Nestled in the cottonwoods, El Pinto was founded with eight tables in 1962. Twin brothers John and Jim Thomas, known as the Salsa Twins, carry on the family tradition and have expanded El Pinto into the quintessential "Spot" for healthy and fresh New Mexican cuisine. Experience an authentic Taste of New Mexico.

The Salsa Twins are pairing tradition with innovative healthy nutrition at El Pinto. El Pinto is proud to have the first and only Animal Welfare Approved laying hen program on property. 200 hens lay pasture raised eggs for daily use. An onsite green house produces over 5,000 lbs of organically grown greens.

Freshness is throughout El Pinto. El Pinto uses chile from Hatch, NM, dryland beans from CO, healthy sunflower oil for frying, Celtic sea salt for seasoning, and local ingredients when in season.

It has been featured on Food Network, Travel Channel and the BBC among other places.

My husband and I loved the red chili rub ribs, excellent. The only things that I did not like was the spanish rice. It was very dry and the when I tried to chew it, it felt like I was chewing into tiny beads. Audelia Everding

I have been coming to El Pinto for more years than I can remember and I always order the chile relleno plate and have never had issues. I have been told with the new ownership, the quality of the meals has declined but I hadn't noticed, until this past weekend. The relleno plate was served with two green chile's in egg batter, fried and on a plate. No chile. No cheese and a slopping of beans to the side. The flavor was bland (chile??) and when I mentioned it to the server, I was told this is HOW IT IS ALWAYS SERVED.

My drinks were tasteless. I ordered vodka tonics and well, flat tonic and if there was any vodka in it, I couldn't tell but I sure did pay for it.

Sorry to say, that will be it for me. Not interested in going again.

I had the ribs 1/2 rack and they were pretty much tasteless beyond the over powering red pepper flakes. The thing that turned me off the most was the fact that you have this beautiful property location and the place feels like it needs to be shut down for a thorough cleaning seriously. It does not feel clean enough and I cant help but think that others have had the same feeling. I will say our waitress was very nice and accommodating but each and every time she came back from a request it took very long and she knew this because it always came with an apology. It was not very busy and I'm not without understanding but it was off putting.

This is the best place ever! Everyone loved their meals and we could not have had a better time anywhere! The tomahawk steak is always amazing!

Had to ask if they still serve chips and salsa at beginning, otherwise I don’t think we would have been served any. All four of us ordered a full dinner entree, but were never offered sopapillas at the end of the meal. We were entertaining out of state friends, who wanted to experience New Mexico. It was a bit disappointing. We probably will not drive from our foothills home for such an experience again.

Service was attentive and noticed when water needed to be refilled. Around 3 or 4 small round tables pushed together, conversation from one end of the group to the other was kind of awkward. It was pretty quiet, though. Food compliments ranged from excellent (ribs) to okay for some of the other meals. Most everyone had water, so can't comment on other drinks. But, all-in-all our group had a good time and enjoyed seeing and eating at El Pinto.

We dine here when we are in town. we travel 4 hrs and always look forward to a relaxed meal. normally there's 8 to 11 in our party. the service and food is very good. we use the reservation app. it works out well for us. I'm amazed as to the size of the restaurant. it seemed so private for us.

Consistently good. We go to the restaurant when meeting friends from Rio Rancho as it’s a good location to meet from Albuq....about half way. I specifically asked for a more quiet table as El Pinto can be very loud. The table had a good location in the corner of the Garden room and we did not have a problem hearing. Food and service were good as usual. Very reasonably priced.

We took my dad to El Pinto for hi birthday and had a wonderful dinner. Audrey was our server and was fantastic super attentive and knowledgeable, she also made some suggestions that were spot on. I love El Pinto and their red chile is the best.

Dinner was good. Was first time sitting on patio near the dog yard. Didn’t realize it was a dog friendly restaurant and while I love dogs the guests we took were not thrilled to be sitting next to dog park patio with open windows. We didn’t have any issues but was certainly surprised and will ask not to sit in that area in the future when we have guests in from out of town.

Food is great as always and so are margaritas!

As I mentioned in my review with Open Table Reservations, this is the second time that we have been seated in an area that is just for Open Table Reservations. It was lousy! One of the reasons one goes to this venue is for the atmosphere. If you get Open Table, they sit you in an area that is more of hall way and there is nothing to see but a waiter/waitress service area in the corner. we brought friends here from out of town and we raved about the atmosphere and then we are seated in a hallway. Also, three out of four of our meals were prepared incorrectly! Then later in the meal a couple with two large dogs were seated in the same area and these were LARGE DOGS and they were not service dogs! Was not a great dinning experience. As I mentioned, this was the second time we have been seated in this area and we will never use Open Table again, especially at El Pinto, if we return. May try Sadies or some other Mexican food restaurant as there are many in this city. Sorry but the truth may hurt

Two of the three dinners were really good, so were the drinks. One of the dinners was cold, bland and tasted oily. It took a long time for the margarita and some green salsa to arrive, which made the cold food only get colder. The waiter was very nice, love the patio. Pricey for the quality but the sopapillas are awesome. The sangria was not good.

We will not be back! We literally eat there every Saturday night typically running a tab/in the neighborhood of 240-320 dollars. Tonight I left my sweater at the table returned within 3-5 minutes to find the table bussed and no sweater! Staff and management didn’t care. Didn’t even take my info until my husband went in. They obviously don’t care if they lose business or not. Like I said we won’t be back and will share our experience with others!!

We had a reservation. The hostess sat us in front of the door to go outside. It was cold and waiters and waitresses kept walking past our table bumping into things. There was a large group with kids running around making a lot of noise. This was probably our worst experience at El Pinto.

We were a large group whose numbers kept changing, yet the El Pinto staff were graciously accommodating. All my guests were from out of town and I wanted them to have a real New Mexican experience. El Pinto was awesome! Our table was angled in front of a beautiful fireplace, in a room with lush plants & a waterfall! Our waitress was patient, charming and efficient. My guests were impressed with the atmosphere and LOVED the cuisine. From the delicious appetizers to the perfect pitchers of margaritas; from the scrumptious entrees to the decadent desserts. A memorable time was had by all. After dinner we moved our party to the fire pit outside the front entrance. I was hoping for a New Mexico “True” experience for my friends – we found it at El Pinto!

Margaritas were too sweet; there was a beetle in our salsa that seemed to be In the salsa for quite awhile - it didn't just fly in. Beetles don't fly. We ordered the ribeye cooked medium and enchiladas. The ribeye was way overcooked - well done. We were given a levante dessert for our trouble which is very delicious. But our meal was doomed after the salsa experience.

Thank you El Pinto for hosting my friends retirement luncheon. Only challenge is finding parking close to the door because it's generally packed but the resteraunt is on a large grounds and has plenty of handycap spots. Loved the ambiance, feels like being in a Mexican hacienda. The staff was very attentive and helped us set up for our luncheon and helped with splitting the checks. Up to 29 can order from the menu. The event coordinator responded promptly to my emails and was very communicative leading up to the party.
