It was great to see it open and to start coming back!
into they have a live show and they serve with regular plates and silverware and open the main dinner I think i could be worthy buy now not worthy to go
Wasn’t too sure about this place from the outside but WOW I’m so glad we tried it! Ambiance, food and service was outstanding!
First timer & we loved El Cid... Great vibe & awesome patio!
It was so cute , food was delicious
The restaurant was beautiful. The ambience was incredible.
food was excellent, but a couple of mistakes in our order cause a delay for 20 minutes for one of our entrees caused a gap that could have been helped by re-heating our food.
it took a lot from the experience
We enjoyed our visit to El Cid. The space is very nice outside and even though it was cool they had heaters. The service was good. Our server was very attentive, and only toward the end we did not see him for a while. I think he was just very busy.
The only thing I disliked was that being served with paper plates, and plastic forks and cups was not very enjoyable. I don't know if this is a Covid related measure, or something they have always done, because it was my first time there. However, this is the one thing I would change. That was unexpected and not something I want to do when going out to dine.
The food was very good and came out fast. Overall our experience was good.
Food was great, staff was awesome, 100% recommended. Beautiful atmosphere and vibe. Great unexpected location. One thing I would change is when you make a reservation I wish you would be reserving a table or space, no. It’s all on a “first come, first goes” basis so it got me confused. I had to wait for a table but nothing too crazy either. Overall a wonderful experience. I’m writing this review as I’m booking the next date night with them.
Really disappointed in the menu, they had changed a bunch of items and we cane there with a child ao she wnded up just eating pita & hummus...
They say that they serve spanish food, but the jamón y queso was not good and there wasn’t even burrata. The paella sounded gross and was SUPER over priced because the order was for 2.
Not impresssed. Good for quarantining though since we were thw ONLY people there at 630 on a sat night...
Waitress there was amazing I did not catch her name but she made us feel very welcomed along with the manager will definitely go back!!!
First, when we were crossing the street. A homeless guy was harassing us. Second,
of all we were in the back of a parking lot next to a bridge. Third, the menu was a special valentines day only. With no prices. I had to ask for the price which was 50$ per meal. I specified to the waitress. We got serverd portions all for 1 person and we shared. When we got our bill. The waitress charged us for 2 as if we had gotten serverd 2 portions and she said we charge per person??? She didnt clarify this when I asked her the price and that I only wanted to be charged for one.
I then was forced to pay the bill. I called the Manager and he was very rude. I had to argue with him that this is unfair if your going to charge me per person this should have been specified and if you have a menu why isn't there any prices. He didnt have an answer for me. He then said free drinks on the house. I said this wasn't good enough. He then said we will give you a free meal. I said you don't understand we dont want to come back. He offered to only redund $50 worth which still isn't good enough. Who has a menu with no prices???
The food wasn't even that good. Small frozen empanadas and a small soup. Seriously? Your charging me 150$ to sit in a parking lot next to a bridge and the homeless. I'm beyond disappointed.
I'm never coming back and it ruined my special day. Worst place ever.
This is more caring suggestion to El Cid, which I always loved and recommend, but not today.
We came 4:30pm on Valentine’s Day. Sever told us we have to take 4 course menu, because of the timing. Fine, NP. We did. But some ppl after us just took drinks only. Interesting …
They served us on mini size cheap paper plates, plastic knife and fork that you usually pick up at McDonald’s to go. This was behind any understanding. Guys it was Valentine’s Day, maybe you could put some normal regular plastic or even paper plates, but with decent size and quality ??? Those plates were only good for one small cookie, so how we should eat your Valentine’s 4 course menu there??? I don’t require great service now-days, sure it’s Pandemic time, we should be considerate towards each other, support, but this was something out of respect towards your customers. Please Pay Attention to your service !!!
Best regards.
Food was ok. Pricey, as were the drinks. I understand there’s a pandemic but $17 drink in a small plastic cup?! Great atmosphere though, and attentive staff. Must be nice when the live music and the crowds are there. Wouldn’t go again.
Slow service
Waited thirty minutes for water after we received tequila shots after three times asking. Boyfriend had to go ask kitchen for waters since we never got it . Also issue with table seating and slow slow service
We arrived and was sat down by a male waiter/bartender who took us to a 4 person table way back against the wall which we didn’t mind. However, my wife and I noticed the heat lamp was off and it was a bit chilly so we asked our female waiter if we can turn on the heater. She asked the male waiter, the same guy who sat us done if he can turn it on. He said it wasn’t working so therefore we asked him if we can sit on a booth which each one had a heat lamp mounted above. He told my wife that the booths were only reserved for four people which didn’t make sense because two of the booths were already occupied by two different couples on each one. I told him the same thing and he said he would give us the next one available. We decided to wait, 10 minutes later he walks in two females and sits them on a empty booth which is the same one we asked for earlier, the same one he told us was reserved for four people. At that point we decided to leave and told our female waiter to cancel everything. We didn’t tell them anything because we don’t want to cause any drama but we felt so discriminated against! Maybe it’s because I’m Hispanic and my wife is black but we will never go back in.
Fun ambiance, unfortunately very poor customer service. Food took nearly 2 hours to come to the table and some food never showed up. Would have appreciated an acknowledgment from the server or an apology. We had all worked in the service industry before so we understood things happen but there’s no excuse for poor customer service. Had high hopes, but would not recommend.
