Denise was our server and she was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, great personality, quick to respond. She made the evening outstanding.
We had dinner and breakfast at Prado. Our waitress was attentive and polite . The short ribs were tender and delicious. We had brunch Saturday and it was a great variety and everything we ate was really good.
I must comment on a gentleman named Frank a.k.a grandpa Frank. He was warm, welcoming, kind and went above and beyond to answer all of our questions even advice on attractions. Everything he said was spot on. He was this way with everyone that entered the restaurant , not just us. I know he doesn’t use Facebook etc so I hope his staff reads this and passes it along. I wish more businesses had mature staffing along with young. The mature are more polished in PR. Because of him I give 5 stars! Thank you Frank!!!
Excellent service. The food was good, but not perfect. The catch of the day, salmon was excellent, cooked perfectly which is hard to do. I enjoyed the Baratta salad, but the strawberry couscous salad was too vinegary. The Thai Basil shrimp was way too salty but the shrimp was huge and fresh, maybe a tad over cooked.
The patio is beautiful, but I was surprised how loud it was for outdoor seating. Still worth it though for the ambiance.
Beautiful setting. Food is good but not everything justified the expense.
We all received multiple bug bites on our lower legs and feet though which was bothersome!
Beautiful setting for celebrating with friends.
Magical night on the patio....beautiful!!!! Food was delicious!!!
Had Sunday brunch here the other day for the first time. I had the Prime Rib dip and my wife had the breakfast tamales. Both were wonderful as is the outdoor atmosphere. Nice place for Sunday brunch. Will have to try dinner next.
Had a great time. Great menu and outstanding service by Ryan.
Girls trip! Loved it!
El Chorro is one of the Valley’s peak dining experiences. No ifs ands or buts.
My husband and I booked a reservation for outdoors. It was a lovely setting. Although the mosquitoes were terrible. We asked to be seated indoors before we placed an order. The waiter acted very put out and annoyed. The indoor seating was much better. We placed our appetizer order which was great and cooked very well. Then our dinner order. All food came timely. Our waiter never checked on us again except to offer desert and then deliver the check. We sat for over 10 minutes with empty drinks. I never ever usually complain, but both my husband and I felt we were treated as if we couldn’t afford to be there from check in to check out. Their staff were not friendly. We are used to high end dining as we live in a resort town and our plates here are around $50/ person. Too many options in that valley to waste time on this place. I also got told on my way out from another patron “Jeez I hope you don’t deliver right here” as I am 7.5 months pregnant. It was awful.
Beautiful setting and delicious food. The sticky buns alone are worth a visit. Sitting outside provides a wonderful ambiance but bring the bug spray! Definitely a great date night!
I've hosted small business meals many times at El Chorro. We love bringing our guests to this location and the setting may be the finest in Arizona. The food on this visit was good, not outstanding. My guests ordered the halibut (special) and thought it was good. My filet was certainly not commensurate with the price point. The side vegetables and scalloped potatoes were an afterthought. Appetizer (shrimp pot) and cocktails were excellent.
I was surprised that our server approached us prior to ordering and announced, "i'm going to be getting busy, so you might want to order". I guess my standard for this level of dining is that there is adequate staffing for low and peak meal periods. Never presumed that we might be neglected if we waited.
That said, it was overall a good and productive evening.
Beautiful restaurant and patio. Server was pleasant and helpful. Pace was relaxing. Always a great experience!
One of the all time greats! Wonderful foot and service!!
Wonderful Sunday brunch. The stickie buns are delicious. We both had the eggs Benedict that we perfect.
I am not complaining but this experience was good not outstanding. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we did not leave until after 9:00. After our order was taken, it took quite awhile before our food arrived. The waitress stated that there was a glitch in the back when ordering our food and that was the reason it had taken so long. Again the food was good, not outstanding like I had heard from my friends. I am not saying that I would not return. Because everybody has a bad day.
This old Arizona tradition of a restaurant, has gone so way down hill in every area, from management to service, and most importantly the quality of the food. The manager was at the front desk no smile no greeting, and the restaurant was slow, for a Saturday at 6:00 pm the staff unfortunately reflected upon the half awake manager. We ordered off the Restaurant Week menu, and the caesar salad have very little dressing, and was terrible, the main cause my wife wanted to have a different sauce on the filet because she was allergic to rosemary, which the server said she beloved it was in the sauce. So NO SUBSTITUTIONS allowed, not even an offer for a different sauce. It was a plain piece of meat with no flavor.3 baby carrots, 3 apparatus it was so poorly done. My Halibut looked and tasted fishy, and appeared to be a different fish like Talapia!! I have never written a bad review on Open Table, I would never go to this restaurant again. I hope you will contact the general manger of this place and let them be aware this m,eat ruined our anniversary!!!
