Located just beyond the West Loop’s famed “restaurant row,” El Che Steakhouse & Bar is Chicago's go-to destination for beef, wine and live-fire cooking. The restaurant is modeled after Executive Chef/Partner John Manion’s fascination with Argentinean asados: traditional backyard barbecues surrounding the flame. A 12-foot custom-built grill serves as the centerpiece for this downtown asado which embraces South American-tinged meats, seasonal vegetables, fresh seafood, and of course, steak. El Che provided the best food and beverage experience we have ever had in our lifetime! The atmosphere, the food, the wine...it was a slice of heaven! Dante was amazing, Alex was incredible, Liz was fantastic! The wine list is amazing and as we learned from the CBS News Saturday Morning segment, is all South American wine. Alex introduced us to the 100 point Malbec and explained the history behind the wine. He also shared more information about the Wine Program which was fantastic! Dante was amazing with his service. He perfectly explained the courses, provided guidance on how we would spend the evening and was always there when we needed him. Liz was at the front door and greeted us with her warm smile. She was friendly, accommodating and lovely to speak with about our experience. Thank you Team for the Heaven on Earth experience. We will see you at some point in December!

The food was exceptionally good. Our server, Dante, was beyond outstanding. My only minor critique was that the noise level was a bit high for pleasant conversation, but then again, we were there at peak hour and the place was super full. I would definitely eat there again!!

We were a party of 5 celebrating my daughter’s and niece’s birthday. Our server Nino was wonderful. Drinks were great. However, our entrees were a miss for 2 out of the 5. The filet was outstanding. The ribeye center cut not so much. For the price I expected more. Also, the girls shared a molten lava cake for their birthday treat. Everyone else ordered their own dessert. Would it kill the restaurant to comp the $10 cake for the birthday girls? And no I don’t expect everything to be free, but we are talking about one $10 cake for two people. So $10 out of a $450 plus meal. The little things matter.

This is our second time here. Our first time was a 10/10. This time - every dish, including the party steak which is the most expensive steak, was cold. Disappointing when we were talked into that specific dish.

First time here, we had an excellent server and host was very helpful as well. Food was excellent - our only complaint was our $100 bottle of wine was really warm. We did get a chiller and chilled it down . Otherwise it was a lovely experience for our anniversary !

We loved everything about this restaurant. My boyfriend and I made it a date night and was very pleased with our dishes as well as the drinks. I ordered the fish and not a bite was left on the plate which is a first for me when ordering a whole fish😄

Everything we ate was amazing! We started with Italian beef empanadas and oysters, and then the Party steak was absolutely mind-blowing with how good it was. We also had the beef fat fries that were delicious even when they got cold.I was so full and couldn't stop eating. For dessert the molten lava chocolate cake. We will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes.

Great place! Couldn’t make it past the appetizers without filling up. Had the Provoleta (kinda like saganaki, without flambeau, and with tomato sauce topping), beef empanadas, sweetbreads, and bone marrow. Cocktails and wine were great. Service outstanding and definitely a happening vibe. Steaks we saw on other tables looked amazing. Looking forward to going back.

Our server Erika was so rude we had to close out with her before we even ordered our food. We then moved over to the bar where we had a much better experience. The food was okay, definitely not worth the rude initial experience.

We live in the West Loop, so my wife and I are biased, no doubt. That written, El Che Bar is up there with any restaurant in the city. Food, wine list, atmosphere and exceptional service every time. We should have direct deposit here. They never disappoint. You simply have to go!

The staff was very attentive. The food was excellent and the drinks were perfect! I took my husband here for his birthday and he thoroughly enjoyed it! I would highly recommend!

Food and service were both absolutely amazing!!! The food was delicious and you have to get the seafood platter for 2, it will be absolutely worth it! I 100% recommend!!!

After seeing CBS Saturday Morning ‘The Dish’ on 10/07. I was really excited to to make a reservation. But much to my dismay it was disappointing experience. The waitress and Old Fashioned cocktails at $28 each were outstanding but the additional waitstaff was poorly trained, the ribeye steak was tough and the noise level did not make for a pleasant dining experience. We may try it again for lunch…but never for dinner.

The social media platforms cant convey what it’s really like. The quaintness of the place was its own vibe. Granted, we got reservations for an early dinner. But we were there long enough to see people filing in and enjoying themselves. With bursts of laughter to hearing patrons thanking the staff for an experience of dinning pleasure. It was just a rad place all around. Scott was our waiter and he was very knowledgeable and graceful with explaining things when we asked. What floored me was one of their beef suppliers is from our home town! Had a little pride with that. We will be back very soon.

Great steaks and seafood with a South American slant. We had the surf and turf and it did not disappoint. Pricey but what you would expect from a high end steakhouse.
