Great oysters! Everything was tasty. We had the paella which was delicious and the seafood was cooked perfectly, however the rice was a little overcooked and stuck to the pan. Still good though. Frites and Brussels sprouts were awesome.
EDK has a great location right on the Sonoma Plaza and thats why its usually busy. The interior is pretty and the service is usually quite good. Sadly, the food has gone drastically downhill. We are locals and have not been back in six months because our last meal - with four other people was BAD. Literally, nobody enjoyed the food. But, we want to support our local restaurants and maybe the kitchen had a problem that night. We ate there November 16th and both our meals were really, really bad. My husband got a seafood pasta and the pasta in the center of his dish was in a hard, solid mass. The sauce had no taste and it was just bad. I had a ravioli pasta with a crab cake in the center. (A special.) The crab cake was very watery, not so fresh crab and chopped carrots and celery, nothing really to bind it. The pasta was also bland and I could not even eat it. We left disappointed...again.
Great outdoor patio...really enjoyed a beautiful fall day! Good food..good service...good vibe!
paella, the signature dish was very dry and bland. Have had better. my "caesar" salad was completely white, and boring. not a single green leaf. 3 other entrees in my party were good
This restaurant was highly recommended by locals and did not disappoint. We were unable to get in for dinner but were able to get a reservation for lunch which was spectacular.
Booked this place for a special occasion. The place was not busy at all, plenty of waiters have been browsing around, chatting in groups and having fun. However we needed to wait for about 15 min until someone could come to our table and take an order. I ordered a lobster soup, which as per the servant description comes in a form of a cream soup, well blended. The soup I received was not something even close to the one waiter described us. When we asked waiter to confirm whether it is our order, he apologized and told us it was not the lobster soup, and he first time see something like that with a high foam on top of the soup. A few minute later he brought that soup back again and pretending nothing was happened just returned it back to the table by saying: "hope it looks better now". Also I ordered a tuna aka tartar style. That dish was not bad, but extremely sprinkled with a red pepper. I love spicy food, but I should say even for me it was too much. Btw it was not mentioned in the menu this dish has high level of spiciness. Not my fav place in Sonoma for sure.
We were unable to get a reservation at our usual favorite in downtown Sonoma, so gave EDK a try. Glad we did! Our table was ready when we arrived; and the service was both professional and friendly. And the food? Everything we ordered had a unique/creative twist, and the flavors were exceptionally good. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience. We shall return!

By far the best food, drink and ambience on Sonoma Square. The outdoor courtyard patio is a gem. In colder weather, the indoor bar and dining room are warm and welcoming, elegant yet informal. Many vegetarian options on the menu and the vegan taco bowl was an incredibly sophisticed combo of flavors. The hot coffee served in its own French press is delicious and worth the visit by itself. The host and waitstaff are friendly without being invasive, and knew just when to approach the table. Bravo to El Dorado for maintaining a consistent high level of service and food - a rare trait in a place filled with tourists.
It was ok. Our server was good, attentive and personable. We had the salmon and smoked pork tenderloin, both were good. The smoked tenderloin was tender and very smoky. The hostess when we checked in didn’t offer the bar/lounge, which would have been nice. She seemed preoccupied with training a new guy, so we were dismissed to sit and wait in the lobby area. Not sure I’d go here again, didn’t leave me with a very welcoming feel

First time at El Dorado Kitchen and very impressed all around. The food looked elegant and was very tasty and the service was excellent. Will definitely be back.

What can I say? The table next to us had an obnoxious privileged drunk. He spilled wine all over himself as well...He was a loud American traveller! It was my fiancé birthday. So, obviously privileged people do not care what is happening around them , The hostess asked if we would like the free brownie or another dessert with a candle. I chose another dessert. I did not know that they would be choosing this dessert on our behalf and charging us on top of it. Not cool. I would have happily paid for the dessert of my choice. This thing had an entire can of cinnamon in it, whatever it it was.
Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere! The seafood paella is amazing! This is one of our very favorite restaurants in Sonoma
Spectacular food and cocktails. The acoustics in the restaurant are perfect for private conversation, you hear a gentle hum of indistinguishable voices. We had prime rib for two , Brussels Sprouts, roasted potatoes, the meal was perfection.
Our server was Israel and he was so kind, knowledgeable and friendly. I had been to El Dorado kitchen about 5 years ago during my Bachelorette weekend and was so excited to go back as this was our Anniversary dinner.
The food, ambiance and service was wonderful and we look forward returning in the near future!
We had some very positive aspects to our visit, but the quality of the entrees forces me to give this three stars. We ordered the special, which was a ribeye for two for $100. This is quite a splurge for me and for $50 each, I expected a fantastic piece of meat. It was not. The quality was that of what I buy at Safeway. I believe it was cooked in the oven instead of grilled. It was definitely not worth the money. The pork chop had the most bizarre texture, and not a great flavor either. On the positive side, the appetizers were amazing and the service was excellent (although the pre-dinner drinks were very slow to come). The dessert was a cocktail and was delicious. I may eat there again but skip the entree.
Arrived early for our 8 pm reservation, was quite busy but we were seated at a great table. Attentive wait staff. Super fun watching the kitchen staff interact with each other. Food was delicious- wagyu beef carpaccio, truffle fries, paella, & short ribs. The worst thing we ate was the bread, slightly stale.

