What Insiders Are Saying
The best Mexican food in Fremont is at El Camino, and you should eat it on their outdoor deck.
Last minute friends visit in a beautiful spot with super friendly staff and great food. Guac & chips a must and fish tacos were awesome
One of my fav places in Fremont!!! Must have the salmon :)
Dinner was great but we had to wait about 15 minutes past our reservation time. The food more than made up for the wait.
Our favorite restaurant!
It was great.
Great service and food. We had some dietary restrictions and the waiter was very helpful and accommodating and the meal was fantastic!
Worst dining experience ever. Waited 2 hours for our food. The waiter forgot to put in our order, but even when he acknowledged the error, we still waited 30 minutes to get our food. Had to ask for chips and salsa! The manager didn’t even stop by to apologize. They comped the meal, but it was such a disappointment, the experience ruined the evening. Sadly, I will never go back.
Worst Mexican food I’ve ever had......... although the service was good.
Will not be returning.
We have been going here for at least the last 5 years, and almost every Friday in the Winters for the last 3, and find the consistently cordial and friendly people a pleasure. This trip we learned that the host, Freddo, was a pastry chef in Chicago in a past life, and pulls together some of the most interesting desserts we've had almost anywhere, the tres leches is amazing, and the Chocolate mousse cake is perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Another win for El Camino in our eyes.
Have been here twice now and always love the patio seating with the fireplace. It's a wonderful ambience for lunch with friends. Not too noisy so it's great for conversations. The menu has something for everyone, including a broad drink menu, and the food is delicious! The service is very good with friendly, helpful wait staff. My experience both times was above average and I'll return again when I get an opportunity.
Way. Too. Loud. Friday night rush hour, this is to be expected, but it was not good for the social visit I was hoping to have with visiting guests as we had to shout at each other for 60m to hear our conversation(s). Service was ok (waiter used memory vs. paper for the order, and it was fast and flawless.) However, we had to ask for more chips, and response time was a bit slow. Overall: great staff, but need to choose quieter time for dinner w a sane conversation level.
A delicious meal with great ambience. We had a lovely experience and will definitely be back.
Always love El Camino. It’s our go-to when we don’t want to cook at home.
It was great and glad I made reservation as they were packed full. Food very good !
Good Mexican food, ie, 3 kinds of chipotle, nice patio setting, pleasantly served all around.
Delicious, once again. Mole was amazing. Food (camarones diablo) was a bit spicy for kids - we were warned, but it was still a bit hot for the 9 year old. Will keep that in mind for next time. Friendly wait staff. We felt cared for.
El Camino is a nice place, good food and a pleasure, not to mention 3 kinds of chipotle.
A really great Mexican restaurant. We have been coming for years. There was an ownership transition a while back where some of the staff purchased the restaurant. The quality of everything remains the same or better. So good. Have the shrimp quesadilla, it could change your life. Margaritas are also really good. Mole's are great. Biztec is yummers. Plantains. I could go on ...
The kitchen (chef) here is a Seattle gem. Extraordinary Mexican cuisine.
Great place for a dinner out with the guys. Our server was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. It was a tough decision but the mole was definitely the way to go!
Been a regular customer for more than a decade, and some of the servers are still there from the beginning. Such a laid-back and friendly place, but quick service, wonderful and out-of-the-ordinary Mexican food, and reliably good scratch margaritas. They clearly know what they’re doing.
Love this place. Great mix of engaging environment and great food.
We really enjoyed sitting in the back 'sun' room, as it has a great feel and ambiance. Everything was great, until we were ready to pay the bill and leave. It was a business lunch and we were on a time limit. However, a large group was seated and that seemed to derail the efficient service.
Really fun place with great atmosphere and delicious food. Loved everything we had. Margaritas could have been a little stronger, but then again, they can always be a little stronger!
Best ceviche EVER!!! My hubby and I were on vacation and found this adorable little spot. We had lunch on the back porch and were very impressed with everything. OH Ya, my husband said the Mole sauce was fantastic. GO.
I LOVE El Camino. Love scratch margaritas. The BEST. The food is to die for. I have and will continue to bring my friends and out of town friends and family. YJ
Great guacamole, top shelf maragaritas (fresh m scratch) and excellent shrimp tacos.
This place has gone downhill because I used to come here with my husband before we had our kid (8 years ago). This is the only Mexican restaurant where the chips were abysmal and no salsa was served, despite the fact that we had to pay for them. The happy hour was a joke ($1 off regular draft beer and $1 off house margaritas) We waited forever for our waitress to make her initial greeting. Our drinks and food took forever. My friend had to leave for an appointment, but the waitress walked by our check w/cash multiple times. Although I work close by, I'll opt for any of the many other dining/drinking establishments in Fremont.
I love the ambiance, the patio is fresh, cozey cushy seating, very nice selection of delicious Mexican chipotles, I go for the tacos, pork (carnitas) and beef from steak cuts (carne asada).
There is no hokey, touristy mariachi background music, just respectful presentation of our neighbors cusine - fine chow, nice people.
Amazing food! Highly recommend El Camino after taking a Theo tour.
We have been coming to El Camino for the past 24 years. LOVE the bistec, since moving away from Seattle we make it a point to dine at El Camino when we are in town and look forward to our favorite meal!
Our waiter was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable and engaging. Everyone should be lucky enough to have her as their server.
I'll start by saying the service and the space was phenomenal. The staff was kind, and attentive and the outdoor patio was perfect on a summer night.
I've been trying my hardest to find a good Mexican food spot in the Seattle area and I have to say, this is the worst of those I've tried (even outside of the Seattle area). The food lacked true depth, and was subpar at best.
We started with an order of chips and salsa. The homemade chips were not warm and were undercooked. They had a chewiness to them which tends to happen when it's not cooked long enough. The salsa was a simple tomato one, but did not have any real flavor. Plus - the guac was decent and dairy free. Win there.
My husband ordered be too shelf margarita (20$), which was probably one of the most disappointing cocktails we've ever had. It was an interesting mix of liquor, but missed the mark. It tasted heavily of low quality tequila. It was made with a respado which should be smooth, this was not.
For dinner, we each got tacos - one shrimp, one fish. The fish was greasy, the tortillas were served cold, the black beans on the side were undercooked. I'm also fairly certain the rice is minute rice. It has the texture of dehydrated and not fresh. Everything we ate was bland.
Overall, it was an underwhelming experience. So much so that I decided to write a review which i normally wouldn't do. Super disappointed. Now I know - never again and I shall continue my quest!
Always great food. They’ve gotten our food mixed up both times we’ve gone and portions are fairly small though. Other than that, this place is amazing.
Best Mexican foods and widest selection in the Fremont. The patio is airy and charming, I go there often for a late lunch and a few drinks with friends.
Great music, best guac’, addicting drinks-for me, that is the trifecta! Can’t wait to go back!
Very nice, uncrowded patio setting, server even turned down lunch music, very good molé poblano amoung many choices if all sorts.
My lady friend just texted me, she wants to go back. So see you soon.
Just seemed a bit rushed. We had just finished our main course and server interrupted to ask if we needed anything and when we said no handed us our bill. It was a little at 8 pm and not busy, so maybe he wanted to go home.
Wonderful as usual! This place is in my top 5 in Seattle. Great ambiance and a fun/festive environment!
We had a few kids and the servers were extra patient- thanks! Just coulda used a little more elbow room around the table we were crammed into.
