El Che was AMAZING. One of the best steakhouses we have ever been to in Chicago. The meat was cooked to perfection and slid off the bone. Highly recommend this restaurant!
We were there celebrating a birthday! Everything was perfect! Can't wait to go back again!
The wedge salad was awesome. The rib eye mouth watering. I would definitely return.
A minimal and disappointing menu. Server was great, very gracious and understanding when we decided not to stay. Headed over to GT Prime and had a wonderful dinner there.
The wedge salad is the best I've had (that I can remember specifically of course!). Really great ambiance. Perfect date spot.
Ordered the HI Yeah drink, which was very delicious.
The shrimp (appetizer) were ok, would not recommend.
The chicken empanadas were pretty good. Especially with the chimichurri aioli sauce.
The Ribeye steak was amazing. It was tender and melted in your mouth.
Would recommend the restaurant just not the shrimps.
We had a wonderful time at El Che. The service was fantastic and we will definitely be coming back again! Definitely recommend the garlic frites and the meat platter!
Wonderful location, ambience and service and always love El Che for a nice dinner in the West Loop.
Love this place. We live in the neighborhood and should have direct deposit here!
The food was amazing! We got the Oysters, Bone Marrow, Chicken Empanadas, and then the Bone-In Ribeye. Everything we had was delicious and we will be coming back.
This place knocked it out of the park on all fronts: ambiance, music, service, and most importantly the drinks and food! This was one of the best meals I've had in Chicago!
Excellent food, service, and cocktails. Argentinian & South American flavors. Delicious.
Great for date night or dinner with friends. The food and drinks are fantastic and the staff is outstanding.
The entire meal was FANTASTIC, service, food, atmosphere were all perfect
Unfortunately this was the worst steak I have had in Chicago. Not seared, cold and a poor cut of meat. My wife's steak was also bad. I am not sure how they get such positive reviews, there was nothing special about this place and I left very disappointed. There are so many great steakhouses in Chicago, I would advise you to pick a different one.
If you're craving a reasonably authentic Argentine parillada, look no further. The El Che staff went out of their way to make our experience special, in spite of the pandemic. Can't wait to return and try other grilled specialties.
Such a great experience, we almost forgot that we were in the middle of a pandemic. The staff was extremely attentive, wearing masks, social distancing and cleaning surfaces constantly. The patio was beautifully set up for a relaxing outdoor dining experience and the food was just just as good as before the world exploded. Our steak was cooked to medium-rare perfection and don't even get me started on the chimichurri. Do not skip out on the veggies, every vegetable dish is just as good as the expertly butchered meats. The summer squash was expertly charred and just tasted like "summer". And the empanadas were a great starter and the crust was flaky and crisp on the outside and doughy on the inside. Thank you for making this such an perfect evening for us!
Our food and server were really great. Personally had a really great experience.
Incredible steak, unfortunately only the patio is open right now
Dined on the patio. Despite the limited seats and pared down menu, food and service was still fantastic. Had a wonderful seasonal special and the empanadas are still the best in Chicago.
I have to be honest I don’t normally write reviews. Working in the industry I always thought of it as a counter active means of achieving the ultimate goal of voicing your opinion toward the services/product you’ve received from a restaurant. Meaning I’ve always felt that showing your disapproval or approval through tipping percentage, talking with the server, or speaking to a manager at a convenient time in regards to my experience have been my outlets. Whether or not the restaurant was good, bad,or average.
That said in this case I gave a 20% tip however never really had an opportunity to strike up any conversation as there were no table touches by management nor did the server really ever ask... How is everything.
The meal opened great with simple dishes. We did the empanadas (both types), the oysters, and the quail. All had hit the mark. However my date was never ask if she would like another cocktail for the entire duration of the meal. I mean there were 6 table with one server, one Buser, one food runner, one manager (I think), and a host, and no one asked if she would like another drink.
For the main coarse I had my heart set on the sampler (Parrillada) due to its diversity. The sweet breads, chorizo, blood sausage, and bone marrow were very well executed, I brought the left over sausage home and I cannot wait for tomorrow to make them for breakfast. The sweetbreads were some of the best stand alone versions I’ve ever had. They weren’t even fried!!! However the strip and the short rib seemed to have no love put into them at all. They were completely over cooked and when it comes to this style of short ribs, being chewy is to be expected. But there was no seasoning of char and the quality of meat seemed to be very average as well.
Also when did we start charging for refills of iced tea? Is that a thing now?
Sat out side nice street setting
The food was cold, waitress only came to attend to us once. I say it’s a tourist trap. Don’t waste your money on this place. It’s super expensive to not get hot food
The steak was awesome, the rest of what we order was so so.. I was very disappointed in their Chimi Churi.. Neither were very good.
Loved their sampler! Best sweetbread I’ve ever had. Thank you
Great food! Love this place
We really really liked this place!
The food was super good.....it is a steak house and there's only one fish option - a salmon dish which was very good - cooked perfect. The 'boys' got a huge meat platter and they both liked that. Both the red and white wines were very good. We will definitely return.......our server was very attentive and nice.
It was very good but I had higher expectations.
Delicious! Every menu item is incredible!
An absolute gem of a restaurant. Quail and were some of the best I've had, and Inorder them whenever they are on a menu. Drinks were creative and matched the overall menu very well. Service was top notch as well. A true standout when compared to the run of the mill steakhouses.
Highly recommend, delicious food and incredible service!
Awesome experience all around. The parrillada was outstanding. When the waiter saw that our bone marrow portion was on the smaller side (which we didn’t even notice), he brought out a second one on the house. We started to order entrees for dinner in addition to the parrillada and the waiter told us that we should hold off as we had plenty of food coming. Definitely appreciated and valued the service.
We had the Parradilla - not bad but not great - very overpriced for a few bites of each type of meat. half of the plate was e sausage which is inexpensive meat so why $90/plate? - not worth going...go to Tango Sur; much better for much less....
Fantastic all the way around. My wife and i live in the neighborhood and this is one of our go-to spots!
It was our first time and although the place was very crowded, our reservation was honored, service was outstanding! The food was delicious! The sever let me order something custom at her recommendation and it was sooooo good- the gnocchi with mushroom sauce instead of bolognese. (I know- I was eating veg at a steakhouse- but it was truly delicious.) The fries were amazing as well. Also, it was my partner’s birthday and the server overheard me saying how much we would love to try the rum tres leches cake. She brought it to us with a sparkler. So thoughtful. We will be back for sure!
Tables are too small and steak overpriced for quality/cut. Just like a regular grilled strip steak - nothing particularly unique. Apps were good and service was very good. Probably wouldn’t return.
The empanadas were wonderful and the parrillada was generous and delicious.
The food was surprisingly poor. Had the hanger steak. Told it was a "crowd pleaser." It was VERY tough. Other than the food, the place is really nice.
Steak was amazing!! Loved the fries as well!!
