Nestled in the cottonwoods, El Pinto was founded with 10 tables in 1962. Twin brothers John and Jim Thomas, carry on the family tradition and have expanded El Pinto into the quintessential "Spot" for healthy and fresh New Mexican cuisine. Experience an authentic Taste of New Mexico.
The Salsa Twins are pairing tradition with innovative healthy nutrition at El Pinto. El Pinto established the first and only Animal Welfare Approved laying hen program on property. 250 hens lay pasture raised eggs for daily use. An onsite green house produces over 5,000 lbs of organically grown greens.
Freshness is throughout El Pinto. El Pinto uses chile from Hatch, NM, pasture raised pork from Kyzer Farms, and local grass fed beef.

Great food and service!
Food was awful. Ordered eggs Benedict eggs were like hard boiled not soft boiled. Biscuit was dry & very heavy. Very bland. Don’t order it!!!
Michael Scott was our server and he was fantastic. We will go back!
Went for brunch, it was amazing. I loved the atmosphere, we had a great waiter. No complaints.
El Pinto is gorgeous! Such a beautiful restaurant! My server was absolutely fantastic! But, the prices have risen significantly over the years and the portions of food you receive has gone down significantly as well. I haven't lived in NM in thirteen years, but, for items to go up a good $8.00 at least, is quite the price hike, and to have the portions not be close to what you used to receive, made it a letdown. I understand people have to keep up with supply and demand, but, there are SO many places in NM that I can go to where I can get a fantastic and huge meal for far less than the $22 I spent on myself alone at El Pinto.
Wish I remembered our servers name she was very good! Love El Pintos always!
Beautiful setting, large patio area, gracious waitress. Food was disappointing.
Expensive for the quality of food which was fair, but patio was excellent.
Stephanie was a delight!! Amazing food and atmosphere!!
The best place in Albuquerque for the big 3s- ambiance, outdoor dining, and great service. Hands down El Pinto is the most beautiful and scenic restaurant in Albuquerque. I'm sorry to say that the chips they buy from Bueno are horrible. I miss having fresh tasting chips. Otherwise, the food was great.
We love El Pinto and are frequent diners. We purchased a half pitcher of margaritas and barely noticed any tequila. This is happened before and we have mentioned it to Desiree as well as previous servers but we keep running into this problem. It didn’t used to be this way.
Ambiance is always nice and food is good. The ribs were tasty along with the Rib-eye steak. A little on the pricy side for what you get.
The entertainment that night was excellent.
Fabulous restaurant - perfect for COVID dining. Best part of the restaurant is their breezy, treed patio so plenty of space for safe dining. Food was wonderful - thank you for a great evening.
Outstanding! Atmosphere on patio is wonderful! Food and drinks were yummy! And Brittany our server despite being her 3 day was fabulous and knowledgeable.
Wonderful service. - food was delish! Atmosphere outstanding
Excellent service and atmosphere! Good, authentic Mexican food.
Good ambiance and food. Satisfactory service and overall good experience.
Food was good but pricey.
Love El Pinto!
Felt very safe that they were taking COVID precautions without feeling awkward or too distanced from others. Yay El Pinto!
We feel this is the best patio in New Mexico. We always enjoy our time at El Pinto
Great food, service by Ryan was super.
Beautiful setting! Love the outdoor terraces. The menu is extensive. Their chili con carne is so flavorful and tender. Love the hot red sauce!
We have always been pleased with the food at El Pinto, however, it was not good this visit. Stuffed sops were awful and we only ate a partial of one. food was cold and very little chili but we ordered addl side of chili. Pinto beans had no flavor. As this was our first bad experience in 20 years, we'll come back again assuming just one of those mishaps.
My wife and I come to the Albuquerque area 3 to 4 times a year and always spend one evening dining at El Pinto. We love everything about El Pinto-service, food, and atmosphere are always the BEST! El Pinto has been our favorite restaurant in the Albuquerque area for more than 30 years and we will continue to support this amazing restaurant every time we are in Albuquerque!! We highly recommend El Pinto to everyone who wants to dine at a five star restaurant!
El Pinto has become my family's home away from home during the covid outbreak. The patio is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a meal. Love the food!
Out of 5 lunches one not good. The fish tacos hardly any fish
This is the perfect place! Good food great ambiance. A little pricey but worth it!
Delicious nachos! Our waiter, Stephen, was attentive and friendly. Eating out on the patio was so relaxing and made our experience enjoyable.
We chose El Pinto to celebrate a special family occasion. We had 9 in our party. Nearly every meal order was incorrect. We had waited so long we just ate what was served. The food quality was extremely poor- plain, dry, with items left off. It was a very disappointing.
We had a great server who was very apologetic and the managers ultimately comped the meals that were messed up.
We felt service was not experienced. We had no exta plates for chips and salsa. No extra plates for fried bread.
Did not have chance to order appertiers.
Fantastic ribeye steak! Yes, the New Mexican food is great too, but the steak was a real surprise
Standard Mexican fare, nothing special. Small portions, overpriced.
This was my first venture to eat out during the Pandemic. It was a great experience.
Wonderful place. Eat outside if the weather is nice. Fantastic atmosphere.
Good food and good service environment was inviting
It’s our favorite place!!!
My husband and I took some friends out for a birthday lunch. When entering, hostess was very friendly and the water fountain was beautiful. We were sat outside near the front of the building. Once we sat down we were captivated by the smell of fresh roasted green chili, which was taking place at the front entrance. Our group of 6 loved each of our meals as well as our drinks. Thank you El Pinto for making a birthday lunch a little more memorable.
We have always loved El Pinto. They were the first New Mexican food we ate. They were also part of the reason we decided to move to NM. LOVE IT.
Never disappointed in El Pinto’s. We love the patio dining and margaritas and the meal was perfect.
