Coffee Experience

Belmond El Encanto's signature coffee. The journey took us to renowned plantations in Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ethiopia and Kenya. Our focus was to craft a one-of-a-kind blend with these prized coffee beans, and lovingly infuse it with indulgent flavors to provide Belmond El Encanto guests with a coffee experience far beyond exceptional. Each of the meticulously selected origin coffees, extraordinary in their own right, possessed characteristics nurtured by an ideal combination of growing conditions including soil, altitude, precipitation, sunlight and shade, just to name a few. In our equivalent of a test kitchen, Trinidad Coffee Company's master roaster called upon his decades of blending and roasting experience, and in true artisan fashion, honed and refined the Belmond El Encanto blend into a symphony of nuances, notes and flavors. The hand-selected cast of characters is led by a micro-lot Guatemalan coffee from the famed Antigua region. Renowned for its incredibly clean and crisp profile, it contributes a subtle fruitiness, notably Asian pear, to our blend. Continuing along this vein, we sought out a Kenya AA to bolster the subtle sweetness with hints of stone fruit. From neighboring Ethiopia we brought in an exquisite Yirgacheffe to infuse the blend with browned sugar depth, which is particularly developed in a darker roast. Back across the Atlantic, we uncovered in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica, the perfect element to create the viscous, caramelly and lively character that would deepen the cup. Finally, a Colombia Narino Supremo SS 17/18, with its classic balance, to tie all of these flavors together in perfect harmony, and melt them elegantly into a memorable finish. No knowledge by staff. 30 min to get drinks from bar. Another 30 min plus to even get water yo table after speaking to 3 people. Food so chewy it was inedible consistently over multiple attempts on both land and sea entrees. No liquor or wine available including bottom shelf that is their high end now on menu. Not the same experience it was by 1/10 as in spring of 2021.

This was the perfect place for a special Father's Day brunch. The bellini brunch, it was, with bottomless belinnis or mimosas. The food was delicious--three courses--with a variety of creative choices brought by attentive servers. There was soft guitar music. And all that doesn't even include the beautiful ocean view from the deck. Be sure to walk off a few of those brunch calories with a stroll through the gardens of this stunning Riviera property.

We chose El Encanto for a Sunday brunch graduation celebration. On the website, it is referred to as the Bellini Brunch. This was our first visit to El Encanto. The entire experience went well from the hostess stand through dessert. We arrived directly from the graduation 10 minutes late with one extra person not on the reservation. The hostess was welcoming and seated us immediately without question. The view of the Pacific from the terrace was beautiful. The only hiccup was that we were told they had run out of bellinis which half of our group had ordered. We pivoted to mimosas. Our server explained that she was covering for Eduardo until he could take care of us. I do not recall her name but she was that perfect combination of professional yet warm and friendly. We were passed off to Eduardo seamlessly. His service was also excellent. The starters were a delicious collection of several items for the table - heirloom tomatoes, smoked salmon, berries, special yoghurt, a mini pancake with quail egg and caviar etc. Each person selected a main menu item. We had crab cake Benedict and Brux waffles. Both were delicious. It is very nice to have a served brunch instead of going back and forth to the buffet. We each selected a dessert. The graduate’s chocolate cake with gold flakes was served with a wonderful sparkler candle, which was a big hit. Not only did the food and service create a lovely brunch, it also gave us a wonderful memory of celebrating our graduate.

One of the best restaurants in Santa Barbara. Great wait staff, servers, bar staff and musicians. I have been coming to the El Encanto for more than 35 years (actually proposed to my wife there in 1988). Though it has changed hands several times, I can honestly say that it continues to improve each time. Nothing in Santa Barbara compares to a delicious meal on the back patio!

We find the lunch menu limited, but there are a few things that bring us back besides the wonderful venue. These are the goat cheese and fig pizza, the Chinese chicken salad, and the burger. There really isn't anything else on the menu that we have found to be worthwhile. We love the setting on the terrace, and the service us usually good.

I had Mother’s Day brunch with my husband and twin 4 year olds here. I cannot say enough good things! The views and vibe are so high end without feeling stuffy. I felt comfortable being there with my littles while also feeling like I was having a 5 star experience:) The wait staff did special things to keep my little ones occupied and entertained! Food was great and the service was top notch. The coffee was AMAZING 10/10 recommend

Menu needs help. Food was okay, but not great. My martini wasn’t very cold. Service was okay, but waited a long time to get the check. Never was asked if I wanted another drink or a glass of wine. The tiramisu was actually awful. View and setting is spectacular. Nice live music.

Very disappointing dinner. Excellent service, but the entrees were underwhelming - both overcooked. Halibut was dry and filet was ordered medium rare and came out medium well. Drinks and the lemon desert outstanding. Hope it was an aberration as have had great past experiences there.

The service was exceptional! All my needs were anticipated and met in a way that made me feel safe and valued. They were attentive while being unobtrusive, a tricky balancing act, and I commend all the staff for pulling it off! The food was also delicious and fresh and well presented. Beautiful outdoor setting ruined by pounding music coming from ballroom below restaurant. Food service was super slow due to kitchen serving party of 130 people in ballroom. We were seated at a table right next to server station despite restaurant and deck being 3/4 empty when we arrived. Food was OK - expected better from a Belmond run property. A disappointing experience overall.

We arrived early for a birthday celebration on the piano and we’re seated immediately even though they weren’t quite open yet. Our flowers were gallantly take. To the table where the gentleman who has done many events organized the rose petals beautifully. Our waiter, lovely Alfred recommended favorite drinks and food and we LoVED our duck with the figs and starters. The birthday was topped off with a fire spouting chocolate piece of cake And lovely wishes fri. The wait staff and neighbors. It was a Magical evening made more so by a fabulous staff. We will return soon. Thank you.

Amazing ambiance. However, I felt the service was lacking. My server never came to check on me and I had to hunt someone down to pay my check. I eventually found someone named Lisa who wasn’t my waitress but she was more than willing to help me and was absolutely lovey. She really helped to salvage my experience and was so accommodating. Overall, good experience just an off day with service.

First, when my friend and I arrived at El Encanto, we enjoyed seeing our cruise ship in the distance. We walked about the property and took alot of pictures. We throughly enjoyed our glass of champagne and the very kind director of the restaurant! Our salad was so very delicious and we enjoyed eating on the terrace! I recommend this restaurant to all who are seeking a fine and relaxing dinning experience.

If they would increase the quality of the food it would be one of the best places in Santa Barbara. Ambiance and views are great, as was the service. Very romantic. Even so, the prices are steep for the mediocre quality of the food.
