Great ambiance and good food. The constant upselling by the wait staff was annoying to the point of obnoxious. Yes, I do want a second glass of the house wine and do not appreciate an incredulous look and comment of, “Really?” Just one of several such tacky interactions. We’ll still try again, though.
We ate inside, as it was unusually cold outside. In appropriate weather, ambiance is 5-stars. Still, one of our favorite spots in The Valley.
Excellence in food and service; a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning!
Food was so-so - the bakery basket was very nice & fresh but the actual brunch was both late in coming, tepid, and poorly prepared. The potatoes were a bit hard and undercooked. The eggs were prepared competently but not particularly flavorful.
Brunch enjoyable.
Great service
We were very impressed! Aside from the first table we were seated at being shaky, they were able to accommodate us to another table. The service was excellent, and the food was amazing. It was a great belated Valentine's day celebration dinner!
The setting is beautiful. Heaters and blankets offered for this time of year appreciated. For our special occasion we were seated at one of the fireplaces which was wonderful. I was a bit disappointed in my tenderloin beef stroganoff. The flavor was excellent but the beef was overcooked and crunchy for all I could tell it was pot roast.
Great food , service & atmosphere. Wonderful for any occasion & outside seating
One of the best and oldest restaurants in Scottsdale. They have a great happy hour, excellent brunch and fantastic dinner selections. I highly recommend it!
Our wait person was exceptional & the food was delicious. We would love it if they would bring back the live music on the patio.
We had a great anniversary dinner. My wife says it's the best we have had in 28 years. The service was great and she loved the ambiance.
Great spot to bring guests from out of town/ country. Food is always on point, great atmosphere and outstanding service! Only suggestion would be to have espresso machine for end of the mean drink for Europeans :)
A must visit restaurant!!!
Food was pretty good (we got the fried lobster, prime rib, and shrimp with grits). I thought the friend lobster was over priced (~$50) for how it tasted but the two entrees were good. Drinks were fabulous especially the old fashion. Honestly though the worst part about our night was the service. Our waitress never came to check on us and we tried to find her to grab a second drink throughout the majority of our meal and finally just gave up. She was no where to be seen for most of our dinner and never even came to ask us how our food was (someone else dropped it off). I’m not sure if this is common for this place but we ran into a friend of ours who goes there often and said it’s expected from this particular person. If you go just avoid an older lady with blonde hair and glasses as she’s terrible and definitely didn’t make our special occasion feel special.
Perfectly enjoyable Valentines Day meal. Only complaint, if we are being picky, is that I thought the portion for the chateaubriand was a bit small for the price. Service and quality of food were top notch.
Food was extremely good and the service was excellent
We had a great after Valentines Day dinner there outside under the heaters!
Restaurant was amazing. Our server, Joseph from Chicago, was fantastic. Very professional, knowledgable and personable. The ambiance was very charming and it felt like we were taken back in time to old Phoenix. We loved it and can't wait to return for another fabulous time.
We enjoyed our evening very much, although we did think the food, though delicious, was a bit overpriced. We must say our waiter, Ryan, deserves a TEN rating...we was knowledgeable, professional, helpful and very friendly...he made the evening for us, and was the best we have ever had at El Chorro....thank you!
Valentine’s day
Great night, we had an enjoyable Valentine's dinner! All around recommend.
Valentine’s Day date
Excellent waiter. Lou I believe. Steak and Shrimp delicious.
It was my Birthday celebration with my besties!
We wanted to sit on the patio and our waiter was so nice, he brought us extra heaters. It was so beautiful outside we didn’t want to sit inside.
Our food was excellent, I had the Broasted chicken, my friends had the trout and salad with roasted chicken.
We had the Charcuterie, it too was excellent. There were four of us and it was more than enough with leftovers. The freshest cheeses and meats. Delicious olives etc.
Our drinks were excellent as well as the Birthday desert.
We could barely eat it we were so full,
El Chorro is one of my favorite restaurants.
I can’t wait to go back!
The broasted chicken reminds me of my trips to Italy!!
The mashed potatoes and green beans are still on my mind!
My only complaint is a $3 up charge for a tequila I ordered ‘neat’. When I inquired, the waiter said it was because they pour 1/2 oz. extra of liquor for drinks ordered neat. He added “ it’s done everywhere”. I seldom have seen this (and we’re frequent ‘fine diners’). I would have no problem if it was clearly explained on the menu or the waiter had mentioned it when I ordered. He did graciously delete the up charge from the final check.
Excellent service, attentive, but not annoying. Great fresh margaritas. Wish we could have been outside, but weather didn't cooperate. Enjoyed our sea bass and beef stroganoff entrees. Salads are really large...wish we'd split one instead of each ordering. Very enjoyable evening. We'll be back!
Perfect day on the patio!! Great service and delicious food!!!
Very disappointed. El Chorro used to be a landmark. Now it's simply a tourist trap. Terrible service, not wait staff, but kitchen. One hour wait for food.
Great trout- and sticky buns. Everything there is excellent. Beautiful view of Camelback mountain and grounds. Service is top notch and very attentive.
While the food and server (Joe from Chicago used to work at Disney) were both really fantastic, I’m consistently surprised and disappointed there is no espresso machine. For such a hot spot and fave spot of ours, it seems so antiquated to lack that option.
Food and service excellent! Eating on the patio was very nice with heaters and blankets provided‼️
Friends in from out of town. Great evening, excellent food, service and setting!
We are Az natives but had never been to El Chorro. I’m so glad we finally went! Everything was just lovely! The food, the views, the grounds, the servers, the fire pits, the offer of a blanket. Loved everything!
Excellent as always!
We made reservations on a week night when they weren't very busy. We waited at our table for 20 minutes when we finally waved down a waiter and asked if we could have some water. Another 5 minutes went by when a waiter came over and said I don't know who your waiter is but I will take care of you. We waited a long time for our meal. The flash fired losbster bites were very good but pricey at $55. The rest of the meal was just ok. Our total bill was over $200 for 2 people plus tip. The place had been remodeled and lost it's old charm we loved. Just not impressed with our experience.
Reservation system excellent. Parking service excellent. welcome to restaurant excellent.
seated in "schoolroom," but hostess only asked if we wanted inside or outside seating. Room was unacceptably noisy. Hostess didn't indicate that outside seating was comfortable, despite cold evening weather. Cost too much to eat in a school cafeteria atmosphere.
Staff accommodated my (2) table change requests on site. We were impressed with our server Lou at table #300 who endeared himself to us
It may have been a bad night for the chef, but my roasted chicken was extremely dry and my husbands steak was mediocre.
One of our favorite restaurants. Our waitress Denise was amazing..., personable & very efficient.
My Caesar salad was less than good. Everything else was great.
I live here and when I have friends visit from other states, this is my go to place to show them the beauty that Arizona has to offer. The cinnamon buns are world renown. The food is always fabulous.
