Lovely evening for an anniversary celebration..
We had a nice evening with nice people all around. Always one of the greatest views around in Paradise Valley! Great waiter!
Classic Phoenix joint and they had a wonderful prix fixe menu for Father's Day!
Sunday was brunch was delicious, well portioned and well priced. Every meal at brunch comes with a basket of fresh cinnamon rolls, scones & croissants which is an added bonus!
We went for Father's Date as this was my husband's favorite place to brunch. He loves the atmosphere, the view, the sticky buns, and the Bloody Marys. We went with our daughter, son in law, and grandson.
Unfortunately, we were not totally happy with the service and the waiter, or the food. The waiter seemed to be "hung over" as he didn't have much of a personality and didn't seem to really want to be there.
My husband ordered the special $6 Bloody Mary but didn't really like it. He loves the one with the giant prawn in it and if he was offered that option, he would have certainly had that. There was no mention that the bloody mary would not have the prawn from the waiter, but we should have expected no prawn since the price was cheaper than normal. I had a glass of Veuve Clicquot after asking for the champagne/wine menu. The waiter brought it over but there were very few bubbles and seemed flat. At $15 a glass, one would expect lots of bubbles. It seemed the bottle was left over from the night below. We sent that back and another glass of champagne was brought out which was more fitting.
My smoked salmon was tasty and wonderful, as usual. Hubby and son in law got the special benedict with crab and filet tenderloin. I didn't ask my son in law if he enjoyed his meal, but my husband said he should have order the regular eggs benefit as the beef was dry and tasteless. Our daughter had a bagel with cream cheese and avocado which she was very happy with.
Maybe because it was Father's Day, the food, drinks, and waiter were "off". Because we enjoy the El Chorro Lodge, we will be back, but probably not for any special occasion.
One positive was the woman who was refilling the water glasses (blonde, glasses). She was very nice and personable and engaged our grandson in conversation. We all agreed that we would have loved to have her as our wait person instead of the one we had.
My husband’s birthday dinner was absolutely delicious! There is a beautiful outside space and we had a lovely table on a beautiful evening. Don’t forget to request sitting outside when you make your reservation. Service was great. It is expensive but considering the quality of the food not so far out of line, We have been away from the Valley for about 20 years and were so happy to return to El Chorro. Although it looks quite different, it kept the charm and the yummy monkey bread. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to go back again.
Great tine with some relatively new friends. We were there for dinner & stayed for 3 hours (and 2 bottles of wine). Good food!!
This restaurant was recommended by a neighbor and the ambiance was nice but the food was disappointing. It was close to wedding dinner/banquet food but very pricy. As we looked around every entree had the same sad green beans and over cooked tomatoes as the sides. My husbands pasta was over cooked. And worst of all were the cinnamon sticky buns served with dinner ... maybe desert or breakfast? The service was good.
We had a great dining experience to celebrate my Dad’s 90th birthday. Although he has lived in the Valley for 18 years, he had never been to El Chorro. Ron has waited on us before and continued to provide with top notch attention. The short ribs were the best (besides the sticky buns!). We will be back
We do happy hour here frequently and dine here several times a year. Always a great experience
Staff is always well-informed on menu options and food is always great
Great location for weekend brunch!
The service was not what I expected. I was seated soon but felt I was forgotten after receiving the menu.
Great food and service as always.
Great venue, perfect views of the desert and mountains. The service is first class. The menu has good variety. Extensive wine list to suit all tastes. Signature sticky buns a must.
It’s always a pleasure sharing dinners w friends - at El Chorro
Always good, excellent service, enjoy the views. We went for Sunday Brunch and our dishes were excellent.
Really lovely. We sat on the patio just before sunset and it was just an amazing, classic AZ setting. Service was excellent. Everything we ordered was awesome. This was for our 1st wedding anniversary. Ryan took great care of us. I'm sure we'd love to come back sooner than later! Thank you, El Chorro!
Favorite place in the Valley - our waitress Jaymi was amazing. Never had anything but an amazing experience here.
Only positive things to say about El Chorro. Always excellent food and service and the location is lovely.
Dinner at El Chorro is always great and always the highlight of our trip. Love it!
From the moment we were greeted at the reception desk the night was special. We arrived early so decided to have a cocktail ... Wait staff was "sincerely enthusiastic" and made it fun ...
