El Naranjo is an Austin, TX restaurant that is proud to serve up high quality, fresh Mexican cuisine that has an authentic traditional favor. You can always find something interesting on the menu and those who visit often will find that it changes regularly.
Some of the typical items you will find on the menu at El Naranjo include guacamole, empanadas, ceviche and camarones al chrimole. You can also enjoy a variety of different types of tacos. In addition, you can enjoy the homemade moles, all of which are made from scratch. You can choose from pork chop, duck breast and other items. El Naranjo is the place to dine for authentic flavor.
Awesome food, great service, and fun atmosphere. A bit loud at times, but still reasonable. Will definitely go again.
el Naranjo is my restaurant of choice if I want to impress a friend with the sophistication of Austin culinary innovations. Iliana de la Vega brings the amazingly delicious dishes of historical Oaxacan cuisine and skillfully adds creative and delightful local touches to make a wonderfully memorable experience every time we dine there. Could not recommend a restaurant more highly.
Fresh and flavorful - everything is clearly made with high-quality ingredients, and the servers know the menu well (including being able to make recommendations for those with dietary restrictions). Much of the menu is naturally gluten-free, so it is a great place for people with celiac.
Food was exceptional. Service was also great. I would suggest this for dinner or drinks.
Best ceviche in Austin! Great service with informed waiter that offered excellent recommendations. It's one of my go to places when I visit.
Mexican Martini and ceviche very good. The sea bass was bland and the spices on everything else were not at all good. Everyone at our table of four was greatly confused and disappointed. We usually go to Azul Tequila and get outstanding meals at half the price. Will not eat at El Naranjo again.
Excellent menu with many choices for someone like me who has celiac disease. The wait person was very knowledgeable about my condition and if she was uncertain about a particular food item she doubled checked with the chef and kitchen staff. Will definitely be back!
This is my go-to for authentic interior Mexican food. Chef Ileana's mole and ceviche are outstanding, as is everything I've tried on the menu. The restaurant is in an inviting house and beautiful, artful photographs taken in Mexico adorn the walls. I've been there for dinner and weekend brunch, and I understand they are now open during part of the week for lunch. One of the best restaurants in Austin.
Fantastic on every level. Amazing drinks, fantastic service by Jordan and hands down BEST Mexican food we have EVER had in this country. Not to be missed!
The food was awesome and authentic. It was not Tex-Mex. Everything we ordered, from the ceviche to the mole dishes, was excellently prepared. Our service was also wonderful. Our waiter was exceptionally well informed and helpful, and the location on Rainey street is one of our favorite spots in Austin.
Excellent, authentic Oxacan food and margaritas. Great people who welcome you with a smile and take pride in their attentive service. It’s a casual atmosphere but the food is seriously good, every time.
Fist time at El Naranjo, it was a treat! Food excellent, guacamole was amazing. As as added bonus, we sat in the back patio and got to hear the live music next door. Really fun place!!
Excellent service and the food was exquisite!! Highly recommend this restaurant. Authentic Mexican cuisine.
Never disappoints. The staff, the food, the drinks, all top-notch, every time.
First time. Excellent food and excellent service. Will be back soon
Fabulous food, I highly recommend the ribs. The mole was great but the ribs we absolutely outstanding.
Upscale interior Mexican. Best outside of Mexico itself. Fine service, fair prices. And they are starting lunch service again.
It was outstanding. The flavors were nuanced and delicious. Every single person in our party enjoyed everything.
Specifically went because we heard they were serving huitlacoche. The ingredient was used in their empanadas. They were awesome. The rest of the food was also spectacular. We love how the chef always comes out and speaks to her customers. Love dining here for special dinners.
Good fun, relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, stray cats.
Would eat there again.
The ambiance and service were excellent. The food was very enjoyable and fresh. Would recommend highly for a nice night out.
This is the most underrated restaurant in Austin. I take ALL my visitors here and at the end of the day, it’s everyone’s favorite experience and food. The service is also exceptional. Very well trained.
Service was slow. I asked if what I ordered was spicy waitress said not at all. Was so spicy I couldn’t eat it. Ordered dessert and she came back and said it was reserved for someone else.
Terrific food and service. Parking can be an issue.
Thanks for the terrific food opportunity.
Great meal, great everything
Super friendly staff and great food (the ceviche was amazing). I plan to go back soon, as the other food I saw go to neighboring tables looked pretty tasty. I even got to say hi to the cat who frequents the place...so cute!
Being a big fan of brunch, I was excited to try this place after looking at the menu. El Naranjo was conveniently located for an event we were going to, however we should have chose something that would have been better. The food was overpriced and under-whelming, my eggs were overcooked and my boyfriends meal was just eggs scrambled with tomatoes. Much better places to have brunch in Austin.
Omg the food is so good
A little bit cold inside
The food and service were amazing. The noise level was high, so at times it was hard to hear the conversation at our table. Other than that minor distraction, it was great!
I went back here for my wife’s BD brunch. The guacamole appetizer was awesome. I had the cracklings which were in an amazing verse sauce. Spivey but not over the top. The margarita was excellent. Their Bloody Mary was a bit bland for me. Service was great as before. Friendly, quick service with great knowledge of the plates.
Fantastic food and service. Seating arrangement is crowded.
The food was exceptional, creative and authentic. The mole was fantastic. Our waitress was helpful and made great recommendations for our large group. We never felt rushed.
Excellent interior Mexican food. Wide range of choices for dining and good cocktail list.
I drive from San Antonio! The food and the staff are amazing!
El Naranjo never disappoints. We love to take new comers to Austin to eat there because the food is always delicious and the service is great. I have tried all the moles and they are complex and very tasty. The short ribs and the steak tacos were also great. They have lots of gluten free options so everyone will be happy.
Don’t miss the queso fundito and have a margarita to start.
Great food in a cool old building. The dining is done in rooms of an 30's style building. The decor is minimal showing the original features of the building.
The owners have thought well about the experience and have sound absorbing materials in the rooms so you can have a pleasant conversation without having to shout.
The mains were very well done.
The deserts were a disappointment. We ordered two tres leche cakes and the cake portions of the dish were too dry. The almond flour chocolate tart was also too dry to be enjoyable.
This was our first time at the restaurant. Everything we ate was excellent, the flavoring unique, great presentation, fabulous service. The only downside is that our parking cost $15. We have never dined on Rainey street for this reason. El Naranjo is definitely worth visiting.
My S.O and i just came back from visiting CDMX and were desperate for some molé and a fine dining experience. El Naranjo delivered! I've never felt so wined and dined in my life.
