Great food and drinks! Really enjoy coming here when we get the chance. That wedge salad is amazing!
They just revamped their wine list and it’s PERFECTION!
El Che is a magical place. The food was great and the wine was wonderful. I actually got stood up and the host was so kind. They didn’t rush me out regardless of taking a four top to myself and even treated me to a drink. Their team made my night !
I’m looking forward to going back! Highly recommend and beyond grateful to the El Che team for making me comfortable in a very embarrassing and uncomfortable situation.
Food and service is amazing!! This staff is above and beyond.
Lovely dinner and excellent staff. My daughter have and incredible Birthday 🎉
Honestly- the most divine service I’ve received in longer than I can recall. Food- exceptional, but the personalized service and the warm welcome back was unmatched.
I am delighted to give El Che my first official review because, quite frankly, it’s never been worth it.
The entire experience came together in the most savory way, and left me wanting more.
I’ve been a million places but this one, I’ll never forget. I’m already planning my next experience, and will be sure to introduce my fellow foodies to dine with me.
El Che is one of my favorite places in Chicago. Happy hour is an astounding deal. Amazing vibe and excellent service.
OUTSTANDING OUTSTANDING! WARM AND WELCOME. THE GRILL IS AMAZING!
An an=mazing restaurant everyone working there loves what they do and it shows. The food, cocktails, wine and service are stellar. You need to go here!
One of the best steakhouses I've been to: the food, the drinks, the service, the ambience... everything was fantastic. I owe a lot of that to my server, Emily C, who is a fantastic bartender.
I had the parrillada, which is a huge meat sampler plate that could easily be shared by two people, and creamed kale (even if you don't like kale, which I do, this is amazing). I also had the Pickle Rick cocktail, the Pisco Picante (which I'm craving right now), and Emily recommended a red wine to me from Argentina that was really well balanced (not too dry or sweet). Everything was delicious, so hats off to the chef and their giant wood-fire grill. It's been two days and I still feel full from this meal.
I was so excited to check this place out and I'm so glad I did! I highly recommend this place to fellow steak-lovers.
Best combinattion Chicago premium beff coked whith Argentine parrilla. One must in Chicago.
Thrilled and delighted with our meal. El Che continues to deliver an outstanding experience. We’ve been thrilled on every visit. Chef John and the team are great.
El Che is our favorite steakhouse in the city, so we were thrilled that they were open the weekend before my birthday when we planned to celebrate and our original high-end reservation fell through. The empanadas, lobster tail, filet, ribeye, broccolini and garlic frites were divine, with a couple amazing cocktails from the bartender and a delicious bottle of Malbec recommended by the resident "wine guy." We felt safe, taken care of, and so satisfied for a better price point than many other steakhouses we've been to. There's nothing snobby or stuffy about El Che, and the atmosphere is just the icing on the cake to an outstanding food and beverage selection. You can't go wrong here!
Hi Kara, Thank you for celebrating your birthday with us! We appreciate your kind words and five-star review. Your continued support means to much to us. We hope to see you again real soon. Best, Alex Cuper, General Manager
Wedge salad was soaked in dressing, everything on the parrillado over or under seasoned and got cold fast. Sweet potatoes were burnt and couldn't even bite through it.
El Che was AMAZING. One of the best steakhouses we have ever been to in Chicago. The meat was cooked to perfection and slid off the bone. Highly recommend this restaurant!
We were there celebrating a birthday! Everything was perfect! Can't wait to go back again!
The wedge salad was awesome. The rib eye mouth watering. I would definitely return.
A minimal and disappointing menu. Server was great, very gracious and understanding when we decided not to stay. Headed over to GT Prime and had a wonderful dinner there.
The wedge salad is the best I've had (that I can remember specifically of course!). Really great ambiance. Perfect date spot.
Ordered the HI Yeah drink, which was very delicious.
The shrimp (appetizer) were ok, would not recommend.
The chicken empanadas were pretty good. Especially with the chimichurri aioli sauce.
The Ribeye steak was amazing. It was tender and melted in your mouth.
