I could live here. The ambiance is the best in Arizona and the waitstaff is beyond terriffic. My Eggs Benedict was not up to the usual perfection this time, and I was so excited to show off El Chorro to my out of town guest. But I hold no grudges and will gladly come back over and over, since sitting on the patio is not only the best view of Camelback Mountain ever, but it's the most ideal spot in a busy city.

We are longtime valley residents and although we have long heard about El Chorro neither if us had ever had the opportunity to visit. We finally had the chance as we celebrated our wedding anniversary this past weekend. The atmosphere and ambiance are lovely. The outdoor seating is ample and very comfortable with heaters for the cooler months. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The menu is simple enough but with options that are sure to please everyone in the group.

I love el Chorro and we’ve been going for years but was recently disappointed. No longer do they offer the garnish before and charge extra for the sticky buns that have shrunken in size over the years. I’m sure they make more than enough now that they are a “wedding venue” so to scrimp on the little things to loyal customers does not sit well for a return visit.

i went here with my husband for a date night. we chose the restaurant week menu which was great. I got the butternut squash soup, steak, and the ginger beet cake dessert. My husband had the salad, steak, and brownie dessert. Both desserts were not good but the app and entree were fantastic. I would come back and get off of the real menu- there were a lot of options.

The food here is amazing. Such great atmosphere. 5 stars on all but our server. Not friendly or helpful. We had someone with celiac and he wouldn’t ask the kitchen about her options. He wasn’t helpful with wine. Overall, just rude and talked about how much better LA restaurants were than PHX. Luckily another server was helping as she noticed we weren’t taken care of.

One comment. Food was great with the atmosphere to match. The only complaint I have is the restaurant added a 20% gratuity for mediocre service. We were a party of two. This was not disclosed in the menu like most restaurants. I like to know ahead of time what my additional responsibilities are. Plus as I said just so so service.

We've eaten here several times before and found it overpriced but worth it..not this time. Our waiter was very personable but we never got the wonderful cinnamon rolls they're known for and my side dish never arrived. The misters were aimed right at us and the other tables near ours. Everyone complained because we were getting pretty wet, but they were not turned off until we were leaving. Also, the night weather was pleasant, which was why we sat outside , but the umbrellas were open and so large that we never saw a star!

We had a great dinner this past Saturday at El Chorro. We were seated in the patio just before sunset with a beautiful view of Camelback Mountain. The atmosphere was wonderful. The service was outstanding. My filet was cooked to perfection. My wife's fish was overcooked, so she brought it to our server's attention. He immediately apologized and replaced it with a much better version. Overall we were happy with the experience and will keep El Chorro at the top of our list for next time we are in that area.

Went for Restaurant Week. Food was outstanding. Had to ask for the Sticky Buns, that's what everyone knows them for. The last time we were at El Chorro we had to ask for the buns as well. My steak was perfect and melt in your mouth - outstanding. Didn't like it when they opened the shutters between the bar and the restaurant, increased the noise level and not pleasant. It was already somewhat noisy.

I’ve enjoyed El Chorro on many occasions, but the recent experience during restaurant week was underwhelming. The wedge salad was dry and bitter. The halibut was overcooked, tough and had a chemical after taste. The server was kind, but the service was very slow. All in all, dinner was a disappointment. Dessert was ok. The dish rag that was wrapped to cover the pipe in the non-functioning fountain in the center courtyard by our table was a metaphor for the lack of effort and attention to detail. (Buy a lush plant to camouflage the issue while waiting for the repair.) What happened to this restaurant? Management is certainly not putting forth the effort for which it has historically been known.

We went for my birthday dinner and, it happened to be during restaurant week. We ended up choosing off of that menu because the halibut entree sounded great. The sticky bun, soup, wine pairings and dessert were outstanding, however; both my husband and I were disappointed with the halibut( so dry we sent it back, the second piece was only a little less dry).
We had our after dinner drink outside on their beautiful patio . All in all a good experience.

Our first time dining at this exceptional restaurant. El Charro made the celebration of my husband and son in law's birthdays a wonderful memory for us all. The service was attentive and our wait staff made sure our needs were met at all times. The meals were delicious and artistically desplayed. Overall, our experience was fabulous. We look forward to another visit to El Charro soon!
