Vibrant and interesting, the whole experience feels "curated" but not overthought- so it is not pretentious or trying to hard, but manages to be very creative, interesting and not like any other place I have been to in the past couple of years. I have dined in San Francisco, Portland, Wash DC, NY, Houston, Austin, ect. too. The wine options are extensive and well picked for the venue. I had the Turkish pizza, very rich- defintely split with others because only a few bites are needed. We also had the Dungeness Crab which was a nice pair with it bc it was so light and refreshing. The carrots where my favorite dish funny enough, I could have had two plates of those. The views of the Denver Skyline are amazing- I forgot what a beautiful city we live in. Wonderful night.
Wonderful service!!! Thank you!!
Fine Food with beautiful views!! and the cocktails were so tasty!
Everything was wonderful, great food! Only disappointment was the desserts, they could be more creative. The desserts we ordered were very dry...
Amazing as always!!! Loved the sangrias, dips and seafood paella. Thanks for always providing a delicious experience.
General: Came here for our anniversary. We checked in downstairs and were told that they had reserved a corner window table for us.. Got seated somewhere else. No big deal. Still had a great view. Service was fine.. But waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed with the number of tables he was serving. They did bring us a small amount of champagne though.. That was nice.
Food: drinks and tapas were great. Very tasty and unique. However, We are vegetarian and ordered the vegetarian paella.. Not sure whether quinoa really works instead of a good bomba or arborio rice. Not a lot of flavor as compared to the other dishes. No hint of saffron.
Lastly.. We ordered turkish coffee. Came out looking great in a beautiful finjan.. But the coffee was not turkish coffee (ultra fine ground ..almost like mud which settles at the bottom of the cup.. Thick and Intense! Usually sweetened). What we got seemed like regular unsweetened black coffee with some large grounds added to the bottom. I was disappointed.
Overall: Ok experience, but not over the top. Outside seating in the summer might be much better.. Might try again then.
Bummed we had no view. Food was good but extremely small portions. Drinks were very good. Service was very good. Prices seemed high for good food with no view.
The gal at the elevator was incredibly rude. Almost soured the entire experience. Also the table that we had was awful - crammed into a table for 4 but with 5 people.
Our server, Ben was very pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was absolutely fantastic! The tapas were fun and flavorful and the paella was the best we've had outside of Spain. We will definitely return as often as possible!
Great tapas and paella. We shared four tapas between two people and it was just right. The atmosphere is fun and lively. Service was great.
Fabulous!!! Went for my birthday and couldn’t be happier with my choice. Potions are generous as far as tapas go. Flavor of food was great and the view was awesome
Amazing views. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Service was top notch!
Best restaurant with a view in Denver. Staff was great and the ambiance was quite good. Definitely recommend.
We went to El Five for brunch on Jan. 6. There were 5 of us. We were not informed by the website or anywhere else that the brunch was prix-fix $42 per person, so we awkwardly found out when we were seated at our table. I guess if someone is really prepared to pig out, it might be a deal because a pinchos appetizer bar is included in the price. Also, there a few drinks listed and one is included in the price.
One person in our party wasn't drinking, so she lost out, but the Bloody Mary must have had a tablespoon of alcohol in it because I couldn't taste or feel a thing from it. Why skimp on the alcohol at a $42 price for brunch? We should be told about the price ahead of time!
The views were very nice, I'm sure even better at night. Our server was very patient and attentive.
Food, view, wait staff, all of it - amazing! One of my new favorite places
Amazing restaurant! We will be returning for our date nights. Everything was perfect, wine, meal and atomosphere
This place has a great view coupled with very good food all at reasonable prices. Dont miss out.
Sat at the chefs table. Actually had a very good conversation with two of the staff. Tried three tapas. Dungeness Crab, Hanger Steak, and the Turkish Pizza. All were very good, but the Turkish Pizza was outstanding.
Food was delicious and had big portions for tapas. Dishes could have been staggered out a little better. Felt like food was delivered out too quickly. There were too many plates on the table and not enough room to enjoy.