Would recommend the restaurant just not the shrimps.
We had a wonderful time at El Che. The service was fantastic and we will definitely be coming back again! Definitely recommend the garlic frites and the meat platter!
Wonderful location, ambience and service and always love El Che for a nice dinner in the West Loop.
Love this place. We live in the neighborhood and should have direct deposit here!
The food was amazing! We got the Oysters, Bone Marrow, Chicken Empanadas, and then the Bone-In Ribeye. Everything we had was delicious and we will be coming back.
This place knocked it out of the park on all fronts: ambiance, music, service, and most importantly the drinks and food! This was one of the best meals I've had in Chicago!
Excellent food, service, and cocktails. Argentinian & South American flavors. Delicious.
Great for date night or dinner with friends. The food and drinks are fantastic and the staff is outstanding.
The entire meal was FANTASTIC, service, food, atmosphere were all perfect
Unfortunately this was the worst steak I have had in Chicago. Not seared, cold and a poor cut of meat. My wife's steak was also bad. I am not sure how they get such positive reviews, there was nothing special about this place and I left very disappointed. There are so many great steakhouses in Chicago, I would advise you to pick a different one.
If you're craving a reasonably authentic Argentine parillada, look no further. The El Che staff went out of their way to make our experience special, in spite of the pandemic. Can't wait to return and try other grilled specialties.
Such a great experience, we almost forgot that we were in the middle of a pandemic. The staff was extremely attentive, wearing masks, social distancing and cleaning surfaces constantly. The patio was beautifully set up for a relaxing outdoor dining experience and the food was just just as good as before the world exploded. Our steak was cooked to medium-rare perfection and don't even get me started on the chimichurri. Do not skip out on the veggies, every vegetable dish is just as good as the expertly butchered meats. The summer squash was expertly charred and just tasted like "summer". And the empanadas were a great starter and the crust was flaky and crisp on the outside and doughy on the inside. Thank you for making this such an perfect evening for us!
Our food and server were really great. Personally had a really great experience.
Incredible steak, unfortunately only the patio is open right now
Dined on the patio. Despite the limited seats and pared down menu, food and service was still fantastic. Had a wonderful seasonal special and the empanadas are still the best in Chicago.
I have to be honest I don’t normally write reviews. Working in the industry I always thought of it as a counter active means of achieving the ultimate goal of voicing your opinion toward the services/product you’ve received from a restaurant. Meaning I’ve always felt that showing your disapproval or approval through tipping percentage, talking with the server, or speaking to a manager at a convenient time in regards to my experience have been my outlets. Whether or not the restaurant was good, bad,or average.
That said in this case I gave a 20% tip however never really had an opportunity to strike up any conversation as there were no table touches by management nor did the server really ever ask... How is everything.
The meal opened great with simple dishes. We did the empanadas (both types), the oysters, and the quail. All had hit the mark. However my date was never ask if she would like another cocktail for the entire duration of the meal. I mean there were 6 table with one server, one Buser, one food runner, one manager (I think), and a host, and no one asked if she would like another drink.
For the main coarse I had my heart set on the sampler (Parrillada) due to its diversity. The sweet breads, chorizo, blood sausage, and bone marrow were very well executed, I brought the left over sausage home and I cannot wait for tomorrow to make them for breakfast. The sweetbreads were some of the best stand alone versions I’ve ever had. They weren’t even fried!!! However the strip and the short rib seemed to have no love put into them at all. They were completely over cooked and when it comes to this style of short ribs, being chewy is to be expected. But there was no seasoning of char and the quality of meat seemed to be very average as well.
Also when did we start charging for refills of iced tea? Is that a thing now?
Sat out side nice street setting
The food was cold, waitress only came to attend to us once. I say it’s a tourist trap. Don’t waste your money on this place. It’s super expensive to not get hot food
The steak was awesome, the rest of what we order was so so.. I was very disappointed in their Chimi Churi.. Neither were very good.
Loved their sampler! Best sweetbread I’ve ever had. Thank you
Great food! Love this place
