El Chorro Ratings and Reviews
We arrived for a birthday celebration about 5 minutes early. The hostess told us she was checking us in but that our table was not available yet. She told us we could wait in the bar area. We went into the bar and waited and waited and waited. Finally we inquired and the hostess was very rude. She acted as though we had not checked in. I received a phone message wondering if we had decided not to come because we were over 15 minutes late! The hostess never apologized and acted as though we had never checked in.
The food and ambiance st this restaurant are wonderful. Our waiter was wonderful. The manager did come over to apologize and offered to Comp appetizers. However, a restaurant of this caliber should not tolerate a hostess this incompetent and one who will not admit her mistakes.
After having a fabulous 25th anniversary dinner at El Chorro last year, I made a reservation about 5 weeks in advance (outside seating preference) for Valentine's Day because my sister and brother-in-law were visiting from New York City. Unfortunately, due to rain, we were seated in their Event Room, which wasn't too exciting. The menu was severely limited (3 entree choices), overpriced ($150 per couple including a mandatory 20% gratuity for a party of 4), and the service was unremarkable. Our server informed us that the filet mignon could only be ordered well-done or medium rare so we could not order the steak to our own individual taste, and when we asked for cracked pepper on our salads (which she didn't offer), she made some comment that she had to go to the dining room to get it. We were offered an option to cancel or change to another day with 1/2 price wine, but this was the only day we could go because my sister was leaving the next day. This was truly a disappointment for all of us, especially after an hour ride to get there from the west valley.
An excellent meal and equally great service. A lovey wine list and some tasty entrees including two very appealing specials The Trout Amandine was delicious and as was the filet oscar my wife ordered. While the prices are fine dining prices, the experience is worth the expense. This is a great place for a nice meal with your love or friends
Absolutely a wonderful experience! They called ahead and asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor dining. Outdoor is great but is was a little chilly, they were great and sat us right in front of the fireplace.
The service and service was exceptional! Great place for any special occasion.
Be careful about patio dining. A comfortable table (no sun in the eyes or burning you to a crisp) is not guaranteed, so be prepared. There is always the option to dine inside. Otherwise a lovely outdoor dining experience. Food was very good with the right portion size.
We arrived early, hostess suggested we seat our selves in the bar, til our table was available. Had to flag down the manager to request a drink! We were taken to a table and left with a very disenfranchised waiter, Nate was so bored with his job that he barely did it. I had to go ask someone for butter. The setting is still stunning, but the meal was mediocre and the lack of service, numbing...El Chorro used to have an amazing staff.....I won't be back! It made me sad.....
Sunday Brunch with Friends..... Good food and reasonably diverse menu. Indoor or outdoor seating which is great in Phoenix in February...... Have been before and will be going back. Remodeled a few years back, so if you have not been in 20 years, a pleasant upgrade.....
We go to this restaurant a several times a year, the service was terrible we had to ask another waiter to find our waitress to take our order. We had to remind our waitress several times to bring drinks. It was over an hour before our food was served. Food was okay usually it’s great, we were very disappointed because we had brought family from out of town and we had bragged how great the food was it was a real let down.
Initially when we got there we were unhappy with our waiter and the service he provided. The manager Tracy came over to the table so we could voice our complaint. She could not have been any nicer. She made everything right! She is a gem. And we ended up having the best time and meal at ElChorro. We will be back!
We have been coming here for 35 years or more. One of the nicest places in the valley ...food has always been good...and staff is outstanding....
Its also a great place to take out of town visitors as there is nothing like it where they come from.
Love their trout...and scalloped potatoes.
We asked that the Chateaubriand not be salted - and they did not salt it. ( although for $130 the meat left very much to be desired). All the other food was much too salty. Why salt delicious King Salmon? The vegetables, were delicious also but the salt ruined them. The waiter was on the ball and had them redone - without the salt. Good chefs don't have to overpower the food with salt!
El Chorro has been around since G-d made dirt. The food was OK, albeit expensive. The menu is ordinary, nothing particularly special. I liked this restaurant much better under the original owners and funky kind of old-fashioned menu. It had character. The new El Chorro is just another expensive Scottsdale commercial enterprise.
A lovely, relaxing Sunday brunch. Hard to determine which menu items to select as so many were appealing to our party of four. The margaritas were excellent, though a bit on the pricey side. Service was pleasantly attentive and accommodating. We will definitely return!
We had a very nice table next to a fireplace on the patio. Service was surprisingly slow. We had to ask for water two times, and our waitress forgot to bring one of us our glass of wine. The food was very good...it’s always good. There was a wedding reception the night we were there, so our poor service could have been because they were stretched too thin.