Good food & great service. Staff is super friendly! Can not wait until they are able to have live music again!
We all had a great evening. The staff was wonderful and attentive. The chicken empanadas were very good
The food is always delicious, especially the empanadas, and drinks are always perfect - the Cadillac margaritas and sangria are a fave. Great friendly service!
great casual fun spot, super chill and inviting, good backyard spot
They seemed to have over booked for some event so we had to wait a while... BUT, staff was very apologetic and extremely nice and have us sangria on the house for the long wait. In the end, it was nice and very romantic, at least for the event that was meant to happen.
Great time
The place has a nice atmosphere but the menu is a bit odd. Due check it before you go.
Was so surprised at the size and layout of the property.
Service was excellent and the Lamb Chops with Risotto were perfectly done.
Started with the grilled shrimp and those could be featured on their own! Will definitely be back. Cocktails also on point.
Charming outdoor service during the Quarantine. Plastic cups, knives and forks but still great food and historic ambience.
It was an unique place - you have to walked down the stairs to get into the yards which is very colorful (at nite), unique and colorful. It’s nice but with all the all surrounding and sky - there is no breeze nor wind and no fans so you will sweet abit. The drinks is okey, don’t expect much. The foods on the other hand, well it wasn’t that good. My friend said that it taste or look like from Costco. But the service is great (since he’s the only one with 10 tables for the whole time we’re there). He forgot us sometimes but he was super friendly and nice. That’s it.
They were super nice and welcoming, they accommodated us down in the patio for our anniversary.
Now the food was mediocre. The potatoes on the lamb chops plate were salty and many of them burned. Over seasoned. The lamb chops were not the most tender and they served it with a side of ranch dressing. The finger empanadas looked and tasted like the ones from Trader Joe’s. Definitely not made there, too salty. The sangria was ok.
They served us on paper plates and gave us plastic ware, I had to ask for a real steak knife for the lamb chops. Everywhere else in the westside they provide regular dinning ware. Not here. The food quality is mediocre and the presentation made me feel that we were at a fast food restaurant.
I wish there was music instead of comedy show. Or at least that should be told upon reservations
Most horrible dining experience of our lives. We had been to El Cid many times before and always enjoyed their dinner and shows. However, in these pandemic times, avoid it at all costs.
We were not allowed to sit in the main patio, although it was empty. They sat us by the street. The terribly overcooked lamb chops were served on paper plates with plastic utensils and paper napkins. The overpriced wine served in plastic cups by a rude waiter.
The band rehearsing in the empty main patio was cringe making with a singer who screeched 20's songs off key.Save your money. McDonalds would have been more enjoyable.
It was a pleasure to go to El Cid for the first time for my tenth wedding anniversary. My parent's used to go to El Cid in the sixties and often told me about to. It was a very nice experience. The Flamenco dancing was beautiful and the ambience charming.
We recently went to Europe on vacation and stayed in Barcelona for a couple of days. Over there, we watched a Flamenco show. As a date night we wanted to recall the vacation time back home in LA. We enjoyed The flamenco show, the Spanish food (paella), and the spanish flair at El CID. It was a wonderful time and we are sure we will be back for another flamenco show.
The flamenco show was beautiful but the food was just AWEFUL. I’m not a picky eater so that says a lot. The person I went with as well though his food was equally as terrible. Unfortunate because the location is beautiful and so was the show. I won’t be going beck or recommending this place because the food is that bad.
It was ok but not my favorite. Nice to go once and have that experience
I would only recommend El Cid to a friend for the historic value that D.W.Griffith built it so many years ago. I took my daughter for New Years Eve. The fixed price was $100. each which is understandable for the evening. The food was adequate at best. The soup was unrecognizable. the salad was really unrecognizable and not good at that. The paiaa for two was not great but was filled nicely with shrimp, muscles and clams. The flamenco dancing was worth the wait although I wish the dancers were as young and beautiful as were depicted in many photos and murals around the restaurant. I am all for people doing what they love but the folks on stage who were my age and older should be teaching a younger generation to take their place. I would only return for the ambiance which is excellent. I wish the owners would take a visit up to Yamashiro which is attracting a younger crowd again with their excellent food an ambiance.
I went for the flamenco show which was very entertaining. The atmosphere is nice and intimate and also a great place to come with a small group. I got the deal on Groupon which made it even better.
Had a fantastic time with my girlfriend! Great dinner show experience - well worth the money.
It was a super fun energetic and authentic Flamenco show. El CID has been in business in Hollywood for many years and it is still a blast. Even the fellow guests were fun. So worth it!
Great place! Good food! Get the groupon! Good deal :D
El Cid is a charming restaurant/bar. From the moment you enter and walk down the stairs you can feel that it has been around for a long time. It has years of love put into it! You instantly forget you came in from the city!
If you are going there specifically to see a flamenco show you came to the right place! 💃🏻 The dancers put their heart into their craft!
The staff is very warm and inviting!!
The venue has a intimate feel to it because it’s not too big. There is also a outdoor patio area that you can eat outside. It has a really nice ambiance filled with hanging lights and colored tile work that gives it a old world feeling.
If you want to escape the everyday routine of life and see a flamenco show, which is hard to find in Los Angeles this is the place to go!!!
Ps. El Cid also has many wonderful eclectic things going on after flamenco show. Djs and dancing on certain weekends! So make sure to keep looking at their website for fun things to do!!
