El Naranjo is an Austin, TX restaurant that is proud to serve up high quality, fresh Mexican cuisine that has an authentic traditional favor. You can always find something interesting on the menu and those who visit often will find that it changes regularly.
Some of the typical items you will find on the menu at El Naranjo include guacamole, empanadas, ceviche and camarones al chrimole. You can also enjoy a variety of different types of tacos. In addition, you can enjoy the homemade moles, all of which are made from scratch. You can choose from pork chop, duck breast and other items. El Naranjo is the place to dine for authentic flavor.
The food at El Naranjo is fine, but not anything special. As such it is way, way over-priced.
This restaurant has very good food. Everything was was excellent. The problem is that Rainey St is a disaster. And that spills into the restaurant. It was so loud in there we could barely speak to each other. I enjoyed the food, but I’ll probably never go back because of the unfortunate location.
Pretty good for the first time, definitely going back to try more dishes..
I have dined there more than once and there has been a consistency of high quality and tasteful cocktails and meals and terrific service. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is the second time that I have visited El Naranjo. The first time was excellent. Our server was informative and enthusiastic. However this time our server was not good. We ordered 3 small plates at his recommendation. Two of the 3 were great. One of the items came out cold. When he came by to check on us, I told him everything tasted great but one item was cold. He just responded. Oh, ok and moved on. Weird. The happy hour priced queso fundido , guacamole, and margaritas is a great deal. Prices at Naranjo are high, food good, but I expect better service if I'm going to spend the money. Will try a different spot on my next visit to Austin
Great food and the mole was as amazing as they said! We sat on the back patio and was so awesome!!
An hour before I received my food - eggs.....and 20 minutes before a drink got to my table of 2. Not coming back.
Great food and service. We had excellent suggestions and shared several different dishes. All were wonderful.
Great food, excellent service and nice atmospher. Our waiter offered us a pleasant experience.
We had lunchtime small plates for sharing. The cheviche was outstanding! The tostada base of the crab tostada was tough. The tamarindo margaritas were excellent. Highly recommended for a splurge lunch,
Excellent dinner spot. Three kinds of mole sauce are the house specialty. Waiter was great—- explaining each dish and offering excellent recommendations. We will be back!
Joshua was a fantastic server. Great breakfast menu and we look forward to going back for dinner. Can’t wait. Highly recommend this place. Chill vibe and energetic surroundings. Cool place to spend the day or evening.
Fantastic drinks and food! Waiter knew his menu like a chef.
Ate a lovely meal with the grandkids
All together a great meal, sorta wish the quest fundido was bigger because it was that delicious. The entrees were huge could barely finish mine
We had an awesome meal and probably the best service I have ever had in any restaurant, simply awesome!
Fabulous food and service. Excellent mole and pibil.
Don’t miss this wonderful food experience
This is the 3rd time i visit and the service is getting worse, it seems like it is improvised and not professional, food preparation was great and now it is just ok. Still a good option for Mexican, but just not the best, crispy tacos still great.
Excellent food, very delicious, real mexican flavor.
Really great interior Mexican... definitely would recommend.
Fabulous, authentic food. A lovely reprieve from the louder streets of Austin.
This wasn’t a pleasant Sunday brunch experience. We had a reservation and were quickly sit down with very little welcoming. The main dining room was warm with customers sweating. It took about 30 mins for the place to cool. It took our sever almost 12 minutes to finally address us, returned with water 4 mins later, and he felt rushed with us. We had asked for one concha each (5 of us) and he came back with one. The food (eggs, tortillas, beans, and potatoes) took over an hour to come to our table. We were never asked for additional tortillas or breads, even though our baskets (and water glasses) sat empty for awhile. It wasn’t actually very packed, must have been something with kitchen. I appreciate the food here, but service was very subpar. We could tell other customers were getting frustrated. I’m a regular, but shall have to explore other places with interior Mexican.
best place ever! we love el naranjo
The food is always wonderful and the staff is friendly and professional.
Amazing authentic Mexican food!!! Liliana was our server and she was so kind. The chef even came out and said hello to us! Will definitely come back next time we’re in Austin!
Food was excellent. Service could have been better.
Some of the best Interior Mexican food I have ever enjoyed. Can’t wait to go back again.
Great experience sampling a great menu of tasty choices
Most excellent. Very authentic, high quality. We had Michelada’s, Chips, mole, fish tacos, chilequilles (sp?), black beans (both), flan. All items where knocked out of the park awesomeness.
Ridiculously loud. Two Large parties stuffed in the room with us.
Went there with high expectations due to reputation of chef and other reviews. Pricy and very mediocre is what I would say about both the presentation and quality of both appetizers and entrees. I definitely don't recommend the chile rellenos (which is one of my favorite foods). Flavors were interesting and original, but texture (rellenos were soggy and seemed steamed) and very unappetizing in appearance. Unfortunately, the tres leeches cake was not moist enough. Overall, very disappointing.
First time to El Naranjo. I thought the food was excellent. Ordered the Sea Bass with curry. Thought it would be more flavorful. It was a cooked perfectly but was a little bland for my liking. The guacamole and queso fundido were wonderful and the bread plate delicious. Margarita was average. Atmosphere was nice and the server was very attentive and gave great food descriptions. Will definitely return
Very good food. Reservation was easy to make online and we were seated quickly upon arrival. The food was authentic mexican dishes very different from the usual Tex-Mex offerings at a Mexican restaurant. Would visit again.
Absolutely innovative Mexican restaurant. Wonderful moles.
We visited El Naranjo for Easter brunch—five of us, friends and relatives. Everyone agreed that it was terrific. Alex, our server, gave good advice and took fine care of us. The service in general was excellent even on this very, very busy day. Food—well, if you like Oaxacan food you’ll love this menu. Appetizers—housemade corn tortillas, guacamole, queso were plenty to share. My huevos Benedictos were a fine combination of a spicy but not too spicy sauce (and they are willing to give you all sauces on the side), beautifully poached egg, and pork. Everything was beautifully done—the flourless chocolate almond cake was moist, light and delicious. Wonderful!
Best Mexican Restaurant in Austin
Great location and service. Amazing Mexican Craft Beer and sparkling water he
The mole is over the top. Very authentic in every way. Great margaritas to boot.
Excellent service and interesting flavors. Pork served with a great mole was way undercooked.
