Very poor service. Rigid and non understanding staff. I specifically mentioned this was a special occasion. We very not made to feel special. Requested a table change change since they gave us a table tightly fitted between two tables. Staff was not willing to listen or change despite the fact that 80% of the tables were empty.
If you are interested in wonderful interior mexican food in a very nice setting with great service, this is the restaurant that you want to go to.
Service was great. We loved the ceviche, margaritas, crab tostadas, and cute little complimentary chibatta bites. It was very noisy, and the mole portions were pretty small for the price.
Great customer service and amazing food!
Food was amazing. Drinks were also spot on. Spent a special evening celebrating. Don’t miss it.
Had a wonderful Saturday Brunch on the first taste of fall day in Austin. Great service and unforgettable Oaxacan Cusine.
Loved this place. Food was excellent and service was really good. Will return.
This was our first visit. The cocktails and food were outstanding.
Great food, really great food! Lots of great appetizers make up a full meal!
If you want authentic Mexican food, you need to try El Naranjo. I love the enchiladas verdes, and make sure to come early and try the Conchas, definitely the best I ever had including the ones in Mexico, no kidding.
Went for dinner for restaurant week only to find out that was for lunch only.
One of the martinis (desert sour or something like that) sounded good from the description, however it tasted like liquid smoke. No mention of "smoked" in the description.
Saturday Brunch was delicious! We had a very large group....took the entire front dining area to seat us! Waitstaff was wonderful.....very attentive! Hibiscus tea was very good. I had the omelet and my husband had Carne Guisada.....both were very good! The Pan Dulce was awesome.....so tender! The Bacon was delicious! A real gem on this street of small restaurants!
The best quesadillas see ever ate! And the sangria was superb. A perfect place for lunch or special occasion fine, authentic Mexican dining. Highly recommend this initiate dining experience.
Special time with special friends and awesome food. Will return.
The queso fundido was as advertised---awesome! The mole' was outstanding. The service is outstanding! I highly recommend El Naranjo.
Best concha ever! Excellent service and food and Bloody Mary. Construction was noisy but all the rest was great.
Excellent service (Dustin), and wonderful food. I had the braised short ribs with goat cheese mashed potatoes (very tasty). My wife had the shrimp with a jicama-pineapple slaw that was also fantastic. Based on an online recommendation, we started with fundido, and we were not disappointed. This place is a real find for us. We will dine there again... hopefully soon. Thank you El Naranjo!
Amazing Authentic Food. Everything was fantastic especially the Pastel Azteca. I had a filet special that was out of this world and my friend had a short rib dish that fell apart with just a fork. It was amazing. They also have the best chicharrons I have ever had in my life. Wish I could go more often.
This is a fantastic interior Mexican food experience. The server was extremely knowledgeable about the items on the menu and helped us navigate finding a variety of plates to share among the table. The food was exceptional! The ceviche we had at the start of the meal was one of the best I’ve ever had, and all the various foods that followed did not disappoint. The house crafted cocktails were all interesting, tasty, and well prepared. The head chef, Iliana, came to our table to check on how everything was, and we got to grab a photo with her. We will definitely be returning!
Great cocktails, nice place for brunch . Would recommend
OUTSTANDING!! Creative, authentic Mexican food & Mole! A MUST when you are in Austin!
I loved that the Chef came out from the kitchen and greeted people she knew. What a nice genuine touch 😘
We had a great birthday lunch with our son who turned 21. Food is a delight.
The food was delicious and the service impeccable!
Food was at best ok, not great. Expensive Mole dish was brown sauce, a cup of rice and my piece of pork. No vegetables or texture. Waiter would repeat the name of the dish with a strong accent as an explanation of the dish and acted bothered that we needed more information. Spicy dishes were not very spicy or flavorful and had to ask for two cups of their habanero sauce. Definitely not the food I would expect for an upscale Mexico City restaurant in Austin Texas and would not recommend it.
Took 30 minutes to get seated even with a reservation. Food was sub par. Drinks were good. Would never go back
Delicious meal, very attentive staff
Nice ambiance. Food had some good flavors that you won't find in every-day mexican food. One negative was that the coffee was absolutely terrible; didn't fit with the restaurant at all. Otherwise very good dining experience for a date night.
Tables are close. Very easy to overhear others' conversations. Food OK.... authentic Mexican food which was nice but expensive and not as rich in flavor as I had hoped for the price.
Had a birthday brunch there, it was all of our first time there and we had a pleasent experience. From the service to the food. Everything was great!
Great dining experience. Unique setting, great service, and interesting menu options. Selections had a great depth of flavor.
El Naranjo is a superior Mexican restaurant that offers a sophisticated approach to familiar and less well-known dishes. Their moles are especially good. I’d recommend trying a variety of the botanas and antojitos and perhaps skip the cross-over entrees that combine mole and familiar hunks of protein (nicely done however). The Al Pastor tacos and enchiladas with mole coloradito were especially good. The ceviche changes fish from time to time but was excellent this visit, based on yellowfin tuna.
Get the mole with duck breast!
Great service, great food. My favorite restaurant in ATX.
One of Austin's best restaurants overall and hands down the best mexican food in town. Try the moles, they're outstanding! They also have the best tortillas in town, home made from scratch, which is very unusual for corn.
Everyone was pleased- even the vegan in our party. I enjoyed the mole very much. It was not too loud. Also in a cool neighborhood.
As always, this place proves to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in Austin. The Ceviche de la semana is always a great choice. Delicious food and great service!
The food was amazing, we went to ATX the next night , it was okay but made us realize how good this pace is. Wish it was in my town