Dinner staff was attentive and also energetic ... Food was El Choro good ... Sitting outside with temperatures in the 90's was perfect ( misters + fans + coolers) ... ALL IN ALL a 5 star rating !!! Good Job & we will be back.
We are visiting from Nebraska and ordered the filet. Both my husband and I agreed it was the BEST STEAK EVER! And we know our steak! The patio is beautiful, service is exceptional. We’ve been coming to Scottsdale for 20 years....this is now our new favorite! We give it 5 stars!!!
The BRUSSEL SPROUTS, KALE & PARMESAN salad (aged Grana Padana parmesan, romaine, roasted pepitas, honey bacon, dried cranberries, almonds, champagne maple vinaigrette) was absolutely the best salad my wife and I have ever experienced - exceptional. The main course CHATEAUBRIAND FOR TWO (choice of lobster & corn bisque or El Chorro house salad, buttered asparagus, fingerling potatoes & garden carrots – choice of: Strawberry shortcake for two, or glass of port or champagne per guest) was cooked to perfection. We had 2 desserts and a birthday treat, all were excellent. This is not an inexpensive establishment to enjoy a meal, but if you want excellent service and a fine meal - this is the place to go!
El Chorro was a great option for Sunday brunch! The service was excellent and the food is great. Their sticky buns bread basket is a great accompaniment for brunch and there are lots of options for libations. The portion size is big and the food is reasonably priced making this a great value. They have a huge patio with tons of umbrellas and great view of the surrounding valley. Overall a great choice for brunch in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area.
The grounds are beautiful. The food is very good and unexpected.
Great food, fresh ingredients. Beautiful setting with a lot of misters and cool air fans. Great service. We will be back.
First, this is the perfect AZ setting. Not too western kitschy , but enough to be unique. Great view and stellar service. The good is scrumptious and we loved the food gras with pork belly, there were also two divine shrimp dishes and as a Kentucky Girl, I’m addicted to the chicken livers. Wasn’t a fan of the sticky buns and hated the prickly pear margarita. It tasted like hmmmmmmm nothing 🤷🏽♀️
El Chorro is a lovely, upscale restaurant, in a scenic setting with fabulous outdoor seating. The food was very good, but what you are really paying for is the ambiance. Great for date night or people watching
We closed the place down! A wonderful 4 hour dinner with a friend. Excellent service by Ryan. Great suggestion for a bottle of wine. We did the AZ restaurant week menu and it did not disappoint. Awesome salad, melt in your mouth filet and delicious desserts. Can’t beat the atmosphere anywhere.
Once again, this was a perfect evening. This is our "go to" place for special occasions and we always go home happy. Even if there is a glitch, which can happen at the best of spots, it is well handled so you leave with a good feeling. We'll be back.
Perfect start to anniversary weekend. It happened to be AZ Restaurant week. Vichyssoise, scallop and lobster thermidor sauce. Coco tart and bonus anniversary mini dessert to share.
Nothing short of Perfect! It became a memorable experience, also because El Chorro honored our wishes without any problems! Apart from having delicious food we also had the most beautiful seating! Thank you for taking such a good care of us!
We went there for our birthdays and had not been there for years. The quality of the food went down. The appetizers and desserts were good but the entrees were not freshly prepared. The music was horrible 80’s songs that were not good in the 80’s along with Disney songs. I used to love this place but the new feel is less desirable.
Fabulous as always. Great food, great view, an definite Arizona gem!
Always enjoy our meals here. The cinnamon buns are always a hit!
30 minutes over reserved time to be seated. Hostess with an attitude. Rarely saw server, he was too busy with a private party. Not that busy yo have such bad service. Misters went on way too long....
Loved, loved, loved. Service was amazing, food was soooo good, excellent outdoor seating.
We went for restaurant week. Our meal was delicious. I want to come back for my birthday celebration in October. The server was very accommodating because I have to eat gluten free.
Have been going to El Charro for 35 years - and have never been disappointed. This is a great restaurant, with a fantastic atmosphere. So nice to sit on the patio and enjoy the views along with great food/drink. Highly recommend
We had a party of 5 on the patio. I loved that the tables were far enough apart that you didn't feel like you were in someone else's business. The view was amazing. Our server, Ryan, was exceptional. He helped guide us through the menu and made excellent recommendations. He was very attentive to our needs the entire evening. It was the first time dining here for all 5 of us and we will definitely be back.
