Beautiful building and dining room! Gives the Arizona- old west feel with the Southwest decor and historical photographs. Patio seating would’ve been ideal, but the weather was too hot. Food was great and had an impressive presentation. Basket of breads were delicious.

Love the ambiance! Dinner outside was amazing! Had the place to ourselves since the heat doesn’t bother me at all! Server was wonderful! Had the braised short ribs which was the best thing on the menu!!!

We've been to El Chorro many times, and it has been our favorite restaurant. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. The restaurant has been outstanding in the past, but this time we noticed the following differences:
* It was early on a Sunday evening with few people in the restaurant, but even so the service was slow.
*One of the things I really look forward to is their wonderful scalloped potatoes made with Gruyere cheese, and although these potatoes were served they were not prepared fresh. They must have been left over either from the brunch that day, or from dinner the previous night. Not the same fine quality as usual.
* The restaurant has started playing the same awful music that is heard in all the chain restaurants these days -- horrible, high-pitched music by screaming females like Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Adele and Katie Perry. It sounded like a bubble-gummer channel -- not in sync with the clientele of this restaurant. It completely ruined the classy atmosphere. My husband stopped to tell the manager about this on our way out, and he said that we won't return if they're going to play this music.

We LOVED our server, Denise. My friend and I go out to eat together a few times a month, and this time I picked brunch at El Chorro, as I have heard their sticky buns are out of this world (they are)! Denise told us about the history of El Chorro and we had a great view of camelback mountain which made the brunch so special. She helped us with our food choices and was so friendly and welcoming. It was my first time dining there and I can't wait to go back. I will definitely request her again.

My first time at El Chorro - Delightful venue! Service (Vicky) was excellent; 2 of my party ordered the Catch (Grouper) and it wasn’t what they expected. My bride’s and my Filet Oscars were outstanding! All other personnel were friendly and professional!
Looking forward to our next visit very soon!

We had high expectations of El Chorro, however...
Seated immediately, but then waited for 10 minutes before our server appeared and a further 10 minutes before being asked to order drinks.
Cocktails arrived simultaneously as our meal
Salmon was delicious, short ribs were lukewarm. Asked for them to be returned to the kitchen, which took a while as the servers appeared to be busy. I would add the dining room was far from full.
Short ribs were returned. My silverware was not, resulting in another short delay
Desserts were so so. My seasonal pie, apple, was I am sorry to say, very pedestrian.
Disappointing experience I am afraid.

Service was great and the Arizona setting was fantastic. I had the beef stroganoff and my wife had the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass was cooked to perfection. I loved the beef stroganoff all though next time I would try something else. It's a class place in Scottsdale area.

Things started out pretty good. We had great drinks in the bar area and really liked the server. . She was great & brought us a menu to look at while we waited for our table. It was a new summer menu and she highly recommended the old fashioned broaster fried chicken. As we were on vacation that week and had eaten steak, fish and pasta we had our hearts set on that fried chicken. When we did get to our table our server came over and told us about the specials but did not mention that they were out of the fried chicken. We ordered the shrimp pepper pot as an appetizer and I have to say it was very good. When he came back for our entree order and we told him we both wanted to order chicken...that’s when he told us they were out of it.
How disappointing. We ate the appetizer and left.
We really liked the ambiance and the servers were very nice but for a restaurant of that caliber they should have enough to serve for the evening.

It was our anniversary, and we were treated very well, a special table, pretty view and great service. June is a lot less busy than the winter season. Timing of the food, temperature and the way it was cooked were all superb. Shrimp Pepper Pot was to die for, although the crusty bread is sometimes almost too crusty, the ahi tuna Niçoise salad was not our favorite, didn’t seem to blend as well as others I have had, and would try something else next time. The Scottish Salmon was superb, the seasonal catch was CA sea bass and was well prepared but not as wonderful as the salmon. It was finished by a lovely white chocolate mousse torte that was a lovely gift to end a most wonderful evening.

We went for Father's Date as this was my husband's favorite place to brunch. He loves the atmosphere, the view, the sticky buns, and the Bloody Marys. We went with our daughter, son in law, and grandson.

Unfortunately, we were not totally happy with the service and the waiter, or the food. The waiter seemed to be "hung over" as he didn't have much of a personality and didn't seem to really want to be there.

My husband ordered the special $6 Bloody Mary but didn't really like it. He loves the one with the giant prawn in it and if he was offered that option, he would have certainly had that. There was no mention that the bloody mary would not have the prawn from the waiter, but we should have expected no prawn since the price was cheaper than normal. I had a glass of Veuve Clicquot after asking for the champagne/wine menu. The waiter brought it over but there were very few bubbles and seemed flat. At $15 a glass, one would expect lots of bubbles. It seemed the bottle was left over from the night below. We sent that back and another glass of champagne was brought out which was more fitting.

My smoked salmon was tasty and wonderful, as usual. Hubby and son in law got the special benedict with crab and filet tenderloin. I didn't ask my son in law if he enjoyed his meal, but my husband said he should have order the regular eggs benefit as the beef was dry and tasteless. Our daughter had a bagel with cream cheese and avocado which she was very happy with.

Maybe because it was Father's Day, the food, drinks, and waiter were "off". Because we enjoy the El Chorro Lodge, we will be back, but probably not for any special occasion.

One positive was the woman who was refilling the water glasses (blonde, glasses). She was very nice and personable and engaged our grandson in conversation. We all agreed that we would have loved to have her as our wait person instead of the one we had.

My husband’s birthday dinner was absolutely delicious! There is a beautiful outside space and we had a lovely table on a beautiful evening. Don’t forget to request sitting outside when you make your reservation. Service was great. It is expensive but considering the quality of the food not so far out of line, We have been away from the Valley for about 20 years and were so happy to return to El Chorro. Although it looks quite different, it kept the charm and the yummy monkey bread. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to go back again.

This restaurant was recommended by a neighbor and the ambiance was nice but the food was disappointing. It was close to wedding dinner/banquet food but very pricy. As we looked around every entree had the same sad green beans and over cooked tomatoes as the sides. My husbands pasta was over cooked. And worst of all were the cinnamon sticky buns served with dinner ... maybe desert or breakfast? The service was good.

We had a great dining experience to celebrate my Dad’s 90th birthday. Although he has lived in the Valley for 18 years, he had never been to El Chorro. Ron has waited on us before and continued to provide with top notch attention. The short ribs were the best (besides the sticky buns!). We will be back

From the moment we were greeted at the reception desk the night was special. We arrived early so decided to have a cocktail ... Wait staff was "sincerely enthusiastic" and made it fun ...
Dinner staff was attentive and also energetic ... Food was El Choro good ... Sitting outside with temperatures in the 90's was perfect ( misters + fans + coolers) ... ALL IN ALL a 5 star rating !!! Good Job & we will be back.
