El Camino Mexican Kitchen
Bright, engaging So. Cal. chill gives way to PDG’s spin on imaginative Mexican fare. Inviting aesthetic peppered with pops of color and a contemporary comfort. Fresh and fun cocktail offerings are anchored by a selection of over 100 tequilas and mescals, while a refreshingly eager and excited service team round out our newest North Wilmington offering.
The only slight miss was overcooking the Carne Asada just by a little
Otherwise, awesome. Definitely will return.
Second visit. Margaritas and their tequila selection is worth a visit. The bar vibe was excellent.
It’s expensive. The food was so so, but the ambiance, drinks and service made us want to go back again for another chance.
Great place. Having spent time in Mexico, my expectations are always high and this is the first in Delaware to actually deliver! Authentic, delicious! Margaritas very good also and interesting versions! I had the up in smoke which was made with mezcal and was smokey, refreshing deliciousness! My daughter had the jalapeño cucumber; my son, the classic; both also delicious Great selection of tequilas. Need to come back and experiment! Decor also great! Modern and fresh take on Mexican!
Went for a nice relaxing dinner and they paced it perfectly. We felt welcomed and unrushed. All enjoyed our tacos and recommendations from our server (try the pork ones). Also their cucumber jalapeño margarita is the best margarita I’ve had outside of Disney World which is a high bar. Can’t wait to go back.
We had great food, good service in a fun atmosphere. The food was very tasty and not overly spicy.
The atmosphere is wonderfully done - open, airy and well decorated. The drinks are delicious. The nachos will blow you away. The entrees seem somewhat less successful. My chicken tacos were ok - the sauce on top was where it got most of the flavor but it was applied sparingly. My husbands sandwich was tasty but sort of a gut bomb.
Nice trendy atmosphere. Margarita was 3.5/5. Food was not terribly great. Would expect better for the price. Seems like it'd be a great place for a happy hour.
They are doing a great job for a newly opened restaurant! The food was excellent but took awhile to come out. I would not recommend if you are in any rush. I was impressed with the decor and the friendly servers throughout the restaurant. I will be back and hope they will get the pace for food and drink delivery down as time goes on.
Food fair at best. Bland. Portions small. Drinks good. Nice environment
Nice looking and clean restaurant, great bar which is positioned somewhat away from the tables and booths. The food was very good and the guacamole was the best, I had the chicken burrito which was large and very full, I had to take half home with me. I was pleasantly surprised to see their Cosmo Blanco on the menu which I always get at Capers and Lemons. Love all the Platinum Group restaurants and this is definitely another winner for them.
We decided to celebrate our anniversary with Mexican, and fortunately, El Camino had just opened. The food is not what we see in the traditional northeast Mexican restaurants. We were presented with the traditional chips & salsa (the salsa was remind of what we had in Mexico). Our main courses were very good, we would highly recommend the Sea Bass and the Chilis Rellenos.
Service was excellent, very attentive but not overbearing.
The atmosphere is very light and airy
This was our first visit. This is not your usual Mexican restaurant. The food was very good (freshly prepared) and the service was good as well. The menu is much more limited than a typical Mexican restaurant.
Platinum Dining Group has it down! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. It’s a formula that shows in all of their restaurants.
We enjoyed the nachos and margaritas.
Not your usual Mexican restaurant - more upscale. Pretty spicy. Lovely decor. Great bar area.
Visited on a Friday night and as expected, it was very busy. It was our second time at El Camino. Food was good but we enjoyed our first meal more. Short rib burrito was fine but I didn’t think it was worth $16. Service was very disappointing. Nothing we ordered was brought out together so someone at our table was always the odd man without a drink, app or meal. Also the wait for food was longer than it should have been. Not we have experienced at other Platinum Dining Group locations. Reported to management at the end of our meal and got the standard rehearsed apology. Walked out feeling a bit ripped off.
El Camino has a great ambiance and delicious food! Must try the nachos!
This is the 4th time I have been to this restaurant and I arrived early to meet my sister and newphew. I ordered my normal tequilla drink which the tequilla is $13. I got my bill and was charged $16.50 and asked the gal bartender why as it’s $13 and she said to me “ well I gave you a shot and a half and charged you more bc you wanted over the rocks” I said to her that’s my call not yours and I did not ask for that and she told me well that’s what I did and we do that here”. I was appalled and she was unprofessional. If this is what they train their bartenders to do it is horrible. I like this higher end tequilla and only expect to pay what is advertised on menu as I’ve done other times at this restaurant. We won’t be going back.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, wonderful addition to Wilmington
Everything was great. The restaurant is beautiful. Food was very good. Service was great.