Based upon the reviews we expected something super special but it was just OK. Hamburger was just about 1/4” thick but it WAS tasty
We arrived at 11:15 for an 11:30 reservation. The hostess was very curt and told us to come back at 11:30. It was a little confusing because there were many open tables with patrons sitting at just a few of them.
We returned at 11:28 and she reiterated that she could not seat us until 11:30! We stood there for two more minutes and then she escorted us to another part of the restaurant. Apparently the earlier diners were there for breakfast but lunch is in a different location. It would have saved some aggravation if she would have explained that at 11:15.
Great place for a nice meal and cocktails. I was here for a girls night out and we had a great time. We enjoyed the pork belly/scallops appetizer which had great flavor and was cooked to perfection. We also loved the short ribs and the duck breast special. The risotto had great flavor was a bit rich for our taste. The seafood pallea had great flavor too but the rice was a bit overcooked. The service was outstanding between our server and the bussers. And the bartender made great drinks. Will definitely go back.

Everything was great from the service to the food. We celebrated my moms 60th and sisters 30th birthdays and they were so kind to even put a little note on the menu. Overall, great meal and would highly recommend!
EDK (El Dorado Kitchen) is one of the better restaurants in/around the Sonoma Plaza. They offer a wide selection to satisfy all at the table. Their service is very good/polished . . . although, a small complaint with the initial greeting (when we walked in) . . . as they were having a full-blown conversation (with each other) while we stood there for 20+ seconds . . . leaving us wondering if we should say something (but we let it slide/moved on) !!!
This evening we shared the Caesar salad ($13) . . . and then feasted on the really good Ribeye for 2 ($100) . . . which included potatoes & fried Brussel sprouts. The Ribeye for 2 could easily feed 3 or 4 people . . . or . . . it makes for a great meal the next day !!!
We brought a nice bottle of Cabernet ($15 Corkage) and they provided very nice oversized stemware, which was appreciated.
EDK offers a full bar and a nice wine list/selection. They also offer outdoor seating in an intimate courtyard setting, if the weather allows.
Note: A great way to start (or end) the evening, prior/after dining at EDK is to visit “SIGH” a fun/upbeat sparkling wine/Champagne bar ($ to $$$) . . . they also offer a few beers/wines . . . open late . . . and located at the other end of the block, just off the Plaza.

The waitress was exceptional.
The food here is top-drawer. Nice cocktail menu, too. Service is attentive without being intrusive. The indoor part of the restaurant has modern, light-colored decor and an open floor plan—only downside is that it gets really noisy and hearing your table mates speak can be a challenge. The patio in the back is a great place for outdoor dining, weather permitting.

Fantastic food. Great variety. Great wine list. Great cocktail list. Nice ambience. I thought our server was a little bit hard to understand. That's it. Other than that, it was a great experience and I would totally go back again.

We had great food at El Dorado Kitchen but terrible service. Our waiter didn't tell us about the specials, never came back to ask how the food was or whether we wanted another drink, didn't provide dessert menus and generally ignored us the entire time. Other tables seemed to be getting great service, so it was a real disappointment. The food and cocktails were great, but the overall experience was definitely dampened by the bad service. We likely will not go back.
Our party of four was not impressed with the restaurant. Two of the dishes weren't bad, but were only average. The third dish was served with chicken that was raw in the middle, and the vegetarian dish was very disappointing. The chicken dish was removed from the bill, but for the price point and reputation of the restaurant we expected a much better experience. The server was sweet and professional, which is why I rated the restaurant a two star instead of one.
Their pork belly appetizer is excellent. It’s a must have. The paella was great too
We always enjoy EDK (El Dorado Kitchen) . . . they have something on the menu for everyone . . . including a full bar . . . and a nice wine list at reasonable prices. They have an upbeat vibe and are pretty trendy for the Sonoma Plaza (wink).

We had a great anniversary dinner! Everything was delicious, the service was wonderful and the restaurant was busy and bustling… I love the lighting and the decor… We’ve been coming to this restaurant for decades and it never is a disappointment!
