Our server, Kay, was exceptional. She more than exceeded our expectations...I just wished the food did too. The paella was very dry.. The lemon half on the paella dish was so burnt that we could not tell what it was until we turned it over to deduce what it was. Looked much like a chunk of charcoal. Even the gentleman who dropped off our dishes noticed it and brought us back another lemon, which looked like it was just seconds away from looking like the first. I’m all for caramelizing lemons, even on a planxa, but this was ridiculously unusable. Having had paella in a number of different places and countries, can honestly say we would never order it from here again. The salmon dish was decent. The green salad, very salty.

The food was ok, but as I was eating, I noticed a large rock in the middle of my dish, which was upsetting. We told the waiter, who said this has happened before, and it probably fell out of the ceiling ( along with what else?). He brought over a free dessert and coffee, but no manager came over or made any attempt to replace/ comp my meal. We will not go back.

Sunday brunch. Second visit. Both times awesome. The tostada, while simple is not to be missed. Also had the smoked beets. Really tasty. Nice outdoor seating. Definitely recommend to sit outside as indoors can be noisy.

I've been disappointed with the food the last several visits. It was our guests' first time, and neither one was happy with their meal. The chicken was dry, the soup was bland, and the Paella was way too fishy. We all agreed that we won't be going back to the restaurant.

We went there to celebrate a friends birthday and were pleasantly surprised! Great food and wait staff were very attentive. I would go back here in a heart beat! The Carne Asada was off the hook good!

Probably one of the most contemporary and "handsome" decors in Sonoma. The place was bustling, but still very easy to carry on a conversation. Menu has changed since our previous visit and is more approachable than in the past. The risotto was the best we have ever had in a restaurant. I like that they also offer the "wine by the glass" by the "carafe".

Very pretty dining room. Good service, but the food was only so-so. The New York steak was really chewy. I did not enjoy it at all.

It’s yummy. However every time I walk in it smells like fish. Trust me when I say...when one walks into a restaurant it should smell inviting. I did not want to eat inside because of the odor. Just sauté some garlic with butter. Will permeate the whole place and make a big difference.

Had my birthday brunch here and everyone (4 of us) ordered something different and all the plates were clean when they left the table. French toast, crab cake Benedict, omelette and gnocchi. The preparation of the food is spot on, it is bright and flavorful and not leaving you bogged down with food. The desserts were a little odd for me, but personal preference.

We were disappointed with our main dishes, the scallops were a bit rubbery and not very tasty. Didn’t want to be negative so did not ask our guests about their meals.
The service was great and the patio was wonderful and it was a beautiful out so that saved the night.

We had a reservation for which we were late. They were kind enough to hold our table and I could not have been more happy. It was a Client/Business Meal as a thank you for a great project. This was the ideal place to go for dinner. The service was amazing, the food was great and it was quiet enough to relax and have a great dinner conversation. I was very happy with the restaurant choice and we all had a great time.

Had a dinner reservation for party of 12. Setup and seating was timely. Seated outside and it was perfect done this evening's weather was very pleasant. The outside ambience was just perfect. Underneath tent and hot lamps (although warm lamps weren't need).

Tonight the restaurant was overly packed and very busy. The food was nicely presented and everything was tasty. Service was a bit slow throughout the night. We had to remind the waiter and wiatstaff about the bread a few times.

Everything went well. My guests we all pleased with their food selection.

I always thought the wait staff should pour the water (which we were offered and then paid for), as well as any bottle of wine (not to mention one that cost $125!)

This was not the case.

Service poor :-(

Food great!!!

We came here for our anniversary and actually stayed at the adjoining El Dorado Hotel. Our stay wasn’t fantastic. We ate the wagyu beef carpaccio, a tuna tartare and ordered the paella to share. Needless to say everything was delicious. The paella was cooked on a cast iron pan which made the rice really crispy.

Drinks, service and ambience at this restaurant were all very nice. My starter was tasty as was my husband's starter and main, however my main wasn't great, definitely not worth $32. I had a seafood paella, the seafood was nicely cooked but the rice was over cooked. I attempted to feed this back to the server, however he told me this was how a paella is traditionally cooked. I've eaten many paellas before, several in Spain and I've certainly never had burnt rice throughout the paella before and if it was intentional I think they should rethink this cooking method.

First time visitors from Chicago and we were told we had to make time for El Dorado by local residents.
They were right.
Patio dining was comfortable and spacious, with table placement not being too close to others around you.
Very comfortable setting being outside.
Service was excellent, with professional courtesy personified.
Food was prepared timely and was delicious.
Historical location, with the connecting hotel, that tells a great story of it's history.
Highly recommend you eat at El Dorado if you are in Sonoma, and looking for decadent dining experience.

Lovely place, fine wait staff. My paella was poor, as the rice was crunchy (largely uncooked) with no liquid. Seemed such a shame, as it was only the rice disappointing. Seemed like the easiest piece to get right. Green salad seemed overly wilted. That could be me not understanding food.

I celebrated my birthday with a group of friends and had a fabulous experience! I’ve eaten at the El Dorado numerous times but never for brunch. Amazing menu and it was hard to make a selection. The waitress helped me out and I have to say, it was one of my favorite meals I’ve had there so far. I say so far, because I’ll be back!

This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that I dined at EDK and again it was disappointing. My grilled shrimp salad was awful. The shrimp were overdone, wooden & dry. The salad dressing was tasteless. The service was very slow and inattentive. This place is going downhill fast.

We visit this restaurant several times per year, usually for special occasions. The food is always excellent.
This last visit was for my husbands birthday and we were seated in a different area than usual. It was incredibly loud and we did not enjoy the atmosphere as much as usual. Next time we will request to be seated in the main dining room. As always, the food and service were superb.

We love this place! We first started coming in 2014 on our first visit to Sonoma. This year was for a 40th birthday celebration so we were able to bring my in-laws on the trip to celebrate. The food and service were amazing, still like the first time we came! We will definitely continue to make this one of our stops on our trips to wine country.