Great food and atmosphere. We sat outside and it was beautiful!
Went to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and my husbands birthday which are 4 days apart. First of all, DO NOT go during Restaurant Week! Extra people and tables and we asked to be reseated due to a 2 top table that was all wobbly due to not being a regular set table. They did. But just too many folks and the RW menu was ok. The steak was a tad overdone and the gnocchi were a little dry as I bet they cooked a million ahead of time and gnocchi should really not sit around as they form an outer layer on them. Anyways.....lesson learned. No Restaurant Week visits.
Four of us dined for restaurant week. All felt the salad was tasteless and the desserts were mediocre. The halibuts were dry even with the sauce the kitchen had added. The steaks were okay but very disappointing compared to the steaks we had at Roka Akor a few nights before and at Capital Grill the next night.
Service was great. The halibut was a bit dry - may have been over cooked.
Excellent restaurant week menu!!! The patio is in a perfect setting of Camelback Mtn. Great service.
Love the building, its a long standing landmark. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding, high quality. Haven't been in years but will return again soon.
Very nice. Food great, service outstanding. Easy destination, valet parking available. We will be back.
Excellent food, nice ambience and great service. I would definitely come back
always a great place for a special dinner. lovely grounds, excellent food and service.
Wanted to go somewhere special for Arizona Restaurant Week. My wife and I have always enjoyed El Chorro - when we saw the 3 course menu options it was a no brainer.
Both of us did the halibut- perfectly prepared; moist, flaky, fresh and flavorful! We each chose separate starters and desserts then shared. Starting off with the superb complimentary sticky buns is always a joy at El Chorro. Everything was fresh, tasty and delicious. Service was prompt, efficient but never intrusive.
A wonderful dinner at a classic and classy restaurant.
Ordered a drink that was so sour , we could not drink it. Sent them back and reordered. Ordered a shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were tough and rubbery. Sent it back. Dinner entree was good. When check came we were charged for all the drinks and the shrimp cocktail. Had to talk to manager to get them taken off. They said entree came with sticky buns we never got. I have eaten here before but will not again
Incredible food, ambiance, and service. Recommend!
FIRST TIME BACK SINCE IT WAS REMODELED. LOVE IT! FOOD AND SERVICE WERE WONDERFUL. iT WAS RESTAURANT WEEK SO WE DID THE SUGGESTED MENU. EVERYTHING WAS SPOT ON. THANKS FOR A GREAT EVENING!
Sunday Brunch and the weather is now such that their lovely patio was very pleasant.
Our server, Denice is one of the best we have ever had anywhere! She made our meal all the more pleasant and fun!
You have to try the frozen tangerine drink, a decadent milkshake, wow! You’ll be hooked.
The huevos rancheros and tamales were perfectly prepared and very delicious! As good as it gets.
Love it here!
I love the patio! The ambience and service are excellent. We enjoyed dining during restaurant week ! Wonderful event !
Dining on the patio in Arizona (weather permitting) is fabulous! El Chorro has a magnificent patio with spectacular views! The food is consistent and typically very delicious! Restaurant week was just ok this year. 3 entrees to choose from and our table enjoyed all three. The filet was a bit disappointing. The halibut and the vegetarian entree were good. I always enjoy myself at El Chorro.... but it is never an inexpensive evening.
This place is amazing. Captures all the senses. So beautiful. Could have stayed there for hours.
Always enjoy our experience so much!
Our server,Vicki, was very attentive & personable. We all enjoyed our entrees & the ambience ( we sat outside on the patio).
We love the atmosphere on the patio at El Chorro and the food is consistently great. Our server was pleasant and efficient but it came as a shock that a 20% gratuity was added for a party of 6. While we may have tipped that amount anyway, all 6 of us thought that was a bit presumptuous, particularly since we did not see that listed anywhere on the menu or on the reservation through Open Table.
It was Restaurant week so we expected a great dinner. Two of three of our steaks were over cooked. The fish was prepared well but the overall dish was dry and hard to eat. We had to wait 5 minutes to be seated until our ACTUAL reservation time even though half the resturant was empty. We are not going back.
