The El Gaucho is the first and oldest Argentinian restaurant in Germany.
For more than 50 years in Cologne we have been preparing our guests real Argentinian sprue steaks on the open grill in the middle of our restaurant and steakhouse. Watch and enjoy our Argentinian specialties like the gauchos in the pampas.

Geschmeckt hat es wirklich gut. Danach fragte der Kellner auch ziemlich oft. Als Vorspeise kamen für meinen Mann die zwei Würste lieblos auf dem Teller daher. Ich hatte die Champignons. Bei beiden Vorspeisen gab es eben NUR Würste und Champignons. Scheinbar gehörte das Brot zur Vorspeise. Dieses wurde aber erst zum Hauptgang gebracht, obwohl wir eine Backkartoffel und Pommes hatten. Der Spinat als Beilage war leider nur lauwarm. Insgesamt alles in allem sehr teuer. Aber die Qualität unserer Filetsteaks war super und beides kam so gebraten an den Tisch, wie wir es bestellt hatten (medium und medium rare).

Leider hat die Qualität des Restaurants stark nachgelassen. Mein letzter Besuch vor über 13 Jahren im alten Geschäft war noch von echtem Charme geprägt. Nach dem Umzug wirkt alles sehr abgenutzt und ungepflegt. Das Personal scheint desinteressiert und beschäftigt sich lieber mit seinen Handys am Tresen. Auf den Toiletten fehlen sowohl Handtücher als auch Desinfektionsmittel. Auch die Qualität des Brotes hat abgenommen, und die Kräuterbutter ist geschmacklos. Die Preissteigerung für das 420g-Filetsteak ist mit über 100 Prozent seit 2012 (jetzt 64,00 €) völlig überzogen und das Gericht seinen Preis nicht wert. Das Restaurant hat eher den Charakter Altstadt:(