Great service from Drew! We were looking for salad options & we were able to order one of the salads offered at lunch!
Our lunch at El Camino was fantastic. I had the spicy chicken salad and my wife had a different salad. Both were awesome. Guac was really good. A lot of natural light as well which made the place seem very vibrant. We will definitely be going back!
Dinner and apps were amazing. The margaritas are like no other! Brian is the area manager and we love him. We WiLL be back!
It’s still newish but no problem with service, reservations or all those “just opened “ issues. Nicely decorated and a good size bar area. They have a great drink menu and I’d go back for drinks and salsa or maybe an appetizer. However, I wasn’t thrilled with the food. The ceviche didn’t have much tuna in it. Had the queso, which was very pretty, but almost flavorless. Finally, the carnitas tacos I had were just plain greasy. The plate the taco servers were on was easily covered in grease. Really disappointed and won’t be hurrying to go back.
The latest dining experience from the Platinum Dining group is El Camino -- a Tex-Mex theme.
Food was very fresh and creative twists on what you would expect from a Tex-Mex restaurant. Serving sizes were ample to large, and quality of ingredients was very high. Some nice twists on drinks such as Margaritas as well. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. Our table of 4 shared the Nachos as an appetizer (virtually a meal in itself for all of us). For main entree, I had the Sea Bass Entree (excellent), others in my party had different types of their Tacos (all noted how good they were)! Will definitely return to try some of the other dishes.
Food was delicious! Staff was extremely helpful & pleasant. Would definitely go again!
Having no cell signal was only issue. I’m not on Facebook so I couldn’t tap into your WiFi either.
Margaritas were very good and our waitress was very attentive, but the food was marginal. I had 2 tacos and 3 margaritas and my bill was $55. The tacos were bland.
It took exceptionally long to get our dinner & our drinks.
Drinks are phenomenal. Chili Relenos with pork tasted like boring stuffed peppers. No releno pepper flavor at all, mostly rice in the filling, only a few small bits of pork. Husband's black bean encheladas were just black beans wrapped in flour tortillas with a little cheese on top. Very bland. So, let's fire roast those peppers, stuff the peppers with some potatoes instead of rice and punch up the encheladas with some seasoning. We'll be back after they've had some time to fine tune the menu.
The hostess and are server were welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The food lacked spice so wasn't as flavorful as you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. We ordered the tuna ceviche appetizer and had to return it because it tasted fishy, like the tuna wasn't fresh. The manager was understanding and took this off our bill. I don't think we would come back here, though, because the food and drinks were just okay.
Excellent food and service.
Brandon was professional and courteous.
Bryan is an outstanding general manager.
The menu needs healthier items and salads for dinner. A lot of people do not eat flour and want healthier options and the menu is very limited.
I was pleasantly surprised by the light, airy decor. The bar is very noisy, but we were seated far in the back, so conversation was not a problem. They have a good beer and cocktail menu, and a nice variety of food. That being said we all stuck with the tacos and enchiladas. All were very good and the ingredients were very fresh. I liked that you could order either two or three tacos, and I like that they come in soft tortillas - not a lot of fried stuff. A step up from standard Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood.
Drinks, appetizers and desserts were very good- dinner was disappointing- taco shells and enchilada shells we undercooked
Beautiful, clean, crisp, atmosphere with a city vibe! I loved the shrimp tamales and the black bean empanadas! There were five in our reservation and we all loved our entrées!!! I had the skirt steak myself and it was delicious over the cheesy poblano rice. The booth we sat in was very roomy and Long! I don’t normally like to sit in a booth but it was very comfortable!!! We even had dessert and the Churros were the BEST I ever tasted!!! We also had the Warm Fudge Brownie! Amazing!!! It’s not your typical “brownie” it Comes out in a warm terra-cotta dish filled with the most decadent chocolate mixture on earth! And YES there is a Brown butter sea salt ice cream mixture on top!!!
Food was just okay. Not really hot. Enchiladas were hard and a bit dry. Good guacamole
Ambiance was great along with the service. However, the food is pricey for the portion size.