Excellent tapas! And the view is amazing. Service and cocktails were okay, not spectacular. However, we’ll definitely return for food and view.
stunning views and stunning attentive knowledgable service and tastes
WOW! Great food, Phenomenal view and fund drinks!
Great! Awesome New Years menu. New favorite spot, best views in Denver
Went for the pre-fixe menu on NYE. Would not recommend for that. We like this place, but this was a very poor value. Very expensive for such average food / portions. Actually disappointed in food options they had available. We will go back, but probably not for dinner. Drinks are great and bar scene/ with views is nice.
Thank you for seating us sun a city view table and making our new year eve magical
Beautiful view of the city! Food wasn’t exceptional but you can’t beat the ambiance.
The staff food service were amazing. Bottom line awesome place to go. We had brunch, great value cool vibe
We booked weeks in advance and requested a city view table for a special occasion. While I appreciate that this is not always guaranteed, I would expect this to be accommodated having booked so far in advance. We waited 15 minutes for a table and were accommodated by having 2 tables joined at the rear of the restaurant. Otherwise, the food was great.
There's a good reason the employee turn over rate is so low at El Five, enough said.
I went solo and sat at the bar where they put together the mezze and desserts. The people behind the bar were so friendly and helpful it was a great experience. Beyond the service, the food was great. I got the Turkish pizza which wasn't quite a pizza but was my favorite dish of the night though nothing I had was less thhan delicious.
Nothing beats the views of El Five. I simply love this place and enjoy bringing out of town visitors to see the amazing places Denver has to offer. The tapas are unusual but delicious. Not a fan of the pistachio ice cream, though. Something savory in it threw off that offering. But the cauliflower dish was wonderful.
El Five provides caring service, high quality ingredients, and spectacular views of Denver--particularly if you manage to make it onto their deck overlooking the city. My apricot cocktail was delicious. That said, we didn't love the food--which seemed fussy and contrived in some instances and insufficiently thought out in others. Why is Spain's famous serrano ham served as a tiny heap of oily shreds? It would be better in the traditional style, sliced thin, with crusty bread, salt and olive oil. The bread is a simple addition but was greatly missed. A vegetarian plate with hummus tasted good but was a confusing mess with different purees and unidentifiable minced items. Why not serve a mound of fresh hummus with traditional Spanish specialties, such as (whole!) olives and roasted peppers? We are not toddlers and don't need our food minced. Our seafood paella featured a funky seafood odor, lots of rice and a sprinkling of seafood on top--all for a very hefty price. We left unsatisfied. With few green vegetables and no bread, it just didn't feel like a balanced meal.
Way too pretentious. Exactly what you would expect in the try hard city of Denver. Still a city craving the right people and just not getting them, especially those with a keen understanding of what makes a restaurant good, respectable, and noteworthy - without coming off as non-authentic, and overdone yet half baked.
The only disappointment was dessert - it was not on par with the rest of the meal. In particular, the creme fraiche was overly salty and savory. Everything else was outstanding.
It was our anniversary. The waitress was very gracious in her congratulations and another person offered us a tapas plate on the House. It was the fish and as delicious!
Although we were the second customers to enter the restaurant after it opened at 5, our request for a window table was not honored. When initially being seated we even asked if we could sit near the window yet were only offered a table in the row across from the window tables (even through all the window tables were open except one). Then we watched as other customers were seated at the windows. Very frustrating, it was clear that we could have sat at the window as others coming in asked to be reseated as well and were given the window. We weren't about to make a scene after having asked once but I guess we needed to in order to get proper service.
Best view in Denver! Amazing food, great service! Best Christmas Eve dinner, I will be going back for sure....I just hope I get the same table, it was the best view in the house!
Outstanding food. Would definitely go back. Great Christmas Eve celebration with family.
Excellent food, great service. We had 2 Paellas the seafood and the sausage, both excellent and a couple tapas for four people. Perfect amount of food. The view of the city is wonderful and our service was on point.
