting with no drinks, boxes, or the check. As a former server/bartender, I felt bad for him and also ran out of patience.
All of our food came out at once instead of the appetizer first then the entrees. So it was an overwhelming amount on our table, and the waitress didn’t come by much but she was also seemed busy. The ambiance was awesome and the food was great, we will definitely be back.
I am always trying new restaurants the Food was good but not coming back. Over $ 135.00 for 2 people is excessive. A $19.00 margarita $30 for ropa vieja.
Very nice restaurant, ambiance was great and felt up-scale. Music was fantastic. Was a little pricey but a nice night out.
The food and drinks were good, but it was overpriced and a auto gratuity of 18% was applied for my table of two
Wonderful evening with friends. No live music on Sunday night but the Cuban ambiance was great and the food was better. Food service was a tad slow but no one minded and the server checked with us frequently to ensure we had what we needed and were enjoying the food. Strongly recommend the empanadas - both chicken and beef.
A little bit on the expensive side, needs more food variety.
Atmosphere and service was great but the Menu is very limited
First, the food was average, I have had better. Secondly, the waitress got the order right but the cooking staff got the order wrong. They brought out what we did not order then they forgot to bring out a part of the order. It was disappointing. The waitress, who was Dominican, was very good and apologetic but it was not her fault. Thirdly, the noise level was high and there was supposed to be live music, but that did not materialize. Finally, it was way too expensive for what was ordered. Three of us should not have run almost $200 for two orders of empanadas, rice, beans, and pork. We will not be returning.
If this review sounds poor it was because it was meant to be poor.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at El Puro last night. Our waiter, Manny, was enthusiastic, friendly yet professional, and well-versed on all food and drink questions we asked. The drinks and appetizers that he suggested were delivered in a timely manner, and were wonderful. We tried a variety of apps and entrees, and everything was delicious. We also enjoyed the live music, and were blown away by some of the songs performed. It was not your typical run-of-the-mill song choices! We will definitely be back, and look forward to warmer weather so we can enjoy the patio too.
Best Cuban food I’ve had in Charlotte! We got three dishes and shared so we could taste them all. The roasted pork was out of this world good!! Cooked to perfection. The chicken was also delicious, served with a sauce that can only be described as a tropical bbq sauce (incredible!). The brisket was also fantastic. We were all three absolutely delighted with our meal and will return often. Support this fantastic new local restaurant!!
We really enjoyed our experience overall. We happens to go for dinner on New Year’s Day and they were only offering a limited menu which we did not expect. There were no prices listed to so ordered blind - the food was great but pricey!
This was the worst experience ever. I made reservations 2 weeks prior to arriving and was called twice as they insisted I change my reservation first from 8:30pm to 7pm then to 5pm of which I refused. When we arrived for our 7pm reservation we were only able to order drinks when the manager approaches our table and advises that the kitchen has closed this was about 7:45pm. She then says they have an event that is $120 per person and we would be welcome to stay. The management staff did nothing to honor my reservation made two weeks prior. UNACCEPTABLE! If you are looking for the Cuban experience please look somewhere else.
Great. Ana & team were awesome!
Nice place, the live music was amazing.
Drinks are overpriced, food was good
This place is great! Everything was delicious, except the tostones were a bit dry, which is why I gave a 4/5 stars for the food. Otherwise, everything was great. Happy to have a delicious Cuban restaurant in Charlotte like they have in Miami!
I love the decor and all staff is very friendly. I believe there are some training opportunities for serving staff but it is fairly new. Music on weekends is great. However it is very loud and you have to yell to place your order or have a conversation at the table so that should be taken into consideration. Pricy. I will definitely go again.
Food was very good the band was extremely loud for the size of the restaurant it personally ruined it for me Guests need to observe that 18% gratuity is added into the bill up front as well regardless of table size. I wouldn’t go back unless I could carry on a dinner conversation without extremely loud music.
Live Jazz on Thursday was amazing! Loved the drinks, food, and service. Great spot!
Good food and service but the prices were Abit steep.
El puro its a great place and very good food , service was fenomenal .. if you visit charlotte this is a great place to enjoy ... thank you Luis fir your great service ..a 5 star prifesional ... M nunez
Absolutely the best experience! From service, to drinks to food! I highly recommend!!!
The overall experience was amazing. The Ambience was very laid back with great music in the background. The drinks were amazing and the knowledge of our server describing the dishes to our non Latino friends was great. The main dishes were very well presented and at good temperature to enjoy. The dishes were very tasteful to what we are accustomed to when eating in Miami when we go on vacation. The only thing we were a little bit disappointed in was with the appetizer (empanadas). The ratio of crust to filling was not well proportioned. There was very little filling ( meat or chicken) inside of the empanada crusts for the size of the empanada. We were overall pleased with everything and will come back for another girls night.
Great good. Terrible service!
The space was very nice. The decor was appealing and the food was delicious. My only complaint: How can a Cuban restaurant not have a good Mojito? However, the Jibaro was delicious!
I think the place is fantastic. The music, the people, the decor, etc. Unfortunately, the food was not that great for the price. We pay $50 for a not that good filet mingnon cut. They first brought us the sides and we waited about 20 mins until I asked why we haven't got the entrees. It happened the same with the dessert.
I was charged for 2 beers that we never asked for. Fortunately, I spotted the mistake before paying.
The place has so much potential but first you need adjust prices and improve customer service.
My husband and I really enjoy their food and drinks as well as the drinks. Live music was a plus. We celebrate our 28 anniversary and el Puro was an excellent place for this special occasion.
It was a great change of pace and the server was very helpful
The restaurant ambient was second to none. Sarah, the server was polite, attentive and ensure we had a great time. The live music was awesome!! I was expecting a bigger menu options typical to a Hispanic restaurant, but was not disappointed with my option. The plates are huge!!!!!
Very nice ambience our waitress was so sweet and attentive. She even recommended some delicious dishes to taste.
Excellent service, great cocktails, great way to experience Cuban inspired cuisine.
Food and ambience were great! Price was pretty high given the size of the portions.
The establishment looked very well taken care of. The food was good but it was expensive for a Cuban "daily" meal type of food, elevated but expensive. No need to charge $28 for fried pork or $30 for Ropa Vieja. Don't get me wrong, Ropa Vieja takes time to cook but I think the prices are high! Plus, it is not like it is in an expensive area of the city where rents might be higher. Even the desserts were more expensive that other good restaurants in Charlotte. Here all were $10 each. Usually expected around $8. They also applied directly an 18% gratuity to my bill.
Excellent ambiance, service and food. Would visit again.
Excellent time! The food Was great and music was awesome
The food was excellent, the service was fast and very friendly.i can't wait to take family there again. One of the best food servers we've had in a long time.
The food was good but overpriced. The service decent.
Overpriced, way to small menue food lacked of season
Food was great. Empanadas delicious, pork chunks delicious. Service great. Only issue I have was the prices. Very expensive for a neighborhood place. If you got more value for your money I’d go back. But it’s the same cost of a fine dining experience at a high end restaurant.
