Nestled in the cottonwoods, El Pinto was founded with eight tables in 1962. Twin brothers John and Jim Thomas, known as the Salsa Twins, carry on the family tradition and have expanded El Pinto into the quintessential "Spot" for healthy and fresh New Mexican cuisine. Experience an authentic Taste of New Mexico.

The Salsa Twins are pairing tradition with innovative healthy nutrition at El Pinto. El Pinto is proud to have the first and only Animal Welfare Approved laying hen program on property. 200 hens lay pasture raised eggs for daily use. An onsite green house produces over 5,000 lbs of organically grown greens.

Freshness is throughout El Pinto. El Pinto uses chile from Hatch, NM, dryland beans from CO, healthy sunflower oil for frying, Celtic sea salt for seasoning, and local ingredients when in season.

It has been featured on Food Network, Travel Channel and the BBC among other places.

I reserved an area for my brothers birthday, and invited the rest of the family. It turned out to be a very pleasant gathering. Good job El Pinto!

Nicole was our server; she was kind, knowledgeable and provided excellent service. My father and I were blessed to dine in the Garden Room. Incredible restaurant; delicious food!

Good food, good service, nice & cozy atmosphere. Other than a cold breez blowing onto our table from a poorly sealed window, this place and overall experience was great.

We don't go to El Pinto very often but when we do we absolutely love it. This has become our go-to for all our family birthday celebrations. The food is great and their chile, both red and green are the best in town IMO, and the Margaritas, just the best. Even the house blend with fresh lime juice is awesome. You definitely have to plan ahead and make reservations, or you'll be waiting a long time. I'm grateful that they sat us before our whole party arrived. Allowed us to enjoy a drink and guacamole.

Everything about the service was excellent. The food, however, was not up to El Pinto's previous standards. My red chili pork stuffed sopapillas were not hot--spice or stove-wise--and were soggy. El Pinto has great ambiance, but the food is not representative of New Mexican cuisine. Their prices do not compare favorably with other New Mexican food establishments in Albuquerque.

El Pinto is truly a great place to go for any special occasion. It is even good without a special occasion. They take super good care of you, and the food is A+/4 star. My wife and I have been here on several occasions and will be back again. You can bet on it.

Far off the beaten path and worth it. The guacamole is an absolute must order. The salsa is stellar.

Service was incredibly fast, even on a busy holiday. Our waiter (Hunter) was quick and attentive. My food was excellent, my partner didn't care as much for hers. Great options if you like your food spicy!

Was a bit unsure of Prime Rib at a restaurant with known good Mexican food but it was great, and reasonably priced. A nice Valentine's dinner

El Pinto is my favorite place to get New Mexican food. The atmosphere is beautiful and service is great. Food is grown locally, green chili is from Hatch and roaster in site. Flowers and plants are great atmosphere complete with a water fall at entrance. I recommend El Pinto for every day dining and for special occasions.

The tortillas on my enchilada were dry and not enough child sauce no taste at all. What happened to the other cook????? I loved this place but now I won't go back. The chips were greasy and thick the hot sauce is always good But we didn't care for the food. It upset my tummy

Despite the large number of people this restaurant can seat, food is served quickly . Server was attentive but didn't hover. Food has been exceptionally good the three times that we have eaten there. I highly recommend it. There are fireplace rooms for the winter and out door seating in spring to fall is wonderful

The wait staff was excellent throughout the meal. The food was another thing altogether. I asked for hot green choke as did others in our party, it was the blandest and plain tasting as I have ever had. No flavor and no heat. The whole meal was just bland. Very disappointed. I have eaten there many times in the past and food was always good. Not this time. To have paid this much for dinner, I would have expected more than tasting like a cheap TV dinner.
