We went to El Chorro for our anniversary. It’s our favorite restaurant in the Scottsdale area. The food did not disappoint and our waitress Denise was fun and engaging!
A wonderfully refined dining experience. The ambiance, the food and the service were beyond expectations. Highly recommended for fine dining.
El Chorro has been our special place for over 48 years from the Grosvenors, the Millers and until now.
the only downside for me was that the young lady at the reception desk did not know of the mountain lion at the front gate. I almost went back in to tell her. Pat Madden
Food was fantastic and we loved sitting outside. It would be great to have an option for a VERY small dinner salad....since everything is ala carte. we didn't want to order any of the salads offered since the meal was so big and we had sticky buns for appetizer! It would have been just too many calories!! LOL It's always a fantastic place and highly recommend to anyone visiting Scottsdale. Everything was just perfect!!!!
Casual elegance at its best. Highly recommended!!!!
Everything about this restaurant was top notch except for the music...it didn't match the quality of the restaurant..and was irritating to listen to. Soft jazz or light classical would have been more appropriate.
We plan to go there anytime we're in Scottsdale!!
Enjoyed our 2nd visit to El Chorro for Sunday brunch. Was celebrating my birthday and my son visiting from California and enjoyed the food and service immensely. Will be coming back many more times I am sure.
I wanted to end my Birthday weekend with a Celebratory Brunch and this was the spot. The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding.
We celebrated my father’s birthday there and was a great experience. The food and service were amazing.
One of our favorite restaurants with a great outdoor patio. Rated it lower than i have in the past due to the presence of vast numbers of mosquitos on the deck. We were eaten alive! Would not go on the patio again until they disappear
This was a lovely spot that was recommended to us when we traveled to Scottsdale. We were pleased with our meal and the service was very good. Our server was happy to tell us how to get to a place we wanted to visit in town. They had a large pretty patio for outside dining. Would love to go back to this restaurant.
We came first thing in the morning on a Sunday and were the first seated. The greeter, Ayleen, was
delightful and made the welcome very pleasant. Our server, Stephen, was as professional and friendly
as he could be, as were the other servers for water, etc. Everyone here is friendly and feels delighted
to welcome and serve. My meal of trout was delightful and I would order this again. The food we tasted
was ALL delicious and served with ample food for the hungry!
The ambiance of the outside is soothing and beautifully decorated. The view of Camelback Mountain
topped off the breakfast, making it a lovely way to start the morning. Thank you to all who helped make
it a memorable morning. A special thank you for the opportunity to look around at the original building
and see where the events are held, especially with the beautiful outside addition for music or eating that
would support a lovely ambiance for the gathering. What a perfect location for any beautiful event!
Great ambiance. Food service a little slow took over an hr to get food. But love the ambiance. Very expensive though.
We’ve always enjoyed our dining at El Chorro. Customers for at least 30 years! It’s a charming place. We love it!
Excellent, excellent, excellent!! What more can be said?
Everything is amazing about El Chorro's. The atmosphere, wait staff's knowledge of wine and food, creativity of the chef, and the flavors are incredible.
Everything was fabulous! Our waitress Denise was amazing, everyone loved her! We all wished we had her energy haha
Braised short ribs
I ordered from the $25 three course summer menu. I had the shrimp salad, meatloaf (yum!) and the strawberry shortcake & they were all outstanding! My husband and son had the beef stroganoff & it’s the best stroganoff I’ve ever had! So rich & creamy. This was our 2nd time to dine there & we will definitely be back!
Thank you for friends
Ordered the pancakes, they came smothered in a sweet sauce. Couldn’t eat them. Presentation was horrible & server was neglectful.
Our server, Denise, was outstanding. We love coming here when we are in town.
We celebrated our anniversary and got one of the nicest outdoor tables there. We were given special things for our anniversary which was really nice.
GREAT PLACE FOR DINING WONDERFUL FOOD GREAT AMBIENCE
El Chorro is amazing! Great food, excellent service and great indoor/ outdoor seating.
Always wonderful. Our favorite place for a special occasion. Food, service and ambiance is fantastic.
El Chorro is awesome. People are top notch. Absolutely a must if you love great food, atmosphere, and wish to spend your dollars with a locally owned non-franchise restaurant. Our favorite in the valley.
Elegant and classic. Beautiful scenery and atmosphere. Excellent service and food. Tasty margaritas and the "Oreo" dessert brought to us for our anniversary was delicious! One of my very favorite restaurants for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
After visiting in the winter months for a special occasion, I returned in the heat of summer for a business dinner. El Chorro did not disappoint. It was far quieter but the
food and service are exceptional. Denise took great care of us both in the bar for our happy hour drink and app and then again in the dining room for dinner. She’s a gem.
We celebrated my son's birthday at your venue. The food was amazing, the ambiance exceptional. I do have to mention a couple of things. Having worked in management in hospitality for 20 yrs. certain issues stood out. I asked our waitress several questions out of curiosity. She could not answer and would say let me find out and I'll let you know. I asked if you had a sommelier on property, she didn't know what that was so I explained that to her. I was interested in the scottish salmon and asked if she could explain the sauce and what it consisted of and she didn't know. I just think its important to know the menu so that when asked you cam answer on the spot. The only other issue I could smell cigarette smoke. Then my daughter in law said she could see some people using vapors outside. Although a wall separated us it was annoying. Maybe tell people on the patio they have to be several feet away from the structure. I believe this law was passed where you can't smoke too close to the actual dining venue.
Waitress DENICE WAS TERRIFIC. EXPLAINED THE HISTORY OF EL CHORRO
We were visiting from California and some friends had recommended El Chorro for the ambiance and the food and we were not disappointed! Excellent food, beautiful setting, great service! We had our 16 year old son & 13 year old daughter with us and they loved the sticky buns that come with every meal! We are returning to Arizona in March and can’t wait to eat at El Chorro again!
We went for a belated birthday celebration. Went for brunch and the food and service were excellent. I highly recommend it.
My husband took me here for my birthday and it was wonderful. The service was superb, the ambiance wonderful and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a lovely dinner.
Went for our anniversary. Great table with beautiful view of Camelback Mountain. Best caesar salad! My husband had the filet oscar, which he loved. I had the sea bass special. Good dish, but fish was pretty dry. Waitress ended up not charging us. She was really great, suggesting a wonderful wine & bringing us a dessert for our anniversary.
Would definitely recommend El Chorro!
It has been a very Long time since we have been to El Chorro. The restaurant is the pads changed a little bit but it was still a very good.
Amazing service, very attentive waitress. The views were outstanding. And the restaurant called us to follow up on our dining experience, which I really appreciated. Would definitely visit again.
This was our second visit and we thought it just as great as the first time. Great wait staff ! Love, the greeting as you come in the door. The follow up phone call always makes us feel appreciated and will keep us coming back.
We have been going to El Chorro for over thirty years. It was always on our list for special occasions as well as business lunches and dinners. The renovation was nicely done, but much of the old, Arizona charm is no longer there. It's now just like any of a number of high-end Phoenix area restaurants. The uniqueness is gone.
The menu has also undergone much change, as one would expect. Some old favorites, like the chateaubriand, has thankfully restored. The famous sticky buns also remain. Perhaps they were offering a summer menu because it seemed like very limited choices were now offered. I ordered the stroganoff expecting it to be similar as in the past, but was disappointed in its new incarnation.
The service was very good, as was the ambiance. The staff was excellent. All in all my three star rating stands.
